what a game.... i have to laugh at the redskins also
-
nice to see the ravens managed their timeouts well

Peterson and Harvin down with injuries for the Vikes....nice damnit as i'm typing that peterson comes back on the field..... as for best team in the NFL...nobody has mentioned the Colts yet, so I will. The saints have played the best and have looked the best...but do I believe they are actually the best team in the NFL? I don't. Also that is a COMPLETELY different team outdoors, but their offense is certainly legit, and their D has improved significantly over years past. Definitely still a very very good team, I'm not ready to say they are the best team in the league though, even though they have looked great

crazy bounce.....but seriously Huet??? christ he's been terrible.... two of the most horrendous goals i've seen in a while tonight
-
I thought DE was near the of the list of draft needs this year, and certainly next year....Ogunleye and Anderson in last year of contract and Alex Brown entering that age where DE's start to decline fast....in addition, Brown isn't nearly as much of a pass rushing DE anymore that is needed in the cover 2... I like it because its unlikely the bears would have been able to get a DE with Adams production in the second round, and certainly would not have been able to get one of Adams upside in the second round...basically if the worst Adams will be going forward is a 6 sack a year guy (his average the last two years) than its at least a break even move in my opinion...Adams also has a shot at being a 12 sack a year guy though
-
great hold in by Hjalmerson ....Toews with a point on the assist finally....getting to Bulin early
-
i'm going to pull a dennis green here ....i know it was preseason (but who treats the 3rd preseason game like its bulls***? bulls***!?!) but the bears handled the broncos on the road in the 3rd game, and destroyed the giants in the somewhat less important second game....i know preseason is preseason, but given the fact that those teams are a combined 10-0, and it was in the 2 most important preseason games, and that the 1st team crushed their first teams....i at least think its noteworthy
-
WOW should have been offensive pass interference on marshall and orton should have thrown an INT right there....big call for denver
-
well one thing i can say with confidence....denvers offense is much better suited for orton's strengths than ours is...and i also believe ours is better suited for cutlers strengths than theirs is ....kyle looks really good...lots of short, high percentage passes....not to mention good receivers and a great Oline helps
-
orton looks very good, but my lord he has all day back there

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) Baseball stadiums have been wacky with the dimensions from day one. Ebbets field 419-L, 450-C, 301-R (original), 348-L, 393-C, 297-R (final Baker Bowl ( Phillies ) Dimensions: 341-L, 408-C, 279-R (original and final) Polo Grounds Dimensions: 277-L, 455-C, 258-R (original), 279-L, 475-C, 257-R (final i understand, but i also imagine it was much harder in the 40s to hit a ball with the trajectory of teixeira's that far...take that however you want to ...just looking at the way the ball was hit... IMO that shouldn't be a HR
-
i understand differing dimensions and whatnot in stadiums...but im pretty sure when baseball was invented, hits like teixeira's weren't supposed to be HRs....seriously my high school field was bigger down the line than the new yankee stadium over the last few years ive come to tolerate the yankees and hate the red sox more...but this yankee team is VERY dislikable...i suppose because of all the $$$ spent on their key players...i thought at first i was rooting for them to beat the twins, but tonight angered me......go angels and every NL team

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) Haven't read through the whole thread yet, but doesn't "Winning the presidency in a state with historically huge racial tensions while being a member of the main minority" count as a step worth recognizing? That was my guess when I heard about that. No doubt about it counts for alot. I just think of Nobel Peace Prize should be awarded to those who have had significant impact. Rosa Parks made an impact. Jackie Robinson as well. I see what Obama did more as a symbol that the racial tensions in America (while still extant and real) have diminshed to a point where the entire nation should be proud. I see his election as more of a symbol of social change, rather than on that has brought about social change. His election is historical an undoubtedly significant, but I just am not certain it fulfills the qualifications of what I define as someone who would receive the prize

"Isn't that homer Simpson? Looks like Heaven is easier to get into than Arizona State!"
-
well that certainly didn't take long....hawks looked great for 30 minutes putting a ton of pressure on detroit, but couldn't score ...now a bad play by huet, a couple of penalties and its barely a game
-
oh god huet....that was brutal....then the hawks miss a WIDE open net just after..and now another penalty...ugh
-
wow....id take a bunch of guys listed behind him first...but i must say the movement on the fastball impressed me as well...i'm glad to see that nonetheless

imagine that...two hits that aren't hits in any stadium wins it for the twins -

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) If this game ended on a HBP it would be a travesty. Especially that little of a touch of the jersey. I agree with the ump, make a team actually win the game. yeah except for the fact that 1.) it wouldn't have ended the game, and 2.) those are the rules and they umpires don't have the discretion to enforce them at their own will -

i feel like these teams are super predictable...that said, what a game....you know the twins will find a way to win it in true twins fashion...IF hit pounded into the ground by gomez, bunt him over...little bloop somewhere ...game over -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 12:47 PM) ...and don't forget Larry telling the head of NBC to "f*** off". the best part about it...is that you don't hear it from Larry, who you would expect to hear it from, but the one who actually says it is Jerry, when he repeats "you told him to f*** off!"......just weird because I've been a seinfeld fan since his show started, and its basically the first time i've ever heard him drop the F bomb.....i'm pretty sure that was the effect they were going for as jerry has always been known for having a super clean mouth BTW I thought last week's office was subpar...I was really disappointed because the first two (especially the season premier) were very good...maybe i just need to watch it again

After the difficulty alot of type A guys had finding jobs last year, the market may actually be LOW on those types of guys...ie I can't think Type 1 guys like Scutaro, Freddy Sanchez, Tejada, and even an aging Polanco will have a high market this offseason because of the picks associated with signing one of those guys. And seeing as how we have a protected 1st rounder and an extra 3rd rounder for Morgado, if you can bring a Type A (not necessarily just those I mentioned above) for cheap (like the dodgers and angels did with Hudson and Abreu), I'd be all for it
