  1. this is the best changeup strasburg has had in his 3 starts
  2. now this inning it seems the ump is expanding the outside corner...the first curve to rios and the first fastball to quentin were outside
  3. whats with the camera angle on balls in play? camera seems really far away from the field
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 12:55 AM) The SEC Tournament is played at Regions Park, which is where the Barons play for anybody who didn't know. You can stand outside for only a few minutes and start sweating profusely. It only gets worse in July and August, that's why there are no more 11AM games after June. yep, and the handful of beers we pounded beforehand didnt help either....then sitting in the scorching sun packed in with other hot bodies all around was just brutal..you pour sweat just existing...and thats an awful feeling
  5. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 18, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) according to fangraphs, kong is the second best fastball hitter in baseball hes always been able to rake the fastball...and IMO hes even lost some bat speed...I remember when we faced Zumaya for the first time, everyone was late and paulie consistently was out and around him.... Floyd batting against strasburg should be very entertaining.. The nationals bullpen has been surprisingly good, but i think the key to this game is goin to be to get the kids pitch count up early and hope Gavin can keep it close
  6. i criticized Viciedo harshly in the offseason and the first month this season...to his credit he has rebounded pretty strongly... I still think we are rushing the kid by calling him up, and his inability to draw a walk is worrisome...however I am hopeful he will continue to develop his power
  7. for the second night in a row steve stone is wrong about alvarez being drafted #2 behind Strasburg....Alvarez was drafted #2 behind Tim Beckham the year before Strasburg was drafted
  8. im backing JPN on this one...the absolute hottest I've ever been in my life was during the SEC tournament in birmingham....ive been in 100 degree heat a bunch of times in Dallas, and i promise the 94 or whatever it was in Bham that day felt like 115... and it wasn't even june yet
  9. i guess i should change my avatar...at least for this series
  10. god what a beautiful ballpark.... i've been to fenway, comerica, yankee (old), great american, miller, progressive, the new Busch, PNC and the Cell....and the difference between the worst of them and #2 is about the same as the difference between PNC and #2
  11. the home plate umpire has been horrendously inconsistent today.....hes expanded his zone at times, and other times hasnt
  12. its gotta be the NCAA bball championship....you have to win 6 games in a row without losing....1 loss and you are done...0 room for error ...and its always neutral court in the NBA, MLB, NHL 7 game series the team that deserves to win will win more often than not....while this makes it easier for an upset to occur in the college bball tourney, its still unbelievably difficult to win 6 in a row without losing.....in addition, for a handful of the games you have 1 day to prepare for the next opponent you will play.... Stanley cup is ridiculously hard too because of the grind that 100+ games of hockey must take on the body MLB is very hard to make the playoffs, but as others said, once you get there its a crap shoot and mediocre pitchers can get hot and win it all (ie 06 cards and Weaver/suppan) NFL is difficult too, but teams that earn a buy only have to win 3 games (1 or 2 usually at home)
  13. I dont really care if he was drinking or not, but it does reflect upon Kane when hes acting like that. Maybe he doesn't care, which is perfectly fine, he wasn't doing anything illegal, but I just hope he knows that there are people who will judge him because of it. Now I did see Toews shotgun a beer as well, but most the guys weren't nearly as sloshed as Kane. If anything I have gained just a ton of respect for everything Toews is and does, and how he goes about his business and carries himself. IMO its been a while since I've seen an athlete so young that just gets it like Toews does.
  14. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 12:27 AM) I really am getting sick of the f***ing Guillens and their self entitlement. I would rather have Hahn as the long term GM. But having Guillen with more power than KW is like having a crack addict in charge of the collection plate. yeah IMO this year especially is on Ozzie. I mean maybe KW is to blame for actually listening to ozzie and giving him the team he wanted, but it seems like this was ozzies team from the get go. Ozzie and Hahn IMO would be even worse than Ozzie and KW. Alot of what Ozney was critical about during spring training was all those stat nerds who "never played"...I'm fairly sure all the guillens have this antiquated vision of how a club should be run
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 08:34 AM) To me, Kane was the dead giveaway. He was so certain immediately that I knew it had to be a goal. That was the s***. yeah....sharpies reaction was immediate too...watching real time in a bar it was hard to see, i actually thoguht at first the hawks drew a penalty....from the angle NBC showed it real time it was impossible to see the puck get through Leighton to the net....It wasn't really til i saw Kane throw the gloves that I realized it was in
  16. id imagine nebraska will be the heavy favorite year in and year out in baseball in the big 10/11/12 (whatever it will be called)
  17. the roenick moment was cool, and would have been much cooler had he not admitted that he was rooting against the hawks in this series
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 09:08 AM) A steroid abuser, a guy who's arm went out, a HOFer, a near- HOFer, and Javy Vazquez. That doesn't sell me too hard on this kid. if you aren't sold on this kid, then there just isnt any young player you will ever be sold on
  19. wilson sounds alot like paiml
