Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
daa84 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
the best recent FA comp for eaton is jason heyward who was worth 184 mil in the free agent market. Likely Eaton isnt quite worth that much, but the reality is that he is an extremely valuable trade asset signed at an incredibly cheap price for many years to come. If they are bundling he and Quintana, they better be getting an even better package than what they got for Sale (ie it must include turner) -
another interesting angle is to ask who you preferred out of the following: Moncada, Benintendi, Swanson or Bregman. Bregman and Swanson were said to be off limits.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go

the other thing to consider is how insanely low our payroll is going to be in a year -
Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
daa84 replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
jeff passan from yahoo on with waddle and silvy said the sox are getting offers about 95% of what they got for sale. some teams preferred Quintana. Sign me up for that. The key to all this is to sell high on these guys, and now feels like the peak value for Jose. Same with eaton. -
so theo openly admits that the cubs tanked for a couple years during the parade. "Let's be honest, for a while there we forgot the 'not' in 'try not to suck,'" Epstein said. Below is the same MLB rule for which Pete Rose was banned. So when do we revoke the 2016 world series, or at least have an asterisk by it MAJOR LEAGUE RULES Rule 21 MISCONDUCT (a) MISCONDUCT IN PLAYING BASEBALL. Any player or person connected with a club who shall promise or agree to lose, or to attempt to lose, or to fail to give his best efforts towards the winning of any baseball game with which he is or may be in any way concerned; or who shall intentionally fail to give his best efforts towards the winning of any such baseball game, or who shall solicit or attempt to induce any player or person connected with a club to lose, or attempt to lose, or to fail to give his best efforts towards the winning of any baseball game with which such other player or person is or may be in any way connected; or who, being solicited by any person, shall fail to inform his Major League President and the Commissioner.

well gentlemen, the only thing I can say is this feels a bit like being at a funeral for an old long suffering family member. It's sad, and you wish it didn't happen ever, or like this, but you knew it would happen at some point. That said, if you grew up in Bridgeport or Beverly or Palos or flossmor, you know what it's like to be a sox fan. It's an identity, a way of life. You aren't taking any solace in seeing your friends from the other side of town happy about this. It pisses you off. But in the end, we won first. 2005 happened before 2016. And part of my identity as a sox fan is strengthened, just like a family is strengthened with the loss of a loved one. I live 350+ miles away from the south side now and I hardly know any Cubs fans anymore. But this s*** goes back along time. And I'll say it now just like I always have. f*** the Cubs. Best team in baseball or not. I'm a sox fan. Alway will be.

that was good

joc pederson might have a longer swing than joe borchard.

id go in high and tight to rizzo. And hard. Don't care if it hits him in the face, you can't let a guy dive out over the plate like that with his entire back shoulder over the plate

this is why that montero slam was so big. Game 1 was must win for the Cubs. Woulda been really nice to be 2-0 going back to Chavez ravine

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 16, 2016 -> 07:53 PM) Hendricks making awful pitches and not getting hurt Yeah that was actually a really good pitch to hit to Gonzalez with two strikes
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 10:29 PM) 0-2, throw it out of the zone! Blanton is awful Wonder if the guy on third influenced it. Either way, Montero saw the exact same pitch the pitch before

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 15, 2016 -> 10:22 PM) Should never, ever intentionally walk Heyward Couldn't believe that

worst part about it is that now the Cubs rotation is set again

Can't be marching out your 3rd and 4th best relievers to face the heart of the Cubs order just because they pitch from the same side.

QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Oct 11, 2016 -> 10:58 PM) That was my biggest concern with the Giants in this series - lack of a shutdown reliever. Bochy didn't help matters that inning though and Crawford not turning double play may be the difference in the game. Have to execute in the playoffs, there is very little margin for error. Thought Crawford coulda made the play on Bryant's single too. And he gave them a run earlier in the game on the Baez error
-
metrics say he's good, but Brandon crawford has not had a good series defensively

inexcusably bad managing by Bochy
-
two managers trying to be too much a part of the game
-
big time mismanagement by Bochy

delete this post, move it to the filibuster, suspend me or do what you want. I want to extend a giant f*** you to anyone who thinks their social agenda is bigger than standing during the anthem on 9/11. Specifically calling out the following pieces of s***: Arian foster, Jelani Jenkins, Kenny Stills, and Michael Thomas. Will never, ever root for you or the Dolphins organization in my life

sounds like must have dislocated the knee with the accompanying tearing of the acl and collateral(s). I'm sure they were worried he had injury to the popliteal artery, which is what prompted the ambulance and visit to the trauma center. Hopefully for him he didn't injure the tib nerve. Though those are usually high impact injuries, not "non-contact" so who knows.
