QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) pretty fun read http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/baseball...k2k10youheardme He says hes high on the white sox this year as am i, i see a lot of gloom around here about our offense but i think we'll do just fine.....as long as mark kotsay isnt out 3 hole hitter. espn had another article with "players I love" by some guy named Jason Grey....he picked beckham #2 http://insider.espn.go.com/fantasy/basebal...10grey10players the list went as follows.....Upton Brothers, Beckham, Billy Butler, Howie Kendrick, Chris Davis, Steven Drew, Brett Anderson, Andrew McCutcheon, Mat Latos, WAde Davis and Brian Matusz he also had a link to a blog he wrote about a month ago saying beckham was the next big thing in fantasy....i somehow missed the article, but i'm sure it was posted or linked on here when it came out....here a few highlights http://insider.espn.go.com/fantasy/basebal...lbdk2k10beckham

you can't remember because as time goes on it distorts our memories of the past....some of those guys aren't going to pan out ....some will excel....some will become solid major league pitchers....my best guess is that 2-3 maybe 4 of those guys go on to become HOFers... i mean if you look back at the early part of this decade you had .....oswalt, peavy, sabathia, santana, buehrle, zambrano, prior, beckett, burnett, zito, mulder, webb yes the young pitching is impressive...but in 5-10 years we will think differently about alot of those names than we do now
-
if he can truly go and get it like they say he can, then IMO Danks is a much better prospect than most people realize..... in fact I would say a fair major league comparison could be a young Mark Kotsay...who was a significantly better player than most people realize

QUOTE (Real @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) The hawks are one of the worst defensive teams I've seen in a while. Huet blows, but they're absolute trash defensively. Kane is probably the worst, but he'll get a pass of course by no means is kane going to win a selke, but the bolded statements above are just ridiculous....yes the D has struggled lately especially after injuries, but the hawks have had a top 2 or 3 defensive unit all year, if not the best...Keith has a legit chance to win the Norris, and he and Seabrook are probably the top pairing in the league yes they had an awful awulf game tonight...but your statements are just wrong

wow that was just a horrendously soft goal given up by Huet.....he looks beyond awful pretty clearly this will be Niemi's ship from here on out

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 12:50 PM) Why is Tim Tebow considered a running QB? Because he ran a lot in college? It's honestly just something I've been wondering about. He isn't like a freak athletically in regards to his pure speed, and, though he's big, he doesn't really do anything to make defenders miss. There's an article on Deadspin that talks about how Belichick would covet him because of all that he could do with him. Sure, he can move around and would be able to avoid most rushes, but it's not like they're putting Ronnie Brown or even Michael Vick in the wildcat, they're putting a guy who pans out as pretty much a tight end who can throw. I could see it being sneaky from the vantage point of him running the same offense he did in college (not meaning the spread, but rather looking for one route, and if it doesn't open, run), but NFL defenses are exponentially faster and bigger than college defenses, and I think it's entirely possible he could get stuffed rather easily in a situation like that. I'm actually a guy that really likes Tebow and I think he can be an average NFL QB who the HEART OF A CHAMPION, but to consider him as a true wild cat QB? I dunno about that, I think the Patriots would be better off using Edelman as a wildcat option. I absolutely hate Tebow...can't stand the guy, but he is a very good athlete.....At the combine his 3 cone drill and 60 yard shuttle was better than any RB who performed, and his verticle jump and 20 yd shuttle would put him in top 5 of RBs.....the one that matters most (40 yd dash) he can't keep up with the RBs, but a 4.72 isn't all that much slower than RBs who will get drafted.... then you start to combine all of that with his ability to throw the ball and you have a guy who can be used in alot of different ways. I personally don't think he can be strictly a QB, or strictly a RB (probably a FB or TE assuming he can catch).....but if you have a team who uses those wrinkles in their offense and likes that kind of stuff I can see where he would be attractive....that role is still probably not worthy of higher than 3rd round pick, but maybe teams believe he can play every down at 1 position.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) Sheldon is my favorite character on any sitcom right now. I've never seen whatever show Sheldon is in, but Phil Dunphy is quickly approaching Andy Bernard for me

it will be very interesting to see what happens if a team already gave up the 3 points in OT, and are on their own 3 yard line with a 4th and goal do they go for it to try to score to win it or kick the FG? i'd imagine if they are on the 3 theyd go for it...but what if they are on their own 25? certainly you will see some coaches making some interesting calls, at least until they kind of get a feel for how this should be played

seems like a huge % of their payroll to shell out to 1 guy...but they didnt have much of a choice....IMO this could really, really hamper them in 4 years...8 year deals IMO are just too long to pay a guy 23 mil per, especially when their payroll hasn't gone north of 70 mil until this year... they better hope they keep getting absurd contributions from their farm systems

ohio state went from having a very difficult route to having a pretty nicely paved road now....Gtown and Kansas both out

carlos making me wonder if our best solution isn't Jones in CF, Rios in RF and Quentin DH

my guess is its about recruiting...i would imagine its significantly easier to convince kids to go to a warm weather school than minnesota...though its not as big of a deal as in football or baseball

at this point id rather not make the playoffs and have the 1% chance that we got a top 3 pick than make the playoffs....if we make it we make it as an 8 and will get pummeled in 4 by the cavs and will end up with the bucks pick....if we miss the playoffs and end up with the 11th worst record at least theres that minor bit of hope that the NBA lottery is fixed and we end up with the #3 pick.....in which case I'd take Demarcus cousins, and go after lebron/wade/johnson
-
its a joke that it took a guy playing in his first game as a hawk stepping in with 42 seconds left after an empty netter to see some sort of retaliation on wiz....what a frustrating loss....blown calls, terrible mistake misplaying the puck by crawford...watching the opposition make a run at one of your best defensemen and your team doing little about it

something i think is important from last nights episode...... Sawyer just assumes that Widmore and Flocke are looking to fight each other. When he meets with both of them, he is the one who comes up with the idea that one can fight the other. Neither one really asked sawyer to manipulate the other. Also I think this is important because 1.) Jacob is clearly enemies with Flocke and 2.) Linus (working for Jacob) was enemies with Widmore....so isn't the underlying assumption that Flocke and Widmore are "on the same team?"

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) Tonight's ending was weak. "We're taking the sub... LOST." Are you kidding me? That wasn't dramatic at all. They usually at least have really good endings making me excited for the next week, but this week's episode didn't do that at all. I did like Sawyer as a badass cop, though. agreed 100%....Lost has just had horrible endings all season IMO. The one where the Asian guy says "it happened to your sister"....well no s*** claire is "infected"...we all knew that The show got too ridiculous that it lost the element of surprise....they keep throwing curve balls at you and now its no longer a shock...we expect something really weird and unbelievable to happen, and when something surprising does happen (like Sawyer being a Cop) we tend to just shrug our shoulders and say "meh." Lost cried wolf one too many times for me to have the "OMG" response anymore . QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 09:47 PM) Red heads are sexy. just sayin. Definitely looked like Charlotte 1.) lost weight and 2.) had some major surgery done

Tons of people are picking against my commodores...I'm fine with that.....2 years ago when we were a 4 seed everyone picked us to advance and we got it handed to us by sienna....i think its funny how everyone says murray state will win because they have 5 guys who average 10 points...wonderful, we have 4 guys that average 11 and outside of UK had the best depth of any team in the SEC.... I think by default people always try to pick one 13 over 4 and (at least)one 12 over 5 upset, and I guess all the experts were really impressed with the way Murray State handled EIU, Austin Peay and Morehead state this year. I know We struggled down the end losing to South Carolina at home and Miss state in the SEC tourney semis, but we actually underdogs according to ESPNs forecaster... I dont know, maybe I'll end up with my foot in my mouth. I realize we are far from a perfect team, but I just think its a bit ridiculous that we are actually considered by some to be underdogs in this game.
