QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 10:57 PM) I think Olney's trying to say the Cubs would now trade Marshall, who is someone that the Padres would want more than any of the other guys. or potentially samardjiza...though he does have a NTC i believe

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) I dont even know why I try to post at mlbtr.com the cubs fans on there are pretty much retarded. Sean Marshall has become the next Tom Glavine for alot of Cubs fans. Hendry basically has Vitters left in his farm system. They are banking on him becoming a stud. Ceda was the the guy I really thought they should have kept around. their system is horrible...almost as bad as ours was a year and a half ago.... this is great news IMO...i think it makes a peavy deal less and less likely...especially given that they are stacking middle relievers

For those of you staying in...what are you guys planning? I was thinking of trying some homemade wings. Obviously Chili is popular, and taco dip. Any good recipes? I had some cranberry salsa that was fantastic that I'll try to dig up a recipe for

it was always so tough for me in college...but not because of what the cafeteria served...IMO there were plenty of healthy options available and at a school like michigan I have to think there still are...we had a couple of sandwich places where you could get a wrap or wheat bread, a couple of vegetarian places...we even had a stir fry place which wasn't horrendous for you ..you could even get a taco salad with chicken......my cafeteria always had a baked chicken, that frankly stunk, but it was high in protein and low in fat.....also smoothies for breakfast....what burned me was drinking, ordering pizza, making frozen bagel bites, going out to dinner, etc....its really tough in college IMO...whatever you do id say try to get into a good workout routine..that can always be done, no matter what is available to eat, and if you can cut back a bit on what you eat you will begin to lose weight and for anyone else reading the thread...la tortilla tomato basil soft wraps...100 calories...12g fiber (nearly half daily value) and only like 10% of daily carbs....i made a wrap with some perdue chicken strips, lettuce, carrots, sliced almonds and fat free asian salad dressing...really good

another guy who would seem like a good fit to me would be ty wigginton...i'm sure he's looking to start somewhere, but that this point in the offseason he may have to take what he can get....he has hit .310/.389/.568 against lefties over the last three years...he can play 3rd and the OF...probably can't still play 2b, but if he could he would be extremely valuable on our team vs. LHP...not to mention he could even just DH against lefties, giving thome the day off

weighed in at 240 today...down 2 from monday been eating alot of salad and working out everyday (1.5 miles running, and 15 minutes on the bike with about 5-10 min of jump rope, plus some weights here and there) overall down 7 lbs in about 10 days...obviously i expect that pace to slow, but if i can manage 2 lbs a week for a few months, i'd be thrilled

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 06:00 AM) I hate the taste of tea. It tastes like there was something really good in the cup beforehand and then someone poured hot water into that same cup without washing it. It's such a half ass taste. along the same lines as a half ass taste...i hate vitamin water, propel, or any of that crap....gimme either a gatorade, or just plain water...not half a cup of each

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) Anti-semitic means Jewish culture. Anti-religion is any religious group. haha ok, i was just trying to make a joke...the distinction is noted

You've had your last Best's Kosher Hot Dog at a Sox game
daa84 replied to Linnwood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
i know i'll sound like a moron here....but at the games, you could get a Kosher hot dog that was like 4.50. I assume those are beef hot dogs since they are kosher, right? They also sold the hot dogs that were not kosher dogs...the ones that were $1 on thursdays...those were pork, right? And who made those dogs? Did Best Kosher make both the non-Kosher dogs as well as the Kosher ones? -
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 07:32 PM) What is something that you dislike that many people would look at you funny if you told them that you didn't like it? Warning: Nothing racist, sexist, anti- semitic, anti- religious, or anti-gay. Also, no wishing death or injury upon a person. Example: I never liked beer and I think that Pro Wrestling is mindlessly unimportant. i hate people who are redundant

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 04:08 PM) I like him because I think he was singled out in the steroids deal unfairly. His stats also make my eyes pop out of my head. while i agree with both things you said...neither of those things makes me like bonds...i still hate him, even if he was singled out and had an incredible career

someone asked me if i could have one condiment on my hot dog, what would it be? the answer, ketchup. However, if I could have a hot dog with any number of condiments on it..I would get it chicago style without ketchup.

gotta side with fathom on this....all these moves the cubs have been making...marquis, derosa, pie...all point to a peavy trade...and if it happens, it will be discouraging that the cubs would have gotten one of the best pitchers in the game for a good prospect but one who is allergic to the base on balls (vitters) and a bunch of garbage...though it will certainly plummet the cubs farm system to the worst in baseball the cubs are a big deal to alot of people, even if they aren't to you....you may not care, but fathom, alot of other people on this site and I watch the cubs with great frequency, almost every game possible....if you don't care about em so be it...but let guys like me and fathom hate on em if we want to. I hate teams in every single sport (florida gators, Eagles, USC etc) ...frankly most die hard fans that I know in any sport root against certain teams...and rooting against the other team in town, while not a necessity to be a fan, is part of the fabric of what chicago baseball is

always sunny in philly scrubs watched 2 episodes of philly and probably a half dozen scrubs...and had a small chuckle maybe once an episode...it just struck me that both shows try way too hard to be funny with jokes that frankly...aren't

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 08:35 AM) Boy oh boy, where to begin. First and foremost on my list is Barack Obama. Next up is whatever the fashion of the day is. Crocs, Uggs, Coach... If it means spending multiple times as much money for a basic fashion item because of its name alone, forget it. Reality TV. Why does anyone watch American Idol anymore? It is the most dull and predictable thing on the planet. As for the rest of reality TV, its simple, you find the biggest bunch of jerks across the spectrum of humanity, put them into a "stressful" situation, and act surprised when they act like idiots. No thanks. Wrestling, Ultimate fighting, Boxing etc. No interest in things where the primary objective is to beat the s*** out of each other, even worse if it involves dudes in tights and fancy costumes. Anything to do with celebs doing stuff outside of what they are good at. I don't care who is dating who, who is angry, who is drunk, or who is in rehab. Awards show. Emmy's, Tony's, Grammy, ESPY's etc. Boring and self-serving. We all pretty much already have our favorites, why bother? Daytime television. Talk shows, judge shows etc are just awful. Most of it goes back to the reality TV formula. if not for the bolded part i would nominate this as post of the year

just looking at kalapses chart....we were at 99 mil....take away javys 11.5, swishers 5.3, add colons 1, add jenks 5.6...plus philly is still paying part of thome's salary....so we really do have a payroll at 85 mil right now though i know we gave viciedo a 4 mil bonus, which obviously doesn't count toward payroll, but that money has to come from somewhere...along with the 2mil we paid for griffeys buyout still, going from 110 to 85 is extremely significant and discouraging, especially given that we likely won't make any more moves of significance

these are exactly the type of debates i have such a hard time taking a side on should the HOF be for the best players or best at each position? when i look back over the course of Kent's career...i wouldnt have listed him as among the top 10 players in that time frame....there are only 230 players in the HOF among tens of thousands that have played...however clearly he is one of the best second basemen of the last 30 years, and that seems to count for something, otherwise it seems the HOF would be flooded with OF and 1b... however, kent's power numbers are what would put him in, but frankly he did it during a time when hitting 377 HR was approached by guys like greg vaughn, matt williams and larry walker....

j4l...thanks man, boston market is the perfect type thing i was lookin for...good change of pace...relatively healthy, and i actually like boston market...for whatever reason it never occured to me to check it out...and like you said finding something good to eat that is filling is important... a good snack/dessert is popcorn cooked on the stove...usually i eat two recommended servings...which comes to 220 calories plus whatever is in the tablespoon or so of veg. oil i cook it in....it does have quite a bit of carbs...52 grams i believe in 2 servings (20% of recommended daily) but if you aren't taking in carbs during the rest of the day it won't kill you...plus it has alot of that hard to get fiber...14 grams in 2 servings (40%)...plus its very filling for a good post dinner snack(more so than eating 220 calories worth of rice cakes) and really damn cheap...
