QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 08:38 AM) I agree, but he shouldnt have had that many fouls in the first place. He put himself in a bad spot in the first half, and he had some dumb slap fouls. I wish he would shoot the damn ball, he always passes up those shots he creates for himself until they absolutely need him to shoot it, and then he drills 10 straight points. WTF?! He showed in that few minute stretch how good of a scorer he really can be, I think all Saluki fans know the kid can score if he wants to, he's just too damn unselfish. It's like yesterday he realized that besides JT, no one else showed the hell up and he needed to so something. I hope he looks to create his own shot in the tournament, if he does, it adds another dimension to the offense.

Official ST Game Thread Sox vs Cubs, 3/4/07
QUOTE(Reddy @ Mar 4, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) there are box scores on the white sox site, but pauly 2 homers, dye, mack and molina homered as well. Haeger gave up 2 runs but one of the runs came off a double that mack should've caught. otherwise scoreless from the others: Garland, Danks, Gio, Aardsma, Sisco. Ya, I know that. I'm more interested in how the young pitchers looked. Thanks for the info.

Anyone got a recap? Just got home from St. Louis a few hours ago so I really haven't been able to keep up with ST stuff this weekend.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 4, 2007 -> 06:46 PM) Drexel and Old Dominion go down along with Hofstra last night as George Mason makes a Cinderella run to the finals. After all this, is the Colonial a bid conference? Even with a GMU win tommorrow, VC has the worst RPI of all of them despite being the best team, so I doubt they get an at-large and the CAA does indeed end up being a one bid league. Also, Marist is down 7 with four minutes to play in their semis. Foxes lose. Too bad, I really wanted to see JJ in the tourny, he's a blast to watch.

We got our asses kicked, the end. CU was just a much better team this weekend. I'm just hoping we don't get screwed now.

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 4, 2007 -> 03:06 AM) You should stop starting them then. Nah, no alcohol for me this weekend. A few of my buddies on the other hand are completely wasted and were about to throw themselves into a fight between SIU and Creighton fans that basically started because well...people are drunk and retarded. Thing is, out of my 3 buddies that were over there, only one of them can fight and the other two probably would have been knocked the hell out and arrested. Right as I got them out of there, the cops came.

We had absolutely no business winning that game, we slept walk through out the whole damn thing, we just looked horrendous for the most part, it was very frusterating. BU is definitely a good team(Unfortunately for them, they're going to be a NIT team as their overall resume is just not very impressive) so you definitely have to give them credit but that was not a pretty game. That all being said, there is just something about this team, we know how to pull out games that we shouldn't win. I'm pretty sure this team has taken about 30 years off my life this season but I absolutely love it. Love this team and hopefully we can keep it going tomorrow. CU-MSU game was a bit of a let down. I thought it'd be much better than that but Nate Funk was phenominal and MSU just could not stop him. MSU should still be fine but I'm sure they don't exactly feel comfortable after last season. So tomorrow is exactly how this league should end its season, SIU and Creighton, the two teams that have basically built the foundation to what the Valley is now. Creighton has played the best so far this weekend and right now they just look damn good. Hopefully we're actually ready to play tomorrow and don't have to play from behind all game. We've owned Creighton lately but it's so hard to beat a good team 3 times in a season(though CU did do it to MSU) especially when you have a coach like Dana Altman. This game will most likely come down to the last seconds, hopefully we can just keep doing what we do in close games and pull this one out, I don't want to give the committee any reason to screw us over seeding wise.

That was one of the most incredible stretches of basketball I've ever seen. 12 straight fg's? 12 of 14 shooting 3's at one point? My god.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 3, 2007 -> 01:09 AM) College Gameday at Marquette... It's 1:10 AM right now, I'm heading there now for neato T-Shirts and a chance to sit in the lower bowl for the game at 8:00. No, I'm not staying there till 8:00 at night, but it should be fun. It's funny -- I'm not even sure I want to sit in the LD, as none of my friends are 'hardcore' enough to get there earlier enough for LD seats, but I'm just going for the fun of it. I'll have a stogie with me. It better be good. Blow the smoke in Digger's face.

I got here just in time to catch the end of the Evansville-Drake game and then I obviously saw the battle of the ISU's. From what I hear Webster just completely choked on two ft's at the end of regulation that would have given Evansville the win and then they went on to lose in OT. As for the battle of the ISU's, I'm not exactly sure how the Sycs pulled that off. The Red Birds absolutely dominated that game and are the better team. That being said, InSu just found a way to win, so kudos to them. We got the noon game tomorrow and I have to be awake in like 6 hours but I can't sleep, oh well. Drake should be tired as all hell and hopefully we'll be able to wear them down and advance, it's not going to be easy though. As for the other games: Creighton is going to win, that simple. The hardest game for me to pick is WSU-MSU. MSU is such a talented team, however in a game like this Hinson usually likes to get outcoached and the Shockers are certainly good enough to knock them off. I'm going to say WSU in the upset here, putting MSU squarely on the bubble which obviously didn't treat them well last season. UNI-Bradley is the other game and should be a good one as well. The Panthers have started to look a tad better since getting spanked in the BB two weeks ago, if they can get any kind of production out of their guards, they have a chance to do some damage in this tourny. Panthers in a close one and locking up a NIT bid for the Braves.

Frank Thomas Blue Jays Story
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 1, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) yes, tricep not bicep. Hey, what's one cep more or less between friends? And this whole thread has gotten rather silly. To Rowand and everybody else on the opposite side of thinking here, I believe the original comment that set this all off was J4Life innocently saying "I hope he gets [#500] against us" Then all of the silly scenario playing came out, with Rowand saying "no you don't" and others saying 'well what if it resulted in a loss that cost us a playoff berth?'. . . yada yada. . . Focking-A. No, there isn't anybody on this site that cheers over a Sox loss, or puts a former player ahead of the current team. But get some perspective. It's going to touch a lot of us to see Frank get #500, and if it happened at the Cell where thousands of lifelong Sox fans who grew up watching the man play could feel they were a part of it, that seems kinda cool to me. But for the record, I promise I only want to see it happen if: A ) it doesn't cost us the game, or B ) it costs us the game but doesn't affect the standings and/or C ) it doesn't eliminate our playoff chances or D ) it doesn't occur in post-season competition or E ) it doesn't result in so much excessive cheering that it shakes the rivets out of the stadium and we all fall to our untimely deaths Given all of those conditions, yes, it would be cool to be there if it happened in Chicago. My Cousin talks about seeing Denny McLain pitch at Comiskey in April of 1968, beating us in the second game of a double-header in a year where the Sox didn't win their first game until almost the end of that month. He doesn't dwell on the fact that the Sox lost the game (and they did that 95 times that year). Instead he talks about being there to see a pitcher who grew up on the South Side and went to Mt. Carmel win one game during his historic 31-win season. That's a pretty cool memory to have. If I was lucky enough to see Frank hit #500 at the Cell – even with a (*gasp*) Sox loss (so long as it didn't knock us out of playoff contention or somehow otherwise instantaneously cause us to lose every game for the rest of eternity) then, yeah, I think in 20 years I'd remember being at the game where Frank Thomas cemented his spot as a first-ballot HOFer a bit more than the fact that we dropped a game to the Blue Jays that day. I was more or less giving Jordan s*** and I think he knows that. Others actually came in and said that they would like to see Frank hit 500 against us even if it cost the Sox a game, that comment got to me a bit so that's where my comments came from. To cheer against the Sox for a player getting a milestone is ridiculous imo and nobody can convince me otherwise. Like I said, I honestly couldn't care less about Frank right now but i understand the people who still cheer for him, that's completely understandable, he meant a lot to a lot of people for a long time. Still, to cheer for an individual milestone over your favorite team makes 0 sense.
