oh and also....big props to CBS...seriously...they really could have just rammed horrendous attempts at tear jerky type Katrina stories down our throats all game, and could have given us millions of shots of Kim Kardashian, Kendra, Eli and Archie, and they actually kept it extremely bearable and limited

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 11:44 PM) I thought the one with LeBron and Dwight Howard that was the new take on the Jordan/Bird commercials was pretty awesome, especially with the cameo by Bird at the end. That and "keep your hands off my mama" i really liked the simpsons coke commercial.... the commercials in general have such hype to live up to that they generally try wayyyy too hard to be funny and it comes off brutal...

pretty textbook way on how to beat the zone cover 2 by the saints....pretty shocked the colts sat back and let brees find the soft spots in the zone...its the exact formula the colts used against the bears ....8-10 yard curls all day...colts D played againts the big play all game and brees was wise enough to give what the D took em

QUOTE (kev211 @ Feb 7, 2010 -> 04:00 AM) You guys are seriously going to get upset over Illinois fans rushing the court after a win over the 5th team in the nation? I don't care if the entire MSU starting lineup was out, its still a win over the 5th team in the nation, and they were still underdogs before the game. no not upset...i just think its funny that u of I students think this is some monumental upset....for me personally...i think of illinois as a program that every year should be in contention for the big 10 championship...therefore, every year they should at least be competetitive against MSU at home, and should reasonably win that game every 2 or 3 years... illinois is a boderline top 25 team right now IMO...if you are borderline top 25 team you don't rush the court unless you just beat a dominant college basketball team that is ranked #1...not a team that is ranked 5th, and likely to fall out of the top ten coming off an 18 point loss, and is also lacking their best player if you hand MSU their first loss, ok maybe....i just think it was weak last night -

rushing the court illinois?! wow...its a big win..but come on -
whats scary is that they could always put cuddyer back at 3rd and Kubel in RF with Thome DHing though cuddyer hasn't played 3rd since 05 so I doubt that happens...but offensively a lineup of Span, Hudson, Mauer, Morneau, Cuddyer, Kubel, Thome, Hardy, Young....goddamn

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) The approach that has been successful for years against the sox is to junkball our hitters and let them get themselves out. Fastball pitchers never had a chance. Thats why we would see our guys light up some stud pitcher who threw 100 and then get 1 hit the next night by some 7 ERA bum lofting cookies. Lets see if this years group does a better job at the handling the bat. With this crew they need to hit line drives and go gap to gap for the most part. We will see what happens. I just hope that our number 2 hitter gets to actually hit and not be a glorified bunter. couldn't agree more....and you know ozzies going to have that temptation with pierre on....I'll really be upset if thats the case with beckham batting 2. though i have to think that ozzie will bat vizquel #2 just about everytime he plays, and it will be bunt and run all day with pierre and vizquel...at least this year i have hope that the bunt will actually get placed down though...the only thing thats worse than an ill advised sac bunt, is an ill advised sac bunt that doesn't get down

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 12:45 AM) This has to be the most depressing thread ever. Besides the stupid Jayhawks, nobody's team seems to be doing well this season. the state of basketball in illinois is really bad right now....Illinois is decent but decent isn't good enough for that program, and the chicago schools are god awful. Depaul is pathetic and I even think UIC is dead last in the horizon with Loyola not far behind....then SIU, ISU and Bradley are all .500 or below within MVC play... Northwestern has had a good year for their program (especially without coble) but they probably still won't make their first tourney that said, like dasox said, I am pretty happy with how my commodores have played...i just haven't been posting here much because ive been so busy -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 5, 2010 -> 06:15 AM) AJ, Alexei, Gordo. i'd be interested to see how the break down was....I would have to imagine that AJ and Alexei saw tons of breaking balls. I know I certainly wouldn't throw a first pitch fastball to either of those guys

i know 0 about limo services except that windy city limo is a big White Sox sponsor and the owner always sits in the scout seats right behind the plate with the yellow M&Ms racing jacket on....so I'd start there

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) I guess you didn't watch the same show I did. They pretty much answered what the smoke was which is only one of the biggest mysteries of the show. The people at the temple are the Others that followed Jacob. The water is meant to heal but since Jacob is dead, I'm guessing it doesn't have the same healing powers. There are 16 hours of show left. Not everything will be answered in the season premiere. they answered that smoke monster is jacobs nemesis...but thats it..... why is the island underwater when they are flying over? why is desmond on that plane? why is hurley "lucky"? Where is Christian? Who exactly is the Chinese guy? Who is the flight attendant lady? Why was Charley supposed to die? Why are their names in the Ankh? Did the reset work or not? I guess I just had heard that this season premiere was supposed to answer alot of questions and that the timeline for this season is told as one continuous story. I guess I'm just confused by alot of it, when I thought things would be a bit more clear. I'm just not as captivated by all these convoluted story lines as I was in the first 2-3 seasons...that said its still must see TV and i can't wait for next week. Just thought things would be more clear this week and was a bit disappointed by it
-
why do i keep getting my hopes up that they will actually answer any f***ing question in this show.... im a bit frustrated right now...instead of explaning everything (or hell anything), they introduce new characters, new timelines, underwater islands, etc all in the final season and still don't explain anything....i hate how they advertise that "the time for questions is over"...yet all they do is keep bringing in new storylines without addressing any of the outstanding questions

the weird white dude with teh glasses at the temple i believe is kenny powers brother in eastbound and down haha

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 06:43 PM) Demarcus Cousins, Calipari and Kentucky are everything that is wrong with college basketball. im glad im not the only one who thinks so....hard for me to not be biased in this game but cousins is such a thug....this kentucky team is clearly the most talented team in the country tho IMO -
hawks have been awful this second period....
-
Brouwer has really stepped up this year....granted right now hes playing on the line with Toews and Kane setting him up, but nonetheless hes one reason for the improved team this year

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 10:57 PM) That place is fantastic as well. If you go to Cafe Biondi, get the stuffed shells, holy s***. heard it was good from my uncle as well...i will definitely try it ....zapatista is good mexican nearby on Wabash as well

theres a few locations i believe...but like 4 of the best 5 thai dishes i've ever eaten have come from Opart's on South state (right next to the aforementioned cafe biondi)

QUOTE (scenario @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) ^^^^ Thank you. It gags me how far Law has his nose buried up Mark Shapiro's a**. Law slobbers all over Carlos Santana of the Tribe, and basically discounts Tyler Flowers as a potential impact player. Flowers is only 3 months older than Santana... has major league offensive tools... was named top defensive catcher in the Southern League last year... AND had a better season while playing in a pitcher's ballpark in 2009. And the fact that Law had nothing good to say about the prospects we traded when we had them makes his comments about trading away all of our talent and depth disingenuous at best. Law thinks higher of Flowers than just about any other publication out there from what i've seen

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 12:50 PM) IIRC Mr. Blalock can hit a jack in a big spot at the Cell! and it was off of guy who was in the midst of saving 70 something in a row
-
Keith Law (who most people here hate) voted us as having the worst minor league system in the league....im very surprised he put the cubs at #7... We have an extraordinarily little amount of depth....especially in terms of arms...but i think hudson, flowers, danks and mitchell is a decent crop toward the top
-
last i checked its not illegal to have your shirt off or drink beer if you are of age,......this is a non-issue.....really the orton pictures never really hurt the guy or the team...it just made him more of an internet legend than anything...this is no different i was wondering why the chicks weren't a little better looking....then i realized they were in canada

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) THis is kinda interesting... From Merkins tweets... Could we be sneaking DYe in the backdoor under the cover of Thome? isn't thome talking about himself? Merkin posted 3 tweets that all seem to go together...i think he's just saying that the sox were worried about getting him enough AB..... Thome: "I spent four years here in Chicago, and I think from the White Sox end that was a pretty tough decision for them." More Thome: "They had a guy they were thinking about bring back and worried about the number of at-bats." Thome on Chicago: "I love the city of Chicago, and I had a ton of great memories and will always cherish the memories there." im am still a bit frightened by the fact that our manager can't find enough ABs for Thome, because jones kotsay and vizquel are on the team....yuck

ah yeah vito and nick's is awesome...thats my favorite of the "very thin" variety...Palermo's is thicker...in the mold of giordano's thin crust (which is also very good might i add) and i think its the best pizza ive ever had....with Malnati's a close second
