  1. personally i think people are naive if they don't believe that this s*** was just about everywhere...there may be some guys who didn't, i dont deny that, but for athletes, their bodies are their careers, and big money careers at that...Hell i think you would be hard pressed to find a high school football team at a large high school that doesn't have at least one student experimenting with steroids
  2. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 02:25 AM) Exactly, just like you don't drink a bottle of Tequila the first time you try alcohol and you don't shoot a speed ball into your neck the first time you try drugs. Phelps is a stoner and probably has been for a while. this isn't necessarily true...i doubt the bong is actually his...the most casual pot smokers dont buy pot and just smoke with their friends on occasion out of whatever their friends are smoking from...for instance he could have been at a party...some of his friends say, hey do you want to hit this? whats he supposed to do, say oh no im a lightweight, can you put it in a one hitter for me
  3. you don't have to completely transform your body in order to have done roids...clemens was always really thick and he had a solid base to build on when he was a rookie...also you have to remember guys like brian roberts, alex sanchez, derrick turnbow etc have all been juicers...you dont have to add significant bulk to have juiced
  4. QUOTE (FranktheTank35 @ Feb 9, 2009 -> 12:46 AM) Whoever says this guy is fat is crazy.. he looked ripped. hes not fat, but hes chubby...uniforms hide nothing, when you see guys who look fat in uniform out of their uniforms, they look suprisingly smaller...when that kid gets in uniform you'll see hes pretty big....right now is weight isn't an issue anyways, its just a worry moving forward as he ages
  5. i have to think in this economy the phillies would have won the arb case, but i maybe they didnt want to go through that mess
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 12:28 PM) If we go out and splurge and get Hudson/Abreu that would make our offense pretty sick. We have a late draft pick anyways so not really overly worried about that. if someone signs cabrera and we get a draft pick, then i would consider going after hudson on the cheap
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Feb 8, 2009 -> 12:11 AM) tonights performance thus far is proving you right khabby crapping the bed tonight too...i guess this is one you hope you just forget
  8. tough loss...but a good game against a good team...in the end just too much dirk from a very talented and veteran team...rose has to learn to finish out in big games...at the end when he starts to drive everyone knows he's taking it....he's gotta learn to dish it out when they double or even triple him at the end of the game
  9. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) I hope that the closer we get to the playoffs... Q gives the lionshare of playing time to Khabby, because he's the guy I want between the pipes come playoff time. Huet has recovered from a miserable early season slump, but Khabby has in my mind played himself into the starting goalie role for the playoffs. Not to mention the guy already has already won a cup, and played in a bunch more playoff games. tonights performance thus far is proving you right
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 7, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) Man, Amare's numbers have really taken a dive this season now that I look at them. Scoring down from 25 last year to 20 this year, 1 less rebound per game, 1 less block per game, 0.6 more turnovers per game, and that's in more minutes than last year as well. Either he's not the same player once you take him out of the SSOL offense or something's catching up with him. in the past he was the suns only post presence and on the few occasions where they were in the half court they fed him the ball alot...theyve been using shaq a ton this season and it has taken away from amare IMO...also as an offense the suns are scoring 5ish fewer points than last year....either way he is an upgrade over anything we have
  11. 236...i am pumped to have lost a pound...i weighed myself the morning of and day after the superbowl and that was bad news...i was back almost to 240 after the superbowl but im back down to 236 and looking to really step it up and get to 230 and lower....i feel great and am building my endurance running...i run into trouble eating dinner sometimes, but im still limiting myself and eating far more healthy than i used to
  12. the truth is that nobody is 100% clean i dont think..maybe tony gwynn and ripken were...but you never know
  13. i would have to imagine that the portland deal proposed above or the heat deal above would be better deals to take than anything the bulls could offer....with the heat, i guess they don't want marion back, at least not at his salary, but beasley would be a perfect block for them.....and portland i would think aldridge would be very appealing plus a pick or two...i guess the bulls can maybe offer a better package, with more quantity of players, at more affordable price, but i think the top end talent is better in the other two offers
  14. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Feb 6, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) I had those, but these are the shoes he was talking about. http://www.frankthomascollection.com/Reebok_Page_5.html The tennis shoe version was much more obnoxious, from what I remember. And wow, did I just find my new favorite site. the ones he is wearing in that pic on the top are not them...but they are the ones in the middle on the bottom
  15. i can't find a pic unfortunately...but when i was in little league, i had the frank thomas cleats with the zebra stripes, on the back they had "big hurt 35" on em...alot of kids had em but they were sweet...if anyone can find a pic of them, or of the big hurt wearing em I would love to see it
  16. i am 24 years old and I got a pair of just the generic doc martens the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of high school...so that was, 2000...its amazing that they still fit, but even more amazing that they've lasted this long
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 02:32 PM) I can't stand the holier than thou people who say we're stupid for finding today interesting because recruiting is inexact and these are 17 and 18 year old kids. They are idiots, today is the college football version of the NFL draft, except the teams get a lot more players today than they do that day in April. Anybody who says today isn't important but follows the NFL Draft (and the latter group includes almost everybody who says today isn't important) is a hypocrite. Michael Wilbon, who I normally like, is one of those people and he should be ashamed. I think some people talk today and it's importance over the top, but most people (like everybody posting in this thread today) take the events of this day for what they are and just have fun with them. And sorry for that rant, but I wanted to throw this topic out there. theres a huge difference, and if you can't see that i'm sorry. nobody knows a damn thing about 98% of these high school players, other than what we read on scouts, rivals etc. We read scouting reports, but never see most of em play (short of a few highlight clips) so we don't know a damn thing about em. I can read a scouting report on Hawthorne and see he's fast and has good size, but the report says same thing for Appleton. You can't debate which one youd rather have, except for maybe saying that espn has one graded an 81 and the other an 82. You can intelligently debate with the NFL draft. In the NFL draft you can say...oh I want stafford over sanchez, or sticking with receivers harvin over nicks. You have a feel for the player having seen them play in college. You can also get a feel for their competition and how well they did against top competition. This isn't to denigrate signing day, but rather break your comparison to the NFL draft. Recruiting determines a gigantic amount of the success a program has, so the culmination of all that on signing day is obviously important, and I would never say it is unimportant. Signing day is a sort of scoreboard for college football. You look to see how many recruits you get, how those recruits are graded by experts, but can formulate no actual personal opinion on most of these players having never seen them. For instance, I have no idea whether Green (can't recall the first name) will make a better RB or DB. I mean I understand why signing day is exciting for alot of college football die hards, it is very important. It tells you what kind of talent will be coming into your program in future years, and in that regard it is similar to the NFL draft, but its also alot different in so many respects, as stated above. Thats why the fans and media will always treat the NFL draft as a much bigger deal than Signing day...because of familiarity with players, not level of importance
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) This is actually a great WR class if you ask me: Crabtree, Britt, Nicks, Robiskie, Iglesias, and Heyward-Bey. maclin and harvin?
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 06:33 PM) Classic games. Can be somewhat edited for time if you want. But if I'm sitting around on a Sunday now that football's over and the only thing on is the Spurs playing whoever, and Don Larsen's perfect game is on, or one of Willy Mays's better games is on, or just about anything like that, there's a reasonable chance I'm tuning in to the baseball game. They've got to have like 60 years of footage right now right? How many great games are there per season? don't have mlb network, but i totally agree with this....for alot of us younger guys we didn't even get to see much of guys like mike schmidt, willie stargell, let alone the guys like williams dimaggio etc....i know tapes of games may be difficult to come by but it would be cool to see
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 4, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) Government unsealed a lot of the Bonds evidence today. One interesting thing I noticed was the results for the 2000 and 2001 tests he took which tested positive for various steroids, tests which are key to the government case. The interesting thing was...I don't recall anyone ever describing Bonds taking the drugs he tested positive for. According to the books that are out there, Bonds's steroid use started after the 1998 home run challenge between McSteroid and Steroidosa. The stuff he supposedly started taking was Winstrol, the drug Palmeiro tested positive for, which led to his tearing of his bicep in '99. And then after that, he switched to the THG program from BALCO. I don't believe anyone has outlined a part of the story yet where those drugs fit in. Thus, once again adding to my contention that you have to question the man's whole bloody career, because you just don't have a clue what he started taking when. the tape of anderson talking with bonds in my opinion is absoultely enough evidence to convict....
  21. end thread. lock up, throw away key. burn.

  23. QUOTE (BearSox @ Feb 3, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) The only ways I see this is happening is the following: 1.) We are planning on trading one of Dye, Konerko, Thome (unlikely, but the most likely of all the scenarios I see) 2.) We plan on playing Abreu in CF (highly unlikely, maybe when he was younger) 3.) We plan on moving Konerko to 3B and Abreu/Dye to 1B (extremely unlikely considering how we signed Vicindi and with all the high praises for Fields) Odds are that this is BS anyway. god help us if its anything besides 1...I have a better chance playing 3rd for the sox this year than Konerko, so #3 is out, and i dont think anyone in the sox front office is actually willing to play abreu in Cf so i dont see that happening
