QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 06:49 AM) More like the best owner this town has ever seen. And it's not even close.
-
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) Woa, watch it. That might be putting your head a bit too far out in front of your skis. If you look at where Crede was at Field's current juncture of their respective careers, Fields is far ahead of the curve. Fields may not have the minor league accolades of Crede, but, his play on the field is superior to Crede's at that time. I'm talking purely defense here. IMO Josh will never be Crede out in the field, now it's a completely different story with teh stick.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) I'd be curious as to when Offman thinks there is going to be an official announcement since he is still sticking to it. I'd assume after the game. Still, I believe 1000 at the moment.
-
They're both very good pitchers(and I've called Garland average before so I suck) but Buehrle is still the guy I'd keep if I had to make a choice. Obviously, the best thing is to build around those two but that wasn't the question so Mark is my guy.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:32 PM) OK, i'll be the jackass and not go back and read since I had my 1:30 call... is ESPN still reporting no talks and WSCR still reporting the deal is very close? SORRY!! Basically.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) I can't agree with that unless we traded Gio again. But other than Gio I'd probably agree with you. If Gavin does indeed have his stuff back from a few years ago then he has better overall stuff than Gio.
-
As of now Fields is an average 3b imo. He's perfectly capable of making the routine plays but he doesn't have a ton of range at this point. That could improve but he's never going to be Joe there(most people aren't). I really doubt that he's in left next year, Crede will be elsewhere by the start of next season imo.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Hey, I like Vazquez. If he gives us three years of a 4.50 ERA, the contract will be well worth it. I just want Young back. And I'm sure a certain locker wouldn't have minded not being punched. Or my fist. Ha, I know, just giving you s***. And I'm sure the locker kicked your ass.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) This coming from the person who initially said: You don't get to argue for the guy, cause we all know that you do love him.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 04:01 PM) Is he awesome defensively? I haven't seen him play, so I really don't have a clue. I love Crede's defense as much as his clutch hits. He's certainly above average.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) It isn't bad for a rookie, but is that really 12th best and good enough to be a fan fave? That is just hard to believe for me. Either the standards have lowered or Arizona fans are very easy to please. Like Kalapse said, 3 walkoff homers will do that. Guys who come through in the clutch usually have a place in the fans heart, Mr. Crede for example.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) I'm not even a Chris Young fan. I'm not a huge fan of his or Javy's to be completely honest(though I'm very satisfied with the production we're getting from Vaz this season). Anywho, in a way trading Young allowed us to get Gavin and Gio so to be perfectly honest, I'm fine with that trade for now(wasn't a big fan when it first happened). Obviously Gavin, Gio and Chris have a ton of upside but all 3 of them need to prove how good they really can be. Should be interesting how that all works out. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 03:53 PM) really? A .250 hitter with an OBP of .285? That equals 12th best and an Arizona fan favorite? They must be easy to please. He's got a ways to go but that is not bad production from a rookie, it really isn't.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Stoudamire is a brute, but this team needs a more rounded power forward since Wallace is so limited as well. Amare is basically exactly what this t eam needs. I'm sorry but you're way off knight. That being said, this trade is not happening.
-
Crazy, I'll definitely be believing 1000 until I see something official. 4/50 sounds way to good to be true.
-
Well the title and subtitle are kind of confusing here. What's going on?

Miscellaneous "White Sox" Trade Notes
Rowand44 replied to Kalapse's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 12:49 AM) What teams are on Javy's no trade lists? Jose has a full no-trade, correct? Contreras to the Mets and Vazquez to the Braves makes too much sense. I believe Javy has a bunch of west coast teams, I could be wrong about that. And Vaz is a guy I have no problem keeping, he's an above average pitcher with a contract that certainly isn't going to kill us. Now, if we can get some overwhelming talent back for him then I'd dump him in a heartbeat but he's not a guy I'd dump just for the sake of dumping. Yes. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 26, 2007 -> 12:43 AM) Good for you. I thought so.
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) Watching ESPNEWS, the Sox highlights came on, and the anchor was talking about how bad the Sox offense was, but how "this kid Andy Gonzalez" could be the answer for the Sox. Well Phew, thank god for Andy the Messiah. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) Um, sir, I am unsure who this Jerome Robertson is. Jeriome Robertson, perhaps? And who really spells their name - pronounced jur-ohm - like it's pronounced jare-ee-ohm? I mean, talk about a completely useless and meaningless letter in a name. Sheesh. Oh yeah, and Danks rawkZ My High School physics teacher played minor league ball with Jeriome. What that has to do with anything I don't know, but I thought I'd share since I'm sure all of you guys wanted to know that awesome fact.
-
If the Mets offer anything close to a top propsect than the Sox absolutely have to jump on that deal to shed themselves of Jose's contract. I'm with Kalapse though, we're not getting much more than a B or maybe 2 B level prospects for JC.
-
Wow, this is really sad.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:59 PM) I have doubts as to whether Buehrle is around. I think Dye sticks around a while longer as teams are going to want to see him healthy before they are willing to give up what Kenny wants (otherwise you are best Dl'ing him, letting him get healthy in order to make sure he can play late this year and be 100% over the off-season. Than take your two draft picks for him as he will likely go to a team picking in the lower portion of the draft (ie >15). I just got a hunch that if Buehrle is traded it wont be until late July. Obviously I could be wrong but I'll guess that he's around for at least a few more starts.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 25, 2007 -> 05:55 PM) I think it's 50/50 if Buehrle is still a member of our team by the time he is scheduled to start next. He'll still be around.
