  1. Listen. Dye has had an MVP type caliber season for the MLB IMO. My pick was Thome, because I sincerely believe that he has changed the way this team hits. Paulie, Dye, Crede, AJ, all of them have benefitted greatly from his addition, and I believe that is serious value to this team.
  2. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 09:07 PM) good lord. Pass the bottle. Its ridiculous.
  3. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 05:36 PM) The similiarities are many. Both teams could hit, with plenty of pop throughout the lineup. Both had a couple stud starting pitchers: Colon/Buehrle in 2003 and Contreras/Buehrle in 2006. Both teams were one of the best teams in baseball. The 2003 team ultimately couldn't even make the playoffs, failing to beat the first-place Twins late in the season when it mattered most. Hopefully the 2006 Sox won't face the same story when playing Detroit. you are horrible. Face it, just a horrible fan.
  4. Ive been saying it all season, the guy sucks behind the plate. He was a flash in the pan, bring up Stewart or pick someone up.
  5. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 02:42 PM) I know some people who would want you hanged for calling a system with bazooka tubes "audiophile" Well, considering they are very ideal for boat systems due to the moisture and space issues, I would say those people dont really know marine audio. If you would like to look at the system in my car, that is another issue. Thanks
  6. I think we should move montero or Tim Redding or Boone Logan for a prospect or two. Im sure someone will overpay for a reliever with ok numbers, and MLB experience.
  7. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) As I get pumped up for this weekend's series, I remembered how obnoxious the Boston fans are, and how many of them will be there this weekend. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think any other visiting team (besides the Cubs) brings as many fans to the Cell as Boston. I don't mean all the way, I mean there's a lot of ex-pats (no pun intended!) that live here in Chicago. And they are obnoxious. Not only at the park, but also at the bar last year where we watched the final sweep of game three in the division series. I'm trying to think of visiting team's fans more obnoxious (Oakland springs to mind, Minnesota), but it's not like there's a lot of them at our home games. Not this weekend, though. You're gonna see a lot of red. I've got my trash-talkin locked n' loaded... That was last year, when they were fresh off of their World Series Title. Like it or not, alot of those fans are now wearing our gear, cheering for our team. With all three games being sellouts, and the whole lower bowl mostly season ticket holders, I would say it will be alot more White Sox fans.
  8. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 12:26 PM) A boat? Maybe you and I need to start hanging out. Yes sir. I have it installed in my boat my 6 component speakers, and 2 bazooka tubes pumping decent bass. Im an audiophile.
  9. From the places I have been to, I would put the cell right up there. I think it is much louder now than before the rennovation. MM Park is loud with the roof closed, but I think the fans just arent as excitable because they are used to keeping their energy low due to the heat. Also the Bee noise is horrible RFK is silent Shea is pretty loud, but there are tons of people there as well. Also the noise reverberates under the canopy. Detroit is avg Cle is avg, the drum sucks Cinci is pretty loud, but not really great. The fans tend to be more relaxed. Wrigley during playoff time is electric from what I saw, though, I still think the cell was louder.
  10. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) Chris Young is hitting .268 with 12 HR's in 250 AB's for Tucson AAA, so he is hardly tearing up Triple A. Nonetheless I think he's a really good prospect, his hand imjury has probably slowed him down this year and personally I believe he'll be a productive major leaguer. As for how good he'll be, it's way too early to speculate, for me anyways. Fact is, what f***ing good would he do for our team this year? Would he have won 9 games? Pitched around 200 innings? I dont f***ing think so. Some people on this board have serious hard ons for prospects with no legit reason.
  11. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Javier Vasquez is a good starter? Uh yeah, I would say so.
  12. You want automatic goosebumps? Go to the 2005 October highlight page.
  13. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) I don't think those guys had the best offense in baseball behind them. They weren't traded for a young stud and another decent reliever as well. And they sure as hell weren't making 10.5 million dollars. Sorry, try again. Yeah, and that was the price we paid to get a good starter as our #5. Apples and oranges could be compared your way as well if you like.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) With the numbers JD is putting up, he's not going anywhere with a 6 million dollar option. ^^^^^^ One of the biggest bargains in baseball.
  15. I love how everyone on this board is a serious budget analyst. We apparently have wasted all of our money on Vaz and have nothing left to fullfill "other needs." Apparently you all are plugged into Jerry's budget for this year. As far as if the team would be better off with BMAC, Young and Viz. How can you say that for sure. The team looks pretty good to me right now. Javy has won 9 games. BMAC has never started for a full season in the majors, who knows if he would have won that many games. You dont know that for sure, f*** he could have been hurt by now, and we could not have another insurance policy and be trading young for Jeff Weaver. This team is good, the pitching is good, the hitting is good and we are winning. Cant anyone be happy?
  16. The best call ever is when Timo came around to score in the ninth. "Comeon Timo, Comeon Timo." Then he describes the scoring and when he says 2 in the Ninth to win it, his voice cracks and went up 10 octaves. Hilarious.
  17. QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) Doing it with 2 outs to start with is amazing to me. Its like every time I try to read your posts on this site, I get distracted by the shiny replica World Series Championship trophy next to my computer....Hi Trophy....I love you too.....
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 05:35 PM) YEAH! EAT s*** RALLY MONKEY, TWINKIES, FALCO, AND BILLY GOAT f***ERS! f***ing cubs fans, too bad b****es, we reign supreme.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) How about everyone walks away from the keyboard for a couple seconds and comes back sans the chips on their shoulders? are you trying to ruin AJ's chances?????
  20. Cubs fans are so gay posting on other sites and whatnot. Sorry bout your team and life sucking so bad.
  21. Come on b****es, lets keep the lead here. Go Go Go.
  22. I have the portable unit, which I dock in the car, but i do it over FM transmit, its not my favorite. I much prefer the built in units, I have a pioneer headunit in my boat that has XM built in, and it works awesome!!
  23. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) I Rock, you and I have a lot of problems. Go Blue! I have my radio set up with an auxilary input and it sounds awesome. That FM Transmitter s*** it for the birds. But built into the car would be cool too. What kind of car? Me and you may come to blows. I am currently looking at 3 different cars, and they all offer built in sat radio. its so effing cool. You just hit sat, just like if it was fm or am. And you are off. The sound quality is amazing!!!
  24. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) it seems like he's gettin better every time out. More confident when he's out there. Also seems like he's striking more guys out. I think Thorton and Riske really were pretty genius moves. We pretty much got two good solid relief pitchers for nothing. Totally. Alot of people dont understand how hard it is to hit a 97mph fastball coming from a LHP. Especially when he cuts it in on righties. Also Riske was very undervalued when we got him. His career ERA is better than Polite's and yet he probably wasnt even as valuable. Strange how that works.
