  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 08:45 PM) Color me not impressed. Coming off of a trip almost to the World Series, their two top signings are Zobrist and Lackey. Honestly it reminds me of the White Sox winter last year, in that all are second or third tier guys. For a team that is going to be one of the most profitable, probably in all of sports, I'd be pretty pissed if I was a Cubs fan that they didn't bring in A level talent to go with that offense. Not sure I agree with you WAR each of the last 5 years Ben Zobrists: 6.3, 5.8, 5.8, 5.5, 2.1 Melky Cabrera: 3.8, 4.5, -0.8, 2.5, -0.3 Adam LaRoche: -0.3, 3.6, 0.6, 1.6, -1.4 Zobrist: 14 mil/year Melky: 14 mil/year LaRoche: 12.5 mil/year Yes 4 years is excessive, but had to overpay by at least 1 year. Ben Zobrist has been a really good player. Moving to NL, hitting in that lineup, he's a perfect fit IMO
  2. debatable on whether to root for Minnesota or Seattle today. I think the Bears have a decent chance to catch Minnesota if Minnesota loses today (Min @ ari next week, then vs bears) Blaine Granberg is such trash. Can't believe he, jake locker, and Christian ponder were high first rounders in the same draft. Grabbert and Locker were taken ahead of JJ Watt
  3. that play fairly significantly hurts what slim playoff hopes the bears had . You gotta figure that Seattle at 6-5, and with a tie breaker will end up with a wild card spot ahead of the bears. Clearly one of GB or Min will win the division, so the bears have to catch the other. A GB loss and bears win on Sunday would have put the bears 1 back of GB and at least with hope. Now the bears best hope is that Minn loses to Seattle and Arizona in the next two weeks (certainly very possibly, and perhaps even likely). If the bears take care of SF and Was, it would set up a huge game in Min with the bears 7-6 and MIn 8-5
  4. so many incidents have happened in the past few years, but this is the one that by far is the most f***ed up. He will be convicted of murder and a lot of people are gonna be in deep s*** for trying to quiet this
  5. if a play is obviously called incorrect upon video review, it should be reviewable. Don't know what more to say about it.
  6. Clemson stormed the field. Really? You are number 1 and you beat the 16 team. Seems quite silly
  7. I haven't followed this thing that closely, but is this that surprising? Wasn't there a s*** ton of doubt from the get go? Ie absolutely no leads on the supposed 3 suspects. Absolutely no witnesses. Absolutely nothing turned up after a massive manhunt. Shot with his own gun?
  8. 69 pts at half time. But at least we scored 47 and shot some 3 pointers
  9. the last thing Aaron brooks needed was more freedom to shoot whatever shot he wants
  10. As a proud Cubs hater, this was quite satisfying.
  11. if you are the Chicago Cubs, you lose. It's what you do. # geico
  12. this is great. I hope this becomes even more of a blowout. I wanna see wrigley empty in the 7th inning
  13. Bryant has had the best swings off syndergaard all night, which to me is surprising - he's got a longer swing and is a guy I wouldn't think would catch up to upper 90s heat. At least not compared to Schwarber and rizzo. Pretty quick hook for Noah
  14. big stones to throw a 3-2 change there
  15. would be nice to keep grinding away and get arrieta PC near 50 - no easy outs
  16. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 18, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) Apu approves! This is awesome
  17. Cubs sitting dead red. Syndegaard is gonna have to throw those off speed pitches for strikes. Bringing the heat, but that's a relatively straight fastball
  18. gigantic win for the mets. couldnt afford to face arrieta in game 2 with the prospect of going to wrigley down 0-2. Now lots of pressure on arrieta. Cubs can't afford to go down 0-2 with hammel and Hendricks on the horizon against de grom That said I think the Cubs probably still win this thing
  19. he's out, but that's as close as you can get
  20. not sure I get pulling Harvey. schwarber ran into one. Nothing more to it than that
