  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 12:45 PM) KW will overpay for speed, which is why I'm scared of who we'll trade for Figgins (PK for Chone would be such a bad trade). Yes, but Weeks is a throw in if there is a trade no matter how much speed he has. Javy may be hated on here, but the guy for some reason has alot of value around the league. Hardy would be a nice SS or 3B pick up for us, maybe we throw in someone else to get weeks thrown in, but Weeks for javy is massive rapeage, and Im not sure how anyone could really WANT Weeks.
  2. QUOTE (daa84 @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 12:32 PM) i have a 50" panasonic plasma at home and my brothers just bought two new LCDs at their houses and i can honestly say...i have never seen a better picture than the plasma that i have in my life....don't diminish how much the dark levels of a plasma add to the picture...its unreal im not all that in the know about this stuff, but my brother got a TV maybe 3 months ago, and he was telling me it has some sort of capability that it smooths out the jump in between frames so the motion is supposedly more fluid....when watching it, specifically with sports, i found it pretty annoying as it just seems like the motion is digitized and not entirely natural I did a TON of research on this lately as I just bought my plasma. I even spoke personally to a guy who works with cnet, some LCD's in larger sizes have that issue.
  3. I hope you guys arent saying weeks for javy. Thats an awful return. JJ Hardy is probably the key player we could get back for Javy from the Brewers.
  4. Just keep my bucks close to the 25 and ill be happy. BJ is a horse. And I fully enjoyed reading the SI piece about Tom Crean.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 10:10 AM) Fields is, I'm guessing, Plan B. Plan A is to go get someone KW wants. yup, also trying to increase Field's value at least a touch by saying he's a starter. With Fields and Lexi on the left side, our defense will be awful.
  6. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 09:17 AM) We have a plasma (panasonic), great TV. Burn in isn't an issue on modern models. The picture on plasma is so similar in quality to LCD that the difference between brands/models of each is more important than the difference between LCD and plasma. Two things that I did find worth noting, though... 1. Plasma is superior in that you can see it from a wider angle. If you have a bunch of people watching something, this can be important. 2. Unfortunately, plasma TV's like mine use a lot more electricity than LCD's do. Take your pick as to what is most important to you. The picture is more true on plasma's especially with dark levels, but I agree brand of TV is very important. As for the life of the TV, both LCD and plasma are generally around the same length in life as usually their half life is around 60k hours which is about 28 years of use at about 6 hours a day. Not sure where this "6 month" thing came from, sounds like an LCD salesman. Just like a plasma salesman is going to tell you that most LCD's come with dead pixels. For people who want real experts or videophiles opinions, search Avnet forums for real info.
  7. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 12:16 PM) Yes I do the same thing. It is absolutely the most vulnerable that I ever feel,I would rather drive on a rainy New Years Eve down the Dan Ryan expressway than fly.And my phobia has got worse. Humans were not designed to be flying through the air.
  8. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 12:15 PM) Correct...they heard us like sheep down there. I did get Brooks Boyer to say he would put the game on out there so we could hear it. That was annoying not knowing what was happening in the game. I had "one of those games" where I had just been overserved as hell this past summer, and it was a fun game smoking on the ramp near my section, getting yelled at, putting it out, lighting another, getting yelled at, putting it out, and on and on.
  9. QUOTE (Steff @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 11:16 AM) So they actually moved the smoking area outside of the park? Outside of the black metal gates? And they let people back in? Last time I knew it was still in the park on the ramps. If they now make you go outside the gates I guess that's comparable to the UC policy, but what I have been hearing all over the place is that they are going to be adopting the Soldier Field policy which is smoking allowed until you pass the ticket taker. Yeah, so they dont let you smoke on the ramps anymore, they have a gated off area outside of the black gates just like United Center.
  10. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 12:02 PM) I needed either music or complete silence because I would start analyzing every sound to determine if it meant we were going down. Prior to that, I had never had a particularly bad flight, so I had no idea where this came from. My worst moment is when you take off and the plane kind of "stalls" on its way up into the clouds, my heart races uncontrollably.
  11. QUOTE (sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 12:05 PM) yeah, my walls won't hold much more than a 32" I'm hoping for a 32" at 400 or less. I have my tv mounted on a stand that makes the plas look like its wall mounted and "floating" because I didnt want to drill into my wall. It looks pretty sweet.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) Pish. Do a little research and grab an LCD that doesn't suffer from picture blur. Not that hard to find, it's called SAMSUNG. Then, sure, the pure black isn't perfect, but I'd take that over worrying about burn-in and enjoying my television for twice the life cycle. Burn in isnt a worry anymore. I did a TON of research including asking several people in the industry. Thats why i opted for this Samsung model, which is far superior to even 120 hz LCD's. As far as lifecycle? I blow through TV's in less than 10 years, so im not too worried about keeping a TV for 50. LCD companies have done a good job of marketing their more expensive LCD's to the general public, but most videophiles agree that Plasma's are still superior, especially for sports. In all honesty, only the most discriminating eye can sense the differences between tech, I've even found that alot of women cannot tell 1080 from 720, and many people cannot tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p. Either way, these new TV's are unreal, my Samsung 650 plasma is an absolutely amazing TV, only falling short of the Panny Kuro's. And at just under $1500 on amazon, it was a no brainer.
  13. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 11:49 AM) And Rock, flying got worse for me, not better. I lost the ability to fall asleep on flights. I had a terrible sensation of actually falling. I'd wake up startled. I have the same thing. I can no longer sleep unless I've been drinking, or havent slept in a few days. I ended up just reading alot or watching my IPOD. I used to run through about 7-10 books a month.
  14. QUOTE (shipps @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 11:13 AM) A sleeping pill to keep from having a panic attack at 30,000 feet. Oh how I hate to fly. Me too, hate the hell out of it. Taking off and landing makes me freak out, and people say it gets easier, bulls***.
  15. I honestly believe that we would have put up a better fight than Tampa.
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 11:00 AM) As a business traveler is there anything more annoying than a novice in front of you in the security line? Ugh, its the most annoying thing in the world. Its all different types too, the lady who didnt take off her 10lbs of silver jewelry, the guys who cant figure out that they need to take off their giant belt buckle. Its especially annoying for people that are on their 3rd or 4th trip in a week and all you want to do is get to the damn red carpet club to go to the bathroom because you've been holding it since the morning coffee. I seriously just got annoyed just thinking about it.
  17. QUOTE (Steff @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 10:58 AM) It's not outside the park. It's on the ramp platform and according to the photo shop exactly where this new structure is being built. Regardless, it's owned by the state and (not) soon (enough) smoking will not be allowed at all. Well, i understand you cant smoke in the park, thats been a rule for awhile now as they make you got outside like UC. But this restaurant/bar is going to be at the same gate as they outside smoking section over there, which is what I was saying.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 09:59 AM) Ugh. Just say no to plasma, and yes to LCD! Yeah right, plasma's are superior in cost, black levels, and quick moving shows like sports. For a sports junkie, plasmas are king. I just bought a 50in sammy from amazon a few weeks ago. No tax, free shipping, free set up.
  19. Ah, so a seasoned traveler basically can wake up, get dressed, pack and board a plane without actually ever waking up. A few things I MUST have to travel: Carry on suitcase that holds a suit or two. My sammy roller folds up nice clothes so ironing in the room is minimal IPOD video Laptop DVDs Own set of toiletries, i never even take them out of the bag Quick drying work out clothes (so you dont have to deal with sweaty clothes) Reversible belt, black/brown this is a must because you cut down on multiple belts GPS phone Frequent traveler numbers at EVERY hotel chain Avis preferred or Hertz gold membership-just makes life easier Sox hat-in case I dont have time to shower between flights Fleece with pit zips-for cold/bitter weather changes to nice climates etc etc Basically you start out rough, but really streamline your travel stuff as you fly more. I literally can get through airport security in less than a min if there is no line.
  20. QUOTE (Steff @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) There will be no smoking there like at Soldier Field soon so I doubt that's the reason behind the renovation. The smoking area is outside of the park right next to where they are building it.
  21. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) By living in Springfield do you mean anywhere other than Chicago / Cook County, or do you mean exactly Springfield? I meant live in the Mansion that the tax payers pay for. People in Springfield HATE Blago. People who work for the state, state police, etc I have all worked with, HATE Blago. He uses state money to commute back and forth in a helicopter because he doesnt want to live in the mansion. They, and alot of people located all over the state view him as a money spending city boy who thinks Chicago is the only thing in Ill.
  22. pageant walking consultant. To be honest though, she was thrown in over her head in this situation and the media ate her alive, but she is a very admirable politician especially considering what she has done in her own state. She battled her party, reformed governement, and helped her fellow citizens gain some income from the oil conglomerates that have been exploiting their region for a long time. There are many many less competent politicians in Washington as we speak.
  23. QUOTE (MO2005 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) Magglio is not going anywhere and even if he does it will definitely not be here! I don't care if he hits .300, his attitude sucks and there is still friction in this organization on this matter. Let's talk about something that is somewhat realistic here please!! well you are wrong about one thing, Detroit is looking to deal him for sure, and are even thinking about eating some of his salary.
  24. QUOTE (The Critic @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 03:46 PM) Because I thought Jimbo's was an overpriced dump. fixed. Jimbo's was crap.
  25. Man, when are the Grizz on TV? I cant wait to see Mayo, Gay and Conley run the break.
