  1. BMAC is also still building velocity if anyone hasnt noticed. His frame is still filling out, and he is still developing. If he is this good right now, how good is he going to be when he is Buehrle's age?
  2. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) The bottom line is this...I'm rooting for both to do well, it can only help the whole industry. I think in a few years, satellite radio will be hugely successful. I think the industry as a whole as done quite well, considering where it came from. The idea of paying for radio is still foreign to a lot of people, but once you try and product, it f***ing rocks. How nice to be able to listen to music with no commercials, that is uncensored. And to have talk that is not watched by the FCC. And to get a selection when you live in the middle of nowhere. Also, Rock, did you hear that XM and Sirius are working on units that can pull both signals? That is going to be nice. Go to the store, buy a radio, try both services, decide which you like better, if not both, and then choose your progamming. Here is the only issue: They cannot combine without other direct competition. The monopoly laws will not allow it. Directv and Echo tried this, even with other smaller competition it was shot down. Unless a third, and equally powerful Sat radio company emerges, we will continue to see the two services. I am all for something that can pick up both signals and both companies have extreme benefits. I love XM's MLB and big ten coverage, but Sirius has other great programs and Howard for "those" people. ( Tony) Unfortunately, we wont see this merger, or takeover any time soon.
  3. QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) Lynn is a man. Where there is smoke there's fire: http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...380/1004/SPORTS http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/sports/14903173.htm Philly playing there cards close for now, but Henning said on the radio that this talk is legit. An Anchorman?? Would you like the links to the Sox picking up Griffey and Chavez last year?? The best part of those links is the headline for the first story is: Abreu COULD be the Guy from the left side. What a revelation, Abreu bats left handed, and could be good. The second story has Gillick saying he is not interested in trading Abreu. Thanks.
  4. QUOTE(SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) Since then he's gotten 3BB and 10K's, much more Corey-like. He's had a bit of a Corey-like month, with a .326OBP and .356SLG...not looking as rosy now. And yet still out producing the cubs current CF'er in June Pierre: .269 .333 .323 8 SB Bitter taste isnt it?
  5. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 03:41 PM) They are not twice the size. Based on their stock prices and 2005 sales, XM is roughly twice the size of Sirius. That is where I got the info for that statement.
  6. The people in the red shirts generally dont give a s*** about the game IMO. I have been feuding with them for several years until last year when I finally complained about their treatment of season ticket holders. The rude usher no longer works my section from what I can see. She was the worst.
  7. QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 03:58 AM) Prior probably would have been better if he had gone to Minny. Healthier for sure. I have never seen an organization so clueless about rehab than the cubbies.
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) No love for the closer huh. What about Bobby Jenks. He is probably at the top tier of closer right now in the league. True he is. But I would still rather have Liriano etc. SP's tend to be more consistent than closers. And im still worried about the screw holding his arm together.
  9. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 03:20 PM) wow. im going to go out on the limb and say that this team's got enough f***ing offense. let's hold onto our young pitchers and take our chances with clutch cintron and d-stud uribe. this team does not need tejeda, not at that price tag (both for what we would give up and his salary) I would trade anyone not named BMAC
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:29 PM) I twas just joking around my friend...I simply enjoyed that little jpg i found. My day was also not ruined by the Sox loss, in fact if you look at who started this thread because of leaving early, it was me!!! I'm not even a real diehard fan, just some imposter! I left early, im a bandwagon fan.
  11. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:53 PM) http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/060626/sirius_sate...e_ceo.html?.v=1 XM is twice the size that Sirius is, he may be interested, but XM could buy him before he buys XM.
  12. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Well, there ain't a chance in hell the O's move Tejada during the season but if such a trade were to come up I would certainly pull the trigger. Im just mentioning it because Tejada is on rumor central with the Angels showing interest. I would be interested, especially with the Tigers most likely looking at more talent as well. Tejada woud bring another good bat, leadership, and good fielding to our team.
  13. Would you trade Fields+others for Tejada?
  14. QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:47 PM) Bobby Abreu Lynn Henning (Det News) on 1270 here in Detroit said he would be shocked if Detroit didnt land Bobby, or a similar type talent. He certainly thinks Gillick and Dombrowski are working on the Abreu deal. He said Sanchez and Monroe could get it done, but Philly wants Sanchez and Thames.. It's on fella's So, basically this broad said that the Tigers would pick up some form of talent, at some position, from somewhere. Sounds legit.
  15. Liriano is the most dominant at one of the youngest ages. He is Santana 2.0
  16. QUOTE(innersanctum @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) I left the game early, but not too early. Security made me leave in the 13th for a stupid reason I would rather not talk about (I didn't even get to keep the souvenier). The game was over before I got to my car though so I didn't see what happened. I heard about it though. Dumb luck them Everett and Tavares kids have! If that was you, i wouldnt admit it like that.
  17. QUOTE(heirdog @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) After he went 0-for in his first 4 at-bats last night, Thome should have switched and batted righty. That way, the pitcher might have been confused if they could still pitch him inside and put it out over the plate...Oh I can't even finish writing this. People please, even the great Albert Pujols has days like Thome did last night and Hall of Famers go into slumps too. Please save this thread for the time when Thome is 2 for his last 30 and batting .250. WHo would have thought that Thome's production this season would match his career avg??? Holy crap what a surprise!!!!!!!!!
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 12:07 PM) And.....thread. Give him his media watches back, this topic is just plain pathetic.
  19. QUOTE(Hangar18 @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Pitchers foolish enough to throw you something down the middle are few and far between. The others have decided to pitch you inside, inside, inside inside, until you get yourself out. Please take the Walks like you were doing early in the year, your trying to hit a homer on every pitch doesnt always work. Thanks and Good Luck 1st in AL in HR 2nd in AL in R 8th in AL in OBP 4th in AL in OPS 4th in AL in RBI 4th in AL in BB 2nd in AL in SLG Yes, he needs your advice.
  20. Javy was ONE pitch away from keeping this game at 2-1. One freaking hanger. So maddening.
  21. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 11:48 PM) Didn't we have a thread already about this? NEVER count out this team. Don't be an idiot. The fans who stayed=class/loyal. Oh come on, people who leave early from a game are classless and not loyal, please.
  22. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) I will go on the record in his defense and say that what El Duque did against Boston last year will be more significant than anything Vazquez EVER does in a Sox uniform. But otherwise, I'd rather have neither of them at this point. So was Geoff Blum's HR. Would you rather have him too?
  23. QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) I'm glad the Sox were finally able to win 9 straight after not being able to get past 8 consecutive wins the past two years, but should it count? 8 of the 9 wins came against the inferior National League, which isn't even in the same league as the Sox--literally. How much thought did you put into this topic?
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 09:20 AM) I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I believe Dustin is done. Hermy is done, all it will take it one more game situation to prove it though. He is not needed with the aqusition of Riske. Trade bait, or nothing at all.
  25. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 01:44 PM) St. Louis, Cincinatti, and Milwaukee are good offensive teams. The NL Central is a pretty strong division, hitting-wise. Did you see the Team OPS post, or no? Baltimore is actually 15th. You have 7 NL teams ranked in the Top 15. It's not that the NL sucks at hitting, it's just that the AL (particularly the East, Good God) is so much crazier. No offense to your reasoning. But there is correlation between their offensive production and the weakness of the NL and its pitching. Especially in that division. I think we have seen the different in interleague play. Also NL pitchers get to face other pitchers at least 3 times a game, which also makes going through the lineup easier. There is a difference of about 1 run when moving from NL to AL. Look at Bronson Arroyo. He is an Ace in that division, and could barely make it in the AL. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 01:31 PM) WHIP ratio is the most important criteria IMO, but it's not the only criteria. And the fact that he is the most unhittable pitcher in the bigs certainly plays into WHIP, no? Wouldnt you say that Liriano's WHIP makes him a better pitcher than Zambrano at this point?
