  1. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 02:21 PM) There will probably be a handful of teams that will love to get their hands on a guy like Saladino come July. yeah saladino for sure has a role as a super utility guy on a contending team, especially with the defense he can provide. Too bad hes already 27 and we likely wont be able to get a ton for him
  2. would like to see Anderson use this year to really work on his discipline. no reason to swing at a 1-0 slider off the plate
  3. tigers hitters really leaning out over the plate...been a trend in mlb lately (so many cubs players do it) which I suspect has to do with players tryign to generate better launch angles, especially with mlb (erroneously IMO) essentially getting rid of brush backs
  4. boy verlander looks good
  5. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) Did castellanos just do a sammy sosa? yep.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 4, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) With Rodon hurt, nothing else really matters besides Q's value and Anderson's growth I think the same can be said for Abreu, Frazier and Robertson's value to a lesser extent... its funny I look around on opening day literally rooting for contending teams to have bullpen meltdowns in hopes they will make a run for Robertson or jones
  7. really good AB by jones....not a terrible pitch. jones went and got it
  8. mahtook gets hit on a ball that was a strike

i don't think anyone is catching the padres. That team is the hottest of garbage
  10. the bottom 4 in the lineup is probably the worst in the majors oh my goodness nevermind. I just looked at the padres lineup.
  11. theyre in last

May is a bad offensive baseball player. Hopefully he adds some value defensively. Speaks volumes to how bad the system is/was that he is going to be playing. Maybe the idea really is to lose as much as possible this year
  13. Burdi is interesting in that not only is his minor league sample size small, but his college sample size was also really tiny. His 3 years in college he had 10, 29, and 30 innings pitched total. Add in last years 38 total innings and that's only a total 107 innings of numbers to analyze since 2014. The stuff is obviously there, and the peripherals suggest as such, but you gotta remember that even if you take all his numbers on a whole going back to freshman year of college, its still a really small sample size, let alone single outings Its something I have to remind myself, as at times I look at his 3.30 ERA his senior year in college, and 3.32 in the minors and wonder why those ERAs aren't better with the insane K rates and relatively low hit rates. But I try to remind myself that its really still a tiny sample size prone to variation
  14. certainly a polarizing figure, but I absolutely love hawk. I understand the argument for people who don't like him. For me, I'm 32 and have never had another white sox voice. I certainly love the statistical analysis in modern day baseball, but one of the truly unique aspects of baseball, in my opinion, is the old school romanticism of the game. I love the emotion, I love the absurd folklore and tall tales of Steve Dalkowski throwing near 110, I love calling out umpires, i love the homerism, and I love that he loves the white sox. Its such a breath of fresh of air from so many other bland announcers. Yes his stories about people like Yaz may drive you nuts, but it also lets you see a personal side of the game and you end up learning little nuggets of the games past you never would have been able to appreciate otherwise. It will be a sad day for me when he finally drops the mic
  15. I think the most impressive thing about beer is his 84:35 BB:K ratio so far in the NCAA....throw in an additional 19 HBPs. Then also keep in mind he enrolled a season early
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 06:03 PM) Collins looks really good so far. Moncada got rung up on a bad pitch i really hope he can stick at catcher. at least for a handful of years
  17. when do people realistically hope to see Giolito, Fulmer and Lopez back in the bigs? it sounds like all will start in AAA....when is the ideal time for these guys to start to continue working in the big leagues, assuming things go reasonably well in AAA? I guess another way to ask the question is in August of this year, how many of those guys will be on the big league roster? same thing can be asked for Moncada. Burdi I presume will be up at some point by the end of the year.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 05:07 PM) Anderson looks great so far yeah, especially with his improved defense he has a chance...obviously the on base skills are in need of work, but if he can hit enough to keep his obp in the .330 range he definitely adds going to add value
  19. final on Lopez: 1.1 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 0 K, 1 BB, 37 pitches, 22 for strikes
  20. i guess it could be worse. we could be losing 18-0 while getting perfect gamed .....like the twins are
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 04:31 PM) Chris Beck is awful yeah for sure. This big league team is going to be really ,really bad
  22. doesnt sound like lopez is faring much better
  23. oh my god this video feed..... literally every year this happens in the first few weeks with mlb.com
  24. yikes at least 4 balls crushed
