In general, I try to stay pretty level headed on this board, but I Gotta get this off my chest..... . If you root for the sox and also like to watch the Cubs, that's cool. Certainly not gonna criticize anyone for that. I get that they are exciting and good and are a Chicago team. I have tons of friends and in-laws that are Cubs fans, and plenty who root for both. Not everyone gets caught up in the Cubs vs sox stuff, and I get that. However, for a select segment of sox fans, rooting against the Cubs is part of being a sox fan. Growing up in the SW burbs, I fall into this category. And I'll be goddamned if I'm gonna catch flack for hating on the Cubs. Do the Cubs have great young talent and a super bright future with a great front office? Of course they do. But why do I have to all of a sudden change my feelings for that team based on their success? Rooting against them is part of my identity as a sports fan, just as they have fans who will root against the sox for their lifetime. If you wanna hate on me and b**** at me for that, I guess that's your right. You can think it's childish, but it's my opinion (and part of my sports ethos) that rivalries in sports are a great thing. And I would never expect a Michigan man to root for the Buckeyes, an Midshipman to root for the Cadets, etc. Cubs vs sox may not be as big of a rivalry as those others, but if you don't think the rivalry exists, you clearly didn't grow up in the same neighborhoods as I did. And when it comes to me hating on the Cubs, I'm gonna keep watching and hoping they lose every single goddamn day. I am getting sick and tired of people (and not just on this board) trying to tell me who I can and can't root for and why.

Cubs run differential is now +23. Respectable, but tied for 12th in the mlb, and not consistent with a team that is 15 games over .500

Tom gorzelanny? Wow the Tigers pen is awful.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) Wow, that pitch wasn't close to being a strike That 2-1 swing from flowers proves he has absolutely no clue
-
QUOTE (reiks12 @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) probably. this is still one of the most dominant pitching performances by a staff ive seen. The answer is actually no http://www.baseball-almanac.com/recbooks/rb_strike2.shtml

has a team ever whiffed 21 times in a 9 inning game?

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Aug 16, 2015 -> 03:16 PM) My thoughts exactly. Lol puts things in perspective. Though I thought nobody under 25 watched baseball anymore ?

buddy bell was on white sox weekly with Rongey and it pretty much sounds as though the organization has all but given up on him. Next thing bell said they may try to just completely tear his swing down and start all over, essentially a Hail Mary

would be really nice to get 2 runs here so we can somewhat confidently hand it to the pen
-
was really hoping sale would pull a Stroup there

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 10:00 PM) Vandy football for you! Haha, oh god. It's back to business as usual going 2-10 since we lost the ultimate sleaze Franklin to PSU Bball team has a shot to make some noise though. Should be in the tourney this year

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 09:54 PM) All I have to look forward to is a Bears season that is shaping up to be 3-13. Just f***ing shoot me. And a hockey team whose star is facing rape charges. And a basketball team who has almost 0 shot to compete with the cavs and fired an elite coach. God it's depressing At least golf should be good tomorrow I supoose

lol there are so many players on this roster that don't belong on a big league roster. Bonifacio, beckham, Sanchez, saladino, probably flowers, probably Thompson. Laroche and Ramirez have a track record but certainly don't belonig in the everyday lineup. Speaks loads about our utter lack of depth in the org

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 09:25 PM) I can't see how he is brought back next year. Something's going to have to happen. Been disappointed our fan base hasn't let him hear it more than they have

btw when did it become taboo to be a Cubs hater? I've been a proud Cubs hater as long as I can remember and all of a sudden I can't hate on them because they have a good front office and a plan that has come together without fault (save Baez and Almora). Too much cub-hater hate on this board recently

i have a pretty good source saying price really likes the Cubs. He says there's almost no chance he goes to a market that isn't LA, NY or Chicago. Wants the spotlight in a big city

they have the 12 th best run differential in baseball. Have won an almost impossible 27 one run games this year. yes they have two really really good teams in their division, but there a way more bottom feeders They get to play in the NL. They are certainly good, and getting better, but I'm gonna hold off before I get too excited about them #dennisgreenvoice But yes, when they sign another ace and bullpen, and Their core gets more experienced they are going to be great

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) This weekend was the last 3 games I cared if the Sox won. Rest of the year, especially playoffs, will be hoping anyone but the Cubs win the WS. Blue jays might be unstoppable

that's an awful call

3 more times on base with a SB for Alvarez.
