Official Recruiting Thread II

QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 08:46 PM) Joseph Bertrand from Sterling chooses SIU over Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and others. He has scholarship offers from Bradley, Wiscy, Iowa, Marquette and ND besides Southern. He hasn't officially verballed yet but it's a done deal and he was the player I was talking about, btw. Bertrand has been ranked the number 1 player in the state by some recruiting services for 09, so ya, this is a tremendous get. We're going to be absolutely freaking loaded at guard once the 08-09 classes get here. So, already our 08 scholarships are all full and we only have one left for 09. That being said, CLo is still recruiting for both classes so who the heck knows what might happen, but at the very least we're going to need another big for the 09 class. Absolutely terrific job by CLo though. -
9 out of 10 stars on imdb so far. And my step brother said it was phenominal. Hmm...

Wow.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) Why the heck wouldn't there be? I don't think anybody is wanting to trade him for beans, but he's by no mean untouchable. I personally think Anahiem might be a great fit, provided Casey Kotchman is coming back our way. Kotchman has been Konerko's equal this year, according to OPS+. If Stoneman offered, say, Kotchman, Willits and Santana for Konerko, it's definitely an offer I'd listen to. And as far as trading away the team's "heart and soul", the only thing that really matters to Sox fans are wins and losses. I'm with you on this one. And I think Kotchman would be a guarantee to come back if we did indeed make a deal with the Angels. I'm intrigued by this possibility but I think this is way down on the list of things that could happen.

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 12:31 AM) I'm waiting until tommorow, I don't wanna see it that bad. I'm actually pretty anxious to see it but I probably wont be able to until sometime later this weekend. Like I said, it's probably going to suck but it's still something I'm looking forward to seeing.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) Saluki fans, don't be surprised if we get our first 09 commit rather soon. Done deal. -
Anyone going to see the Simpsons movie tonight? I'm sure it's going to be awful, but it's something I have to see.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 08:11 PM) Funny, I got an email from the owner of that site the other day asking about joining a network they are forming. Pretty good site, imo. Saluki fans, don't be surprised if we get our first 09 commit rather soon. -
I'm telling you guys, he's being traded for Dunn or Griffey or something. Seriously though, weird situation, hopefully the Sox are just being extra, extra careful with him.
-
God, I hate the Red Sox.
-
We're not going to trade a single player, that's my prediction.

The USA basketball team is embarrasing themselves in the Pan Am games.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) Latest word is that Matt Roth will be the next IU verbal. http://www.insidethehall.com/2007/07/26/iu...hting-up-vegas/ That's from midstate hoops. From what I've heard of him, he's basically got in the gym range but he lacks a bit on the defensive end. -
^^^ Moron.

Michael Vick Accepts Plea Deal Per ESPN
Rowand44 replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Deion Sanders is a moron as well: "I believe Vick had a passion for dogfighting. I know many athletes who share his passion. The allure is the intensity and the challenge of a dog fighting to the death. It’s like ultimate fighting, but the dog doesn’t tap out when he knows he can’t win." I say lock these two up and have them fight, loser gets hung or shot or something. -

QUOTE(SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) Perspective- Brewers are sick at home, 8 under .500 on the road. If they falter at all at home the rest of this season, they may be in trouble. What if they start winning on the road? -
Mariners Looking at Dye; Sox Looking at Otsuka

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 12:33 AM) I'd have to guess that as of right now, Josh Fields is your 2008 left-fielder. It's just too hard for me to see the Sox just cutting ties altogether with Crede, especially because there's a chance that the surgery goes well and he goes back to being an average hitter with a plus glove for a couple years. Not that I want the Sox to sign him long term, but I'd guess the first half of 2008 will be the Sox "showcasing" Crede to other teams. I honestly have no clue what we're going to do with the of next season. While Fields in left makes some sense it seems like the Sox have been reluctant to try him out there so far in his career for whatever reason. Sweeney being the other option internally makes sense, but again we're not even getting a look at him, instead we're seeing Owens everyday. I just have no idea what Kenny is thinking for outfield options next season. -
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 12:25 AM) PS: SnB is brutal at that game. He seems to be bad at anything that involves competition.

I honestly don't think Jermaine would want to negotiate with the Sox anymore. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) I have no idea why, but I always loved when the game was over, seeing the newspaper come up with some lame headline... Lol, ya. How about the homerun trots when they were getting near homeplate? Haha, I definitely need to find my super nintendo when I go back home.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:51 PM) Ken Griffey for SNES remains the greatest sports game ever. Too awesome. U. Josh owned all. Ice Hockey for NES gives it a run for its money though. Was U. Josh, Frank? I loved how teams had different themes for their players names. Good times indeed.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:48 PM) I know this was in a game, and I think it was that version of Griffey, but you could run the outfielder into the wall and you'd hear this thud and the guy would go down. It was like the Pods in Oakland play from this year but only funnier. Yup, that was definitely from that game. Oh man, I'd love to play that game right now.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:45 PM) The old NHL games were the s***, too. Fighting was amazing. I was always either the Penguins or the Hawks -- the Jagr/Lemieux combo was just too good to pass up. Honestly, even if you don't like Hockey, the video games kick ass no matter what. I've always loved Hockey and Soccer video games.
