I for one don't think this is an easy decision, but if I had to pick one I'd say Buehrle after considerable consideration.

You could make the argument that Garland has been the better pitcher since 2005. However, Mark has been doing his thing since 2001 (save last year's horrid second half).

i think a lot of people here undervalue and are hard on garland. i think this (if we ever had to make it) would be a very tough decision. Garland has been about as solid as you can ask for the past two and a half seasons. Garland may not have electric stuff, but lets face it, neither does buehrle. im not saying that garland is top ace type stuff but the guys has won over 40 games in the past two season and a half with an ERA in the 3's. That is pretty damn good if you ask me. Having said all this, i'd take buehrle by the thread of one of garland's soul patch hairs.

It is pretty much an even draw for me. I want both in the rotation for a long long time.

A decision I just don't want to make. I want them both in our rotation for at least the next 5 years...they are stud pitchers, they take the ball every fifth day, they are both young, they eat innings, and they win.

 

They aren't sexy like some with the 10+ ks every game, but they are money in the bank in my view.

Be nice to have both of them leading off the rotation for the next couple of yrs

 

Picked Buehrle to keep and the facial hair to Garland.

If performance between the two was totally equal, you take the lefty.

 

Mark also wins on performance, even though JG has narrowed the gap in the last couple years.

Exactly...build around both of em.

They're both very good pitchers(and I've called Garland average before so I suck) but Buehrle is still the guy I'd keep if I had to make a choice.

 

Obviously, the best thing is to build around those two but that wasn't the question so Mark is my guy.
