  1. QUOTE (reiks12 @ May 11, 2017 -> 11:18 PM) what do you expect him to say? "He's an awful defender, if I were an NL team I definitely wouldn't want to trade for him."
  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 11, 2017 -> 07:21 PM) Where is the scoreboard!?!?!?!? http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20170511 Up in the original post.
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 11, 2017 -> 07:07 PM) Well this is officially the worst logic I've ever seen used to determine the strength of a minor league system. The Sox system is probably top 5, very top heavy with limited depth. Same guy who said we're a bottom 10 farm system a few weeks back. So there's that.
  4. Jacob May hit a homerun for some reason.
  5. QUOTE (swissarmyknife @ May 11, 2017 -> 01:32 PM) So if they sign Robert what would be the focus in the draft at 11? Would it be the best hitter available? The pitching is good on most levels and the historical weak point has been hitting. I think most of us believe they'd prefer to go best bat available. That said, if a pitcher they're in love with falls to them then I'm sure they wont pass on him.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 11, 2017 -> 12:08 PM) They both have similar stuff. They are small starting pitchers who use some funk and deception to create angles and have mid90's fastballs at the top end. I think Lopez hits the zone a tick or two faster than Fulmer, but the developmental paths are very different which does effect the rankings. I fully believe if Fulmer has taken a more traditional path through the minors and racked up big numbers against inferior competition he would be talked about a lot more highly than he is. They don't have similar stuff. Lopez throws a lot harder these days and obviously misses a ton more bats. They have similar body types and they're virtually the same age so most guys who rank this type of stuff are going to have the guy with the super high velocity and great strikeout numbers ranked considerably higher than the guy who doesn't despite the great era.
  7. QUOTE (kevo880 @ May 11, 2017 -> 10:52 AM) Agreed, but for Lopez to be at #23 and Fulmer not ranked just doesn't seem right to me. I like Fulmer but Lopez has much better stuff so that's why on some lists he's going to be ranked significantly higher than Carson.
  8. "who in the world is Jeff Gelalich?" Literally my exact thought when I saw his name in that article.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ May 10, 2017 -> 07:38 PM) Hopefully Jordan Guerrero has figured something out. Looks like he's on his way to another very good start. It was talked about his last start but he was just having some ridiculously terrible luck. His fip has been stupid low all year.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 10, 2017 -> 07:21 PM) Chicks dig the long ball and he was a monster in the '15 postseason, so I get the hype train. But he hasn't even played 3/4 of a full regular season including playoff games, his story can still go a few different ways. And was great(albeit in an extremely small sample size) in a World Series in which he missed an entire season. He also put up monster numbers in the minor leagues. It's easy to see why Cubs fans and pundits love the guy. That said, he's been awful so far this year. Like you said, his overall story can go a lot of ways but I'm guessing the guy becomes becomes a pretty great hitter.
  11. All of us who are still hopeful about Gio actually don't think the results have to get any better in the next year or two. As a matter of fact, I'm just ready to call him the best pitcher in baseball already.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ May 10, 2017 -> 01:28 PM) Hoping for Zack. No Zack.
  13. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ May 10, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) Giolito would be best served by simply pitching better than he has thus far in the minor league. There isn't much more that can be said by him or by others to excuse or to explain poor performance. (0-5 7.31 ERA in the Minors). I mean he obviously would be best served to pitch better. Are you just expecting him to become a complete ghost off the field and not talk to anyone when requested for an interview?
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2017 -> 03:30 PM) More generalizing here. Not true. I very rarely post in these threads but do read them quite often and it's absolutely true.
  15. Basabe in a little bit of a hitting slump this week but walking a ton.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ May 10, 2017 -> 09:41 AM) Yeah, just cuz it was 3 days doesn't make it the hardest. Have the said who the champs are on this Vs Pros season? CT, Bananas, Darrell, Camila, Wes, Cara, both Ashley's and Veronica for sure. Sounds like there might be a few more too.
  17. QUOTE (Scoots @ May 9, 2017 -> 09:03 PM) Pretty sure Eaton came from AZ with a trade for Addison Reed...unless there was a 3 team trade deal in there I'm not aware of. Davidson for Reed. Eaton was indeed traded here in a 3 way deal where we trade Hector to LA.
  18. Avi was going to go into a funk at some point even if he has turned a corner. The interesting thing will be to see if he can come out of it in a decent amount of time instead of killing everything he did in April. Lets hope he does.

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ May 9, 2017 -> 06:58 PM) Day off for Moncada, or did I miss something? Day off.
  20. I've made it clear that I think it's best for him to be in the majors as quickly as possible but I'm not going to complain about it either. Hope he continues to kill it down in Charlotte.
  21. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 9, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) Football too? No.
  22. 2 k's for Micker but 3 of 5 with a triple. Beautiful
  23. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 8, 2017 -> 08:15 PM) I'd be a bit more bullish on Giolito than others are here. Seems the velocity is there which was arguably the biggest concern about him. The strikeouts are there (reduced K's is the number one indicator of a pitcher in trouble to me). What he needs to regain is fastball control, which it seems to me is easier to regain than velocity/stuff. He's had it most of his career. He is apparently reworking his delivery. I wouldn't be panicking yet. He's definitely not the prospect he was but there's absolutely no need to be writing him off. I'm with you. He's FAR from a sure thing and as I've said a ton now he's a huge project at this point but he's still a very legit project. And Caulfield you have no clue where Gio's confidence is, it's a ridiculous assumption to say his confidence is shot.
  24. Ya that's super f'n bizarre.
