7/17 Games
Haggerty was sent down before Gonzalez got hurt. Not sure when Young got hurt but it does appear to be a pulled muscle in his side. If that is the case, it may be a long recovery. Would not be easy to hit, and especially with any power like that. Garcia was okay to play today, but Razor kept him on the bench as insurance and flexibility. I think they should let Phillips DH for the time being. He can swing a bat.

NCAA 2006
QUOTE(Fotop @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) Hey Rex, here's the list of 2005 recruits for Michigan (would be incoming freshman)...don't know if that's what you're looking for but I figured it couldn't hurt. Michigan Recruits That should link you to the rivals list, just use the drop down menu and pick 2005. Perfect, that's exactly what I was looking for. I had always thought the Rivals stuff was only available for $$ so I had never seen it. Thanks! By the way, how are the Irish going to be this year?

palehosefan (or anyone else), where might I find a list of incoming freshman for Michigan football this year? Is there a recruiting list that can be found on the web? Thanks!

NCAA 2006
QUOTE(wsox08 @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 08:01 AM) which difficulty? I'm playing All-American. Last year I never went to Heisman strictly because I never could master the freaking kick meter. I got tired of punts and kickoffs going straight out of bounds. lol I'm doing okay, but I have lost to the computer twice (won 4 or 5), including the 2OT Iowa game. My defense can be a little shaky at times, although when I beat Miami for the National Championship I held them to a FG after they dropped a TD on me 30 seconds into the game, winning 27-10.

NCAA 2006
Finished my first season in my Michigan dynasty..... Hart won the Heisman. Finished 11-1 with a double OT loss to Iowa, 50-43. The Hawkeyes were ranked #1 at the time. I was down 26-0 at one point and getting hammered, but I clawed back with my backup QB. Just couldn't stop Iowa's offense when it mattered. Got two early commitments, both 4-star players. Missed out on the others. Not sure I like the in-season recruiting yet.

Questions... 1. Still can't figure out how to bring down the passing icons and run with the QB. Anyone? 2. What does the word "pipeline" mean next to the player's city and state in the In-Season recruiting? 3. Typically, how many in-season recruits commit to you out of the 12 targeted?

Hurricane Emily
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 06:05 PM) It sure looks that way. He's about where the TS inland logo is. Personally, I'm hoping it will curve north. There's a weak low pressure sitting over southwestern Texas that might spin it north... Kap, if you are in Dallas, I would guess you will still get a good amount of rain, even if it hit at the far southern tip of Texas. Dennis rained on three states in the South, ranging from Central MS almost all the way to the SC state line in Georgia. The way hurricanes spin, you should be on the side of it getting the most rain.

Minor League Pics
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 07:05 AM) Hey Rex I'm working on creating a photoalbum type deal for FutureSOx. Would it be cool if I used those pictures in it (i'd give you or whoever took them proper credit of course) Use whatever you want, Jason. Just don't sell them or use them to make money. I have no problem with you putting them on Future Sox. If you need high res images, email me. We'll figure out how to do the photo credits then.

MLB teams often throw bones to their Minor League affiliates with players on rehab. Most go to AAA, but some will do AA and on rare occasion Class A. Sometimes they send a player somewhere simply because they want them to go where the team is at home so they are not traveling by bus.

Anybody have any idea how long it will take to get full rosters for all the teams? Where is the best place to get them? Last year someone else got them for me and I copied them. He lives in NY now, so I am looking. I got the game today but only had about 30 minutes to look through it before the AS game. I know last year, I didn't really enjoy the game much until I got the rosters. Then I went straight into dynasty mode for three months. If you don't know now, but find out later, PM me. Gracias amigos!!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) Anyone who says that Ivan Rodriguez never used steroids, is a f***ing retard. He weighs 130 pounds right now. Just about all of his power is gone. Yeah, he had no power at all in the 2nd round....... Who are you kidding? That guy looks chiseled. Yeah, he has lost weight, but he looks in as good a shape as I can ever remember.

Kenny Rogers
I have no problem with him going to and playing in the AS game. I would be for a rule that does not allow a suspended player (or pending appeal) to be eligible for such events, but since there is not, there is no reason he should not be there. What he did was stupid. He has to face that music and seems to be doing so and is not ducking the media. It takes more of a man to face what he has done than to hide from it. That said, I do think it sucks that basically his fine from the action will be covered by the money he will make by making the AS game, but what can you do? It was in his contract and he was voted to the team. Sometimes we learn more from the dumb things we do than when all is going well.

MVP Baseball 2005
I have played/simulated through the 2008 season with the White Sox. I didn't do the fantasy draft, I simply started with the current Sox squad and made trades. I have won two World Series (2006 and 2008), lost one (2007) and failed to make the playoffs in 2005. I now have 42,050 seats, including 50 luxury suites and make pretty good money. Have all merchandise venues... I have all of the food specialty stands and at least two of each vendor (3 soda and peanut, I think). During the 2008 playoffs, I was making in the neighborhood of $2.3 million in revenue, netting about $1.8 million per game. My 2009 season opening roster is......... 1B Brad Wilkerson 1B Ryan Sweeney 2B Michael Young 2B Adrian Thomas - comp. player picked up from the Dodgers SS Katie Roy - prospect I created and started at AA SS Jamey Carroll 3B Brett Mercker - comp. player picked up from the Rockies OF Aaron Rowand OF Rocco Baldelli OF Alexis Rios OF Jeff Francoeur OF Brian Anderson C Victor Martinez C Miguel Olivo SP Mark Buehrle SP Felix Hernandez SP Scott Kazmir SP Brandon McCarthy SP Greg Miller RP Chris Watson - comp player picked up from the Braves RP Jeff Bajenaru RP Nick Phillips - comp player up from Sox minor league system SU Shingo Takatsu (my next player to be traded) SU Jason Ginter - comp. player up from Sox minor league system CL Ervin Santana Total MLB and Minor League payroll is around $72 million. I like this team!!

The Young and the Restless
Count me amongst those that think a trade for Vizquel would be good for the big club. Of course, I want it to include Jason Schmidt as well. I also agree that Valido should not be included in such a deal, but would have no problem seeing Lopez or Gonzalez in the miz.

Toyota chooses Canada for new plant
The other thing this article fails to mention is the Toyota plant in Indiana. Are they having problems with it too? Do they just want the people in the South to sound stupid? Or is Toyota dumb for trying to find a location away from one they have now that is successful? Either they are having problems there and failed to mention Hoosiers are illiterate and hard to train too or they were looking in the wrong damned places!!!

Toyota chooses Canada for new plant
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Toyota corp has been one of the Japanese companies that has worked the hardest to try to build up goodwill amongst the Americans by opening factories over here, in accordance with a law passed during the Reagan years encouraging Japanese companies to do so. Which is why I think this is so damn tragic...this is a company that actually likes to operate here, but they don't think they can any more. How sad is all of this? Toyota is offered more money by several U.S. states to put their factory here. And you know what? They decide on Canada...because other companies have opened here, and have found the work force terrible. An illiterate workforce in the southern U.S. Man, those states that spend so little on education...they really get their money's worth don't they. And if you want even more evidence about who's health care system hurts their population more...Canada's or the U.S's, Toyota just decided it would be far cheaper for them to run workers under Canada's system than under the U.S. system. So let's ask...what's better...hundreds of people employed and receiving health care from the government, or hundreds of unemployed people without health care in the U.S.? It certainly doesn't help that they put these plants out in the freakin boon docks in small towns. Is it really a surprise they aren't getting the cream of the crop? Mercedes has a plant just outside of Birmingham and I have never heard anything other than raves about their production and success. Honda opens in Lincoln, AL in the middle of freakin nowhere. Not sure where the Nissan plant is. On the flip side, New Era Cap Co., the maker of all Major and Minor League baseball caps, opened a plant in Demopolis, AL (middle of BFE) and that non-unionized plant was outproducing their two Buffalo NY plants by its second year. It was so successful that they opened another plant in Jackson, AL which is closer to Mobile. Both Alabama plants outproduce their Buffalo plants. IF Buffalo were not the corporate home of New Era, they would probably shut down and move south completely. I'm sure making cars is different than making hats, but I think New Era's success here has to show that not everyone down here is illiterate and stupid. LOL
