I hope Colson will be our McKenzie Gore. At some point, Gore was a can't-miss prospect. Then he went through a few years where he had trouble throwing in the strike zone. Even after his call-up, he was not exactly dominant. A bunch of publications soured on his likelihood of being a successful starter. However, he was given time to adjust and now is pitching like many thought he would at the beginning of his minor league career.
I know pitchers are different than position players. However, I think this is a good example of why rushing guys to the big leagues with a small amount of success is rarely a good thing. At some point, there is development that needs to happen, and better in the minor leagues than in the big leagues. I think this is what killed Andrew Vaughn. He had a small amount of minor-league success but the White Sox were such in a rush to get him here, he never truly developed.
