Everyone's favorite just came out with his top 100 prospects in baseball. I actually think this is fairly accurate of our guys. Viciedo was among the 10 that just missed the list according to Law

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 21, 2009 -> 05:26 PM) A little too much information in this one. http://cache.gawker.com/assets/util/videoM...URL=fisting.flv haha thats hilarious, but uh...what the hell was that lady even trying to say with that?

Keith Law had us 23rd among the franchises in regards to strength of farm systems...Rangers, Rays, A's, Braves and Indians were top 5...cubs were 27th Jim Callis in his chat had this to say I would rate our system as probably somewhere between the two. Which is saying quite alot given that a year and half ago we were in the bottom 2

college did a number on my body, and now that I'm a year and a half removed i've been trying to make up for 4 years of horrendously unhealthy living. I'm not too concerned with strength training, but am trying to lose weight, so naturally I'm looking for cardio. Right now, I don't belong to a gym, but have a treadmill and bike in the basement. I just bought a jump rope also. Anyone got any good cardio workouts that can be done indoors during the winter (outside of the bike, treadmill, and jump rope)?

ok, so one tough thing for me, is that I eat out quite a bit...now obviously when you eat out, its tough to eat healthy. I've heard to live by the rule that if it sounds unhealthy, it probably is, and if it sounds healthy, its probably just as bad. I mean some salads out there have 1000 cal and 100g of fat. I haven't read the entire thread, and maybe this is somewhere in here (I probably should look first) but what are good options if you are eating out? Either for a quick lunch, or even a dinner, what are some good dishes? What are some "healthy" foods to avoid? Obviously, subway is a great place for me for lunch. I get either a Salad with Roasted chicken and Fat Free Honey Mustard, or sometimes i'll indulge and take on the carbs of the $5 footlong oven roasted chicken with the honey mustard. I wish I knew how to replicate theirdamn fat free honey mustard, its way better than mayo IMO. Ruby Tuesday has a great salad bar, and usually has fat free dressing. I tried Sweet Tomatoes the other day, and its a nice salad bar with alot of healthy options. The problem there is that being a buffet, I was tempted by the dessert line and their little pizza things. Its easy to get bored/sick of eating salad all the time, so what else is pretty good and relatively healthy to grab? Also, for those who do eat alot of salad at home, obviously its critical to find that good healthy dressing. Anyone got good fat-free or even Lite suggestions? I can do the fat free Zesty Italian by Kraft, but what else you guys got?

salary being neutral...pujols still has at least 4 MVP calibur seasons in him IMO...the guys a freak...his numbers are on an entire different level than anyone elses right now IMO...I don't think you can necessarily look at any one other player and say almost for sure that he will be a top 3 MVP candidate for 4+ years in the future....even though hes 29, i still think you can say that about fat albert

well im getting back on the wagon here....i currently weigh about 242 and have already lost 5 lbs or so. My goal is to hit 215 by sometime near june-ish. I have very little on my schedule between now and August as I am just working on finishing up my thesis. I am 24 now and I basically feel if I can't get in shape now, when I have nothing to do, then I never will. I start medical school in August and I can't think I'm gonna have a whole lot of time then, so I really need to get this done now. I started at about 247 (about a week ago) and am already down to 242. Being out of shape, I'm not much of a runner, but I've been doing a 1-1.5 miles per day so far to go along with some other cardio workouts + just some light weight lifting. I'd like to be able to run a 5K or two once spring starts, and I know if I keep running 5-6 days a week that should be easily achievable.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) Eww. Awful performance tonight. the power play has really been struggling the last few games

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) He's a catcher. And the consensus best non-pitching prospect in baseball right now. He's DOMINATED in his two seasons in the minors. He's a favorite to win the ROY. Most think, and I agree, that he'll be better than Joe Mauer. haha and i love it that the cubs passed on him in the draft

im not a huge fan of those guys missing a big chunk of ST, but on the flip side...with AJ, Danks, Quentin, Thornton, Dotel gone for alot of ST, i'd imagine we would see alot of Flowers, Poreda, Richard, Marquez, Owens and Anderson. Again, not that its preferable, but it will at least create more openings in the normal ST games to get a good look at young guys and guys battling it out for positions

nice f***ing game gordon....god that guy is unbelievably frustrating...

Luol is playing really well today....he's looked pretty good since coming back from injury...hopefully now that he's healthy he'll get it going consistently like he did 2 years ago

Mac gone from Mac, Jurko and Harry
daa84 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
its too bad, i kinda liked mac...but adding carmen is an upgrade...MJH is an entertainment show before sports show it seems to me and i dont think mac offered anything in the way of sports analysis that will be missed...even though he's a cub fan, i like teiney the best of anyone on that show, and i am also a huge defalco fan...maybe mac should go to the score and take over for dan hampton...for as good of a D lineman as he was, hes that bad at radio -
so basically this question is .....are we better now than we were before the vazquez trade....it all depends on how that extra money is used...right now 1 mil of the 11 on javy salary was used on colon...which is a pretty good start...that leaves 10 mil unaccounted for...but we'll see how thats used... i think sox fans who hated javy (jated havy) and are so excited that he is gone need to realize how important and valuable 600+ IP (over 3 years) at average to slightly above league average performance is....thats not to say we can't make up those innings with other players, but its not the easiest thing in the world to do

when i was about 12 years old I was the the Toboggan Slides at Swallow Cliff in Palos, and some girl was waiting in line at the top and thought it would be a good idea to lick the snow off the metal fence post....Tongue got stuck, and the girl tried to pull away...needless to say there was blood everywhere and a huge chunk of skin still stuck to the fence post when they rushed her down the slides and off to the hospital....to this day one of the grossest things i've ever seen in person

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 05:04 PM) No, you got me completely. Bah. I didn't want to be the jagoff who was making a joke if someone actually perished. well to make up for it i'll throw another relevant simpsons quote back "there must be some successful simpson here. What do you do for a living? I shoot birds at the airport"

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 03:13 PM) Hence why signing a 2nd lefty for the pen could be shrewd acquisition. Someone like Joe Beimel or Dennys Reyes would be ideal, but they are probably asking for more than KW is willing to give I would imagine. not that this means anything, but a buddy of mine in the know said we signed Erasmo Ramirez (lefty reliever) to a minor league deal....he'll probably be AAA roster filler, but the sox will invite him to camp...he has 90 appearances in teh bigs, but at this point im sure its just to fill out the minor league rosters
-
Erasmo Ramirez was given a minor league deal...I believe he spent some time in the bigs with the rangers...he's a lefty reliever, spent last year in AAA Nashville with the Brewers AAA team...a good buddy of mine works for his agent and told me

John Manuel of Baseball America apparently like beckham quite a bit ....

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jan 14, 2009 -> 11:19 PM) I’ve never been a hockey fan, but it’s an absolute pleasure to watch these young Blackhawks play. same as me...i've never watched hockey really until this year...i guess im jumping on the bandwagon...part of it is that they are good im sure, part of it is that they are on tv now, alot of it is that I have time to watch them right now, and alot of it is that I am back in chicago for the first winter in 5 years, but I watch em just about every night I can....and I am digging it alot more than anticipated...this team is pretty f***ing good
-
