  1. "I know I think I'm great." -- Jason Gage Doesn't get much better than that right there, folks.
  2. Mark isn't overrated on this site at all. There are exceptions to every rule but for the most part, nobody here thinks he's Peavy or Johan. Mark might not be a shut down ace, but I think his overall numbers since he's come into the league speak for themself. If anything I don't think people realize just how good Mark has been since he's come into the league, 15th in era, 2nd in innings pitched, those are some pretty impressive stats right there. As for the whole PR thing, as good as Frank was, he was no where near as popular among Sox fans as Buehrle is now by the time he left. There were plenty of Sox fans who never liked Franks attitude and of course he had the cute little Big Skirt nickname. I don't think there is a Sox fan out there who doesn't love Mark Buehrle.
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 08:16 AM) Seems like Sisco is progressing a little. Too many walks still.
  4. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 10:28 AM) I agree it can be done and from what I have seen of our minor league players I think it should be done. If KW is really serious about developing the Sox as a winning ballclub, he needs to resign Crede along with the no-brainer of extending Buerhle and then look at Fields in LF. People want to say negative things about Carlos Lee being moved to LF, but any scholar of the game will tell you that Lee worked hard to make himself into a pretty decent LF'er. The move was anything but a failure. Moving Fields to LF is a good idea and has a lot of merit, if it is part of a real plan for the Sox to build a winning team. I just think Crede would be a horrible investment for the Sox right now. I think it's time to cut ties with Joe(sadly) but he's just too big of a risk at this point, imo.
  5. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:37 PM) But don't you look at this like Rosenthal did? That this is too close for no deal to happen? There just seem to be so many potential compromises, if Mark is willing to accept some trade risk, that allow the Sox to save face, too. How can this not happen? Because honestly, for whatever reason it seems like the Sox don't want to get it done.
  6. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:23 PM) If the Sox give in to MB for a full no trade, then next year they will have to give in to Garland, and in the future all Sox starters will want the NTC...Then you get a staff with 3-4 starters with NTC and the Sox would be screwed... I guess we're going to have to start giving every pitcher 4 year contracts as well if Buehrle signs.
  7. QUOTE(TheHolyBovine @ Jul 7, 2007 -> 08:11 PM) . He's barely worth the money he's making now. That's ridiculous.
  8. QUOTE(Straycats @ Jul 6, 2007 -> 07:44 AM) The Sox locker room thinks Buehrle is close to signing a 4 yr deal from today sun-times Sox players believing the Mark Buehrle contract saga is about to end with the left-hander signing a four-year, $56 million extension -- there's a feeling in the clubhouse that the storm is about to start. Here's the whole article: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...-ssep06.article
  9. Anderson and Richar just might be the two best hitters in professional baseball . Anderson has raised his average like 30 points in the last 4 days.
  10. So who is providing the transportation to pick me up from Carbondale so I can see Gavin's debut in person?
  11. Glad to be wrong. Fantastic news.
  12. I'd absolutely love to get Wily Mo, but not for Mark. Not a chance.
  13. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 01:45 PM) I wonder which starter this might be? Is anyone involved in stalled contract negotiations? Haha. Well lets hope we can dump JC for a bag of balls. I'm really looking forward to seeing Gavin pitch and I hope he really does need to stay up here the rest of the season, we need to see what we got in him. I know everyone is expecting a huge rebuilding year out of the Sox next season but if Floyd can at least prove he can be a solid 5th starter this season and we do reup with Mark then I really believe we have a chance to compete next season.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 01:14 PM) I'd absolutely love Orlando Hudson, he's the best defensive secondbaseman in the game, will only be 30 next year, has good contact, decent power, pretty good speed and good plate discipline. I don't know what the hell they'd want for him but I could definitely see KW being interested in the O-Dog. Agreed on Mr. Hudson, I've always been a fan. I must admit that Michael Bourn intrigues me. I don't know a ton about him but just looking at his stats, he's very interesting. Seems like he has a solid batting eye and he can definitely steal a base. Any idea how high the Phillies are on this guy? Is he a possible Rowand replacement for them?
  15. Hopefully Danks is back from his slump he was going through. It'd be nice if he could string together a few good starts in a row.
  16. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 01:01 AM) oh yeah, I forgot... you know all I just don't think Josh will ever have the range of Joe.
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) He has potential to be as good as Crede is/was at 3B. Nah, he can be an above average 3b one of these days, but he wont be Joe defensively.
  18. QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 11:56 PM) Come on, you think that pitchers lose 8-10 mph over a years time just from aging? I find that hard to believe. His velocity was starting to decrease a bit last season after his injury. He's just old and you're probably right, he most likely isn't 100 percent but he probably wont be ever again.
  19. This is so f***in retarded. Give him the f***in no trade clause god damn it. That felt good.
  20. His arm problem is called: Being a member of the White Sox.
  21. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 10:56 PM) The World(ie. WWE) needs Chris Jericho to come back. He makes things a hell of a lot more fun. You put Jericho and The Rock together and you get pure gold, everytime.
  22. Gavin on Friday, eh? First game I've looked forward to in a long, long time.
