Absolutely. This is the smart answer, and may be actually correct. Id stomach this much more if we just said “ we don’t think he’s that good.” The stupid answer is saying “well we tried really hard and I’m proud of us”

This is nothing but an absolute disaster. the fan base is irate right now. The rebuild has had more speed bumps than anticipated. This is not what people want to hear, but the best thing for this franchise is to tank another year. What’s the point in marching out the team we have currently + Joc Pederson and a SP and ending up with the 8th pick instead of the 2nd

Season starts this Friday night. I'm spoiled that my team is a perennial omaha contender, but it has honestly made college baseball so so so fun for me to follow. Its my number 3 sport behind MLB and NFL, having surpassed any basketball and hockey. Vandy opens in the newly created MLB4 tourney at Talking Stick park in AZ. Plenty of intrigue as we have recent Omaha history with all 3 teams - Virginia, CSFullterton and TCU. Would be nice to see Corbin get more of the commits to campus instead of the draft, but such is life at the top.

Beltin Bill Melton Done with Pre/Post game show
daa84 replied to whitesoxwinner's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He was awful. Desperately needed someone new -
so I know some of you guys have real sources, but I’m legit curious, do you think its bad info you got, good info that just hasn’t happened yet, good info that fell apart? Something else? Not trying to be antagonistic whatsoever, just more curious

Paniagua is an obvious answer. LaRoche too. I really hated Jake peavy. Can’t believe more people didn’t hate him. Viciedo is another good answer

i think he's actually a really, really talented football announcer. Really enjoy him during college games
-
I feel like I should know this, But I know it’s hawk day, but is it actually his last game?
-
so even when Covey was getting pounded last year there, i seem to recall some reports from the scouting community that really believed in him and bought into his stuff. Maybe they were right

Granted it’s only 1 game, but watched beer last night - did not look like an OFer

I realize that the shortcomings of Giolito and Fulmer and the injuries to Burdi (and to a lesser extent Hansen) have created more of a void in pitching than it appeared 6 months ago, but we still have a lot of RHP with Lopez, cease, dunning, stephens etc - also it’s so much easier to but 2-3 years of a quality arm on the market than it is a middle infielder. I think they have to go with Madrigal if he’s there - I think the bat plays. That said, I’m not as low on Singer as most and if Madrigal is gone I’d be ok with singer over any of the other position players in this draft - tho would still prolly prefer Bohm

5-13 GT - Sox @ Cubs - 1:20pm CST

When we got Giolito we were told he had a 70 grade fastball and touched high 90s nearing 100. Then we hear that his spin rate is awful. Then his velocity dips to low 90s at best. Now he can’t find the plate. Great -
sounds like a talar dome osteochondal lesion which became unstable - not good for Eaton.

no reason to rush people right now. let them develop.....the tankathon needs to continue at the big league level....just think - its possible that in little over 1 year - to add to our already ridiculous system - we will be adding another #4 overall pick (just for reference - we have only drafted in the top 5 once since 1990 - rodon) and likely will be adding another top 5 (possibly top 3, potentially evne number 1) pick .

its the cubs, then the cubs, then cubs, then probably the cubs for me. within the division KC is the only team to have recently won a WS, but they still feel like the least among the rivals. The sox and royals really havent both been good at the same time so i think that hurts the rivalry. I really hated the Pirhana twins teams - and same goes for the 06-08 tigers teams, god i can still remember craig monroe hitting every big home run against the sox. Cleveland in the 90s certainly was the big one - but since then it hasnt had the same feel as the other teams...after all that, i guess id say the twins
-
didnt somethign similar happen with the white sox ....i want to say it was a trade with teh blue jays (maybe david wells?) or the yankees ...they thought they were getting someone named J. Berry but they got J. Barry or something like that
-
This is what is mind boggling to me ....by the time he was Moncada's age he had already accumulated about 25 bWAR. I think theres an argument to be made for him in the HOF even if her never plays another game. You'd like to say he's like Ken Griffey Junior given their youth and position- but their numbers aren't even close - Trout's are clearly a notch or two better across the board. Its fairly comparable to Bonds' early peak - but Trout is doing it at a younger age. This also made me go back and look at how ridiculously good Mantle's early years were

werent there always rumors that teams would try to target non-steroid users who might "benefit" from being around the steroid users in their organizations? kinda reminds me of this a bit

Evan skoug looks like a wasted pick rather than a value 7th rounder (or whatever round he was)

MCclure establishing himself as a decent prospect. Zavala continue to mash

Sox at Oakland 2:35 CDT: Fulmer versus Triggs
daa84 replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
not saying he won’t ever be, but fulmer isn’t an mlb starter right now. No reason not to be patient - but theres a lot of guys who are going to be knocking on the door by next spring.
