QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jun 30, 2007 -> 02:35 PM) In my eyes he is worth every penny and then some. I just believe not signing him is a big mistake, and is gonna send the wrong message to the fans and to the players on this team and future players for this team. There is no loyalty in my eyes. There is no loyalty in sports, period. I'm sorry but this proposed contract is just an absolute steal for the Sox even with the no trade clause. This would have been way to good of a deal for the Sox to pass up imo and it looks like that is exactly what they're going to do.

Well I'd hope there is more to this than just the no trade clause, cause if that was really the only sticking point then I have a huge problem with Mr. Williams.
  3. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) I think that Lucy is not viewed as future starter outside of soxtalk as well. I don't think many people here view Lucy as a future starter either.
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 11:32 AM) I really think people are overestimating what Dye would bring back in a trade right now. His average is .230. He's getting $7 million. He's only signed for 2 months, as of the trade deadline, and has had knee and quad problems this season. I'm starting to wonder if you could even get 1 B prospect for him. Hard to argue any of that at this point.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) Do you do anything other than catch touchdowns? Haha, nice.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:48 AM) A long ass next couple of years, too. With or without Mark. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:50 AM) It sure is. Regardless, this team is going into at least a "semi" rebuilding mode, and that's not pretty with what is down on the farm right now. We need to get some big prospects, from somewhere. While I agree that it certainly doesn't look pretty at the moment, I'm going to be positive here for a second and say that if Mark re-signs then this team can be competitive next year. We'll have a nice starting rotation and the bullpen can be fixed pretty cheap if done right. Now fixing this miserable lineup will be quite the task but there are ways to at least improve it. I know that's a lot of ifs but I feel like being positive today.
  7. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:47 AM) It's a long thread with a TON of standard wrestling chitter-chatter going on about things other than Benoit. I don't want to read about wrestling, I was curious about the one thing. I'll just drop Critic a line. He was supposedly giving his kid HGH.

Well this is going to be a long ass day.
  9. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 08:21 AM) Around the 4 minute mark is the great Nancy Grace question and shows how informed she is and how much studying and preparation she did for this interview with Bret Hart. You would have loved what some of these morons wrote in the DE today about the situation.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 06:49 AM) More like the best owner this town has ever seen. And it's not even close.
  11. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) Woa, watch it. That might be putting your head a bit too far out in front of your skis. If you look at where Crede was at Field's current juncture of their respective careers, Fields is far ahead of the curve. Fields may not have the minor league accolades of Crede, but, his play on the field is superior to Crede's at that time. I'm talking purely defense here. IMO Josh will never be Crede out in the field, now it's a completely different story with teh stick.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) I'd be curious as to when Offman thinks there is going to be an official announcement since he is still sticking to it. I'd assume after the game. Still, I believe 1000 at the moment.
  13. They're both very good pitchers(and I've called Garland average before so I suck) but Buehrle is still the guy I'd keep if I had to make a choice. Obviously, the best thing is to build around those two but that wasn't the question so Mark is my guy.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) OK, i'll be the jackass and not go back and read since I had my 1:30 call... is ESPN still reporting no talks and WSCR still reporting the deal is very close? SORRY!! Basically.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) I can't agree with that unless we traded Gio again. But other than Gio I'd probably agree with you. If Gavin does indeed have his stuff back from a few years ago then he has better overall stuff than Gio.
  16. As of now Fields is an average 3b imo. He's perfectly capable of making the routine plays but he doesn't have a ton of range at this point. That could improve but he's never going to be Joe there(most people aren't). I really doubt that he's in left next year, Crede will be elsewhere by the start of next season imo.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Hey, I like Vazquez. If he gives us three years of a 4.50 ERA, the contract will be well worth it. I just want Young back. And I'm sure a certain locker wouldn't have minded not being punched. Or my fist. Ha, I know, just giving you s***. And I'm sure the locker kicked your ass.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) This coming from the person who initially said: You don't get to argue for the guy, cause we all know that you do love him.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) Is he awesome defensively? I haven't seen him play, so I really don't have a clue. I love Crede's defense as much as his clutch hits. He's certainly above average.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) It isn't bad for a rookie, but is that really 12th best and good enough to be a fan fave? That is just hard to believe for me. Either the standards have lowered or Arizona fans are very easy to please. Like Kalapse said, 3 walkoff homers will do that. Guys who come through in the clutch usually have a place in the fans heart, Mr. Crede for example.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) I'm not even a Chris Young fan. I'm not a huge fan of his or Javy's to be completely honest(though I'm very satisfied with the production we're getting from Vaz this season). Anywho, in a way trading Young allowed us to get Gavin and Gio so to be perfectly honest, I'm fine with that trade for now(wasn't a big fan when it first happened). Obviously Gavin, Gio and Chris have a ton of upside but all 3 of them need to prove how good they really can be. Should be interesting how that all works out. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) really? A .250 hitter with an OBP of .285? That equals 12th best and an Arizona fan favorite? They must be easy to please. He's got a ways to go but that is not bad production from a rookie, it really isn't.
  22. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Stoudamire is a brute, but this team needs a more rounded power forward since Wallace is so limited as well. Amare is basically exactly what this t eam needs. I'm sorry but you're way off knight. That being said, this trade is not happening.
  23. Rowand44 replied to DBAHO's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Crazy, I'll definitely be believing 1000 until I see something official. 4/50 sounds way to good to be true.
  24. Rowand44 replied to DBAHO's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well the title and subtitle are kind of confusing here. What's going on?
  25. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 02:13 PM) Im watching it, ill be sure to post details Gracias.
