Its time for KW to face it. Vazquez cannot get it done in the AL. Trade his ass for something, and move BMAC into the rotation. That is the best path for this team right now. McD takes BMAC's spot, or whoever we get for Vaz. Its time to hunker down. BMAC gave us great showings against good teams last year in the 2nd half, its time for Garland, BMAC, and the count to carry this team through its slump.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) Now that certainly is an interesting tidbit of information. bit fishy huh?
-
also, Humberto Sanchez was just scratched from his start tonight. Could detroit have finally given in to Washington/'s demands based on this rumor?
-
I just dont see KW trading our only decent young arm. In a division with some of the best young arms in baseball, I think he realizes that we need BMAC for the future. This seems very fishy to me.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) Ding. Ding. Ding. I always liked you, Rock. Even if the White Sox aquire Soriano, I would imagine he would not even board the plane to Chicago before being moved elsewhere. He just doesnt seem to fit in KW's plans, nor the attitude of this team. it doesnt make sense coming from someone who stocks up on pitching, and defense. This is either a smoke screen which was leaked by someone on KW's payroll, or we are flipping him to another division.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) you could be right, Rauch pitched in the 9th with a 6 run lead yesterday after pitching the day before. That seems to me like a scout audition (I know there were Cardinal scouts in the stands) Oh come on, he was joking. This looks like either a smoke screen to drive up the price on the market for Detroit, or we are flipping him somewhere else where he is needed. I really think that we could get some top notch pitching for Soriano, maybe even switch rentals with the A's and take Zito.

QUOTE(Shamrock4Life @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) but man this deal would be killer, but do we really need more bats? are we doing this just to keep him away from the tigers? this is why kenny gets paid the big bucks and i am just on a message board. Maybe the rumor would make the tigers offer even more for Soriano?

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:39 PM) Now that's been whispered more times in the past 2 months than I have ever heard a rumor before. That would be interesting. Uh huh. It certainly would be. Especially when its now been said he is back on the block.
-
He does Rake against Lefties which is nice. I can only hope he is flipping him to a team who wants to give us a pitcher. Of course this "source" could have been part of KW's plan to make detroit give up Zumaya in the deal.

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) Here's to hoping that IF this is true that Kenny will turn around and deal Soriano to another team for a top SP. Zito?
-
I hope KW realizes that the offense is one of the best in the MLB. We are much more desperate to get an arm in the rotation (BMAC) and deal one of our older overpriced pieces (Vaz). Shipping BMAC for soriano would be a very bad plan for KW, and I do not think he will do it.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:13 PM) I hate this time of the year--and love it. I get so excited about stuff like this and it never comes true. Hopefully, Kurkijan is right. But not for Fields and Broadway. Fields and Broadway is a small price to pay. just not BMAC please.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) I think KW was being sarcastic and just screwing around with his comments the other day. IF ARod is available, he would be an awesome addition to any team. trading arod would be one of the all time worst moves in baseball.

Widger was in tears when interviewed yesterday, and he was DFA'ed because of his game prep. Also Kenny said that the coaching staff had been asking for Alomar for amonth. There is more to this relationship than we know. Better than Widger IMO. it had become obvious that his game prep was lacking as his plan for hitter never changed.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) He's not going to be much of an offensive upgrade over Widger for anyone thinking otherwise. defensively he should be.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) Rock, If you know nothing about the IL then how can you make claims like these? There's a reason why the Knights are kicking everyone's ass this season and Heath Phillips, Charlie Heager, Chad Durbin, Josh Phelps and Kevin Witt are all dominating the International League. Im just comparing stats of the players, I have made that clear from the outset. I really dont care if we trade him, I just think he is better than many people think.

He is going to dial up some power here in the next fews weeks. Then we shall see.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Ugh - Charlotte is a hitters park- agreed but the other players have played in the park as well with worse numbers - The IL is incredibly weak this season.- honestly, no idea - You are only looking at a half a season of offensive production.- sure, but so was Crede's that we were looking at - You are looking to compare this half a season to someone elses full season.- thats the only way I can do it, you can just cut stats in half - You only want to compare AAA numbers to AAA numbers.- well its the easiest comparison. A ball isnt the same as AAA ball - You only want to compare players who have done this in their first 3 years in the minors.-never said that, but its a good comparison of talent prgression. - You want to ignore all past and future performances while only focusing on a single season.- not true, but there is no future seasons for Fields, and this is really his 2nd full season.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Still haven't seen anything w/r/t Gload, so... ... waiting ... Waiting for what exactly? QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) You mean AAA Charlotte which is a huge hitters park and is currently in the incredibly pitching weak IL? So basically what you're doing is trying to find a prospect who had a high batting average and hit a bunch of homeruns in AAA for one season but it has to be one of his first few seasons while ignoring all past and future performance? huh? You lost me there. Are you saying Borchard put up better numbers in his minor league days? Because his OBP and OPS never touched what Fields has done so far this year, its a fact.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:18 PM) The post was about a lot more than him stating he's leaving. Not really. Look at the title. I wish I could find that video of the dude sending shout outs when leaving his board. We wouldnt notice if he was gone, so he had to tell us he was leaving.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:28 PM) yet never see you eat 'yer crow when you're wrong. when was that? If im wrong I admit im wrong. Would you like to check out the Corey Patterson thread in ATH? Thanks for playingl.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:26 PM) Exactly. One of many examples of highly ranked prospects which turn into nothing in the majors. Bad example. Borchard never raked in AAA like Fields. His best year was in AA ball.
-
QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:21 PM) And what the heck is Fields "curve" going to be? He has a lot more to prove. Maybe he won't do this well ever again. Maybe he'll do better. My point is that one great season in the minors does not a great prospect make. Do you get this dewy over ever prospect who has a great half season? Fact is, I hate prospect, I think we should trade them all and not look back, so that facet of your argument is going nowhere my friend. You just arent giving his production enough credit. He has flat out been one of the most dominant hitters in AAA. Not A ball, not AA Birmy, AAA ball for god sakes. Not only that, but he raked in ST as well.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:13 PM) This is off-topic, but weren't you the one guarnanteeing to everybody that Ross Gload was done in the organization and had no chance in hell of making the team? i didnt want him on the team, and I said the the org hated him. Not sure about a guarantee though. And finally, what is your point?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) Joe Crede in '02, ABs with half the strikeouts, 20 points lower on his OPS but 10 more HRs and 10 RBIs. So crede's 6th season in the minors? .312 .359 .571 Fields 2nd season .325 .402 .548 I would say Fields is a little ahead of Joe's curve.
