QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 04:03 PM) Aww damn, Crede and BA were there too? I had to rush back into the room when I heard one of them announcers say "And we had some special guests here at halftime"...I only managed to make out Konerko, Cotts, BMac (hard to miss) and Man So Lee I think. Baines, Polite. They were sitting right behind us, I happen to know Neil and his gf pretty well, so I got to say hi to the guys. total surprise.

I have a few, I will go chronologically. Bacardi-Drank a fifth when I was on a cruise in HS with my parents and friends. Drank a few beers, had some more shots, a little something else, and puked the whole flight home to chicago from San Juan. To this day, the bottle makes me cringe. 151- In my fraternity, big brother night is a huge party. And your big usually gets you messed up. I was best friends with my big's real little brother so he took it extra hard on me. I had to finish, or come close to finishing a bottle of 151. I dont remember a thing other than waking up on a slide in the day care building's playground, no shirt, no shoes. To this day, the bottle makes me ill. Black House/Rumplemints: College. Wager. Shots. Puking. Never again Jager: Being a bartender in college, this was all we drank, I cant anymore Mezcal: A friend told me it was the best and only real tequilia, tasted like burnt wood, makes me gag when I smell it. I had lots of bad experiences, from college and being a long time bartender I had soured from many a drink after much overexposure. I still do not drink clear liquor to this day.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Can someone post a good pic of what the park looked like originally? There have been so many changes, I've forgotten. I just did Los. Heres a link so you can see a couple of angles. New Comiskey

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) I think people complaining about them was moreso stemming from frustrations that the seats were not filled with fans. If you remember, the season after they built the new stadium, the trend went towards retro ballparks. New Comiskey is credited with this movement because alot of people realized how terrible the "futuristic" trend looked. There were no parks built in its mold since it opened.

remember when there was no fan deck?

Meh, god awful. Look at the horrible concrete, the white piping and the blue walls/seats.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Petco doen't feel like a true ballpark? I honestly don't like the green seats, but so many damn people complained about them for years. I think the ballpark would've looked great with just a darker shade of blue seats. Petco wasnt nearly as badly designed as the first version of US CEllular, hence all of the changes that have taken place. You can compare ballparks all day if you would like, the original US Cellular mold wasnt copied for several reasons.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) If Thome stays healthy, which he should, I see no way in hell Thome and Anderson don't outperform Thomas + Rowand + Everett...Thomas did only play a month and hit like .219, though every other f'in AB seemed like a homer. I am not expecting a lot out of Anderson, quite honestly...I'd be satisfied with .250 10 .320/.400/.720, so long as he plays gold glove caliber defense in CF. I dont mean to dissapoint you, but there is no way in hell he plays GG caliber defense this year. He is a rookie.

Guys newsflash: EVERY fan of EVERY team thinks they can get a player for garbage prospects. Look at our trade wins forum. How many people thought that Baj and Borchard would net us a real player? Go back to the Chavez trade threads and see how many people though crede/gload would net us Chavez.

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) Agreed. We were one of the only teams in the league with blue seats, now because the park didnt get the media approval during the 2003 All-Star game, they felt it was time to get back to the copy-cat method and try to look like everyone else, esp Wrigley. That was evident with the ivy.... The blue seats were something that made the Cell unique with the new ballparks. I felt they looked great, but oh well, I guess we'll see how much darker it will get. Come on, the green seats make it feel more like a ballpark. DO you remember when the damn OF walls were blue? The place looked like a steel mill. It looks better with more ballpark friendly colors and tones. With more brick, green, black, the place looks sharper.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) I totally agree with that. Especially since Uribe is prone to go through prolonged slumps at the bat. Having a free swinger like him batting second doesn't make any sense. Did you like Iguchi in the #2 slot?

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 30, 2006 -> 08:32 AM) Amen on GURU and early Outkast (especially ATLiens). I can't say Jurassic 5 though, I was a big fans of theirs...but then saw them live in concert last summer, and it left a lot to be desired. Whoa, I saw Jurassic 5 in concernt this year for a benefit, and it was by FAR the best Rap concert I have ever been to. ATLiens is probably one of my top 5 albums of all time.

QUOTE(GreenSox @ Jan 29, 2006 -> 10:47 AM) Anderson will get the job this year. But Pods and Dye will be out of here in a couple of years, so there will be plenty of room for young outfielders, if Owens can make the grade. When Pods leaves, Owens will take his place. Thats the plan. They are the same player. With that said, I believe they are hoping when Dye's contract is up that Sweeney will be able to step in and take the position, giving them Owens, Anderson, Sweeny for several years.

QUOTE(heirdog @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 03:31 PM) First of all, I don't disagree that Jon was probably the best, most consistent pitcher from start to finish. But I do still disagree about the 2nd best in the 2nd half part because BMac was in the rotation down the stretch. 2nd half (post All-Star game stats): Garland: 5 W 6L; 3.65 ERA in 99.6 innings McCarthy: 3 W 1L; 1.70 ERA in 42.2 innings So while Garland may have had more work (not quite 3 times), I don't equate that to 3 times the value. BMac's W/L and ERA more than stack up to Jon's in the second half. That is why I brought up the Jenks/Hermanson example...Jenks got many less save opps in the second half but was in my mind clearly the best closer in the second half. Yes I understand statistics. I was speaking about the pitchers that we would have considered our "rotation" meaning the ones who actually were on the roster in the playoffs and the beginning of the season. I didnt even include BMAC in my assessment nor am I.

Whoa whoa whoa, when did we trade Babchuk???? Wait, I saw it. Damn. That kid had a great shot from the point.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) I still don't think that the fanbase will ever grow until home games are televised. And put in HD. Their games are so crappy quality wise its hard to watch.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) The case really isnt whos better... they both arent starting caliber. It's whos cheaper to keep as a backup, that'd be Kyle Orton, thank you. I've had enough of the Rex Grossman expierence and its time to look for a new answer there. How had you had enough? Hes played less games than Orton.
