  1. on top of all of it -we have played essentially the easiest schedule possible. We will certainly be in the mix for the top pick next year...which is fine - we still need at least 1 more wave of prospects for this thing to work. Patience is the key here....realistically our best window is when Eloy, Moncada and robert are in their year 25-28 stretch - ie a few years away still
  2. The mlbfarm website is now a part of the mlb website and is tons better (imo) than the milb one https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/prospects/stats/affiliates
  3. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 08:23 PM) the Sale trade has me worried, but way too early on any of those 3 players to call it...don't need them this year anyway, we need them to be legit in 2 years. Wayyy too early to worry much. Maybe moncada isn’t a phenom like Harper and Bryant who were studs at 22, but there’s a lot there to suggest he’s gonna be a really really good player at 25
  4. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 08:20 PM) Come on Yoan. Just awful. He has some cutler-esque body language when things go wrong
  5. cant see how Kopech isn’t on this team by June.
  6. watched singer last night. Agree with what others said. Ceiling is probably not super high - plus command, nice movement on the 2 seamer, good breaking ball. Both pitches near major league ready. He’ll be a fast riser but not sure he will ever be a top end starter.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 04:30 PM) I was blown away by how good he looked in the spring. hes got a little bit of that eric brynes paradoxical awkward athleticism to him. still not convinced hes gonna be a replacement level player though
  8. yeah im not buying the Engel optimism. Love the guys defense obviously, but the board is putting way too much stock in his 47 spring training ABs. Did we forget how awful he was last year in 301 ABs? .166/.235/.282. Also .229/.306/.417 in his AAA career. I'll actually list engel as my disappointment Surprise i'll say Joakim Soria with a bounce back year Darkhorse - I'll also go with Fulmer based on nothing but my appreciation of his collegiate triumphs
  9. this has to be the nail in the coffin for fox. There will be coaches interested in mentoring Trubisky and it is going to be an incredibly important hire for the direction of the organization.
  10. quite simply one of the luckiest games I’ve ever seen a team win. Turner making a bad out at home in the first. Wieters doesn’t block a ball in the dirt that leads to a run. 0 hard hit balls in the inning off of scherzer. A failed/incorrect drop third strike call. A catchers interference. Another wild pitch letting in a run. Werth flat missing a fly ball. Multiple should have been passed balls that were lucky enough to hit the ump and stay nearby. An iffy pickoff replay on a call that is driving many baseball fans bonkers
  11. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 11:41 PM) The league should investigate the Tigers for intentionally losing/tanking . If found to be guilty of that the penalty should be a loss of their first round pick. The cubs admittted to tanking and the league did nothing
  12. sox really messed this up. There's a big difference between picking 1 or 2 and picking 4
  13. looks like giolito really has taken a page right out of shields book - pitching off of his change up
  14. not looking good for #1. Would be nice to have 2 though
  15. watched one of giolitos AAA outings 2-3 weeks ago and he was getting guys out almost exclusively with offspeed stuff. Tonight using his fastball. If he can consistently throw strikes with his fastball like this, his curve and change are good enough for him to easily be a #3
  16. evan skoug showing why every team passed on him 6 times
  17. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 06:18 AM) Bear fans are not going accept Glennon sucking long. absolutely the worst case scenario for glennon. Guy already feeling the heat, comes out and throws pick 6 on opening series, and the young rookie tears it up. As bears fans we all have to hope Glennon does better. can never have too many QBs - might be able to deal him at seasons end, even if its for a 4th rounder The numbers weren't even the exciting part about trubisky last night. It was how he looked. He was accurate, had zip on the ball when he needed to, made a handful NFL type throws (anticipating the receiver out of the break between the safeties, laser to the sideline where only Thompson could grab it while on the run), was mobile both out of the pocket (which was expected) but also within the pocket (less expected). Yes its the second half of preseason game 1, but the guy looked the part
  18. Evan skoug has been awful lately
  19. what's crazy is that the power should only get better with age and as he advances to higher levels. During the cubs rebuild they were fortunate to hit on 2 studs in rizzo and Bryant. They've hit on other guys to a lesser extent like Baez and russel (and now contreras who might be entering the stud phase), but you really need a couple of guys in the middle of the order - and Jimenez, moncada and whomever we take in the first round (assuming we take an offensive player) I think have a shot at that. Hopefully the other guys like Robert Collins burger and Rutherford etc can then fill in the gaps around them
  20. Puckett was a 2nd rounder last year. Not a horrible return
  21. comparable to tilson probably (in quality of return, not player type) I'll take it - a guy who can at least play until the younger prospects are ready, and maybe he can become a .250/.320 18HR guy
  22. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 04:13 PM) Did Strop even come set on that last pitch? Doesn't have to with nobody on
  23. barksdale having a bad day calling balls and strikes
