  1. If football players can come back in 2 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic precedure, why couldn't a baseball player be back in a month? Will he be DH-ing with Paulie moving to 3B?
  2. Shoney is a good #5. When you expect more of him, he falls apart. Just like Judy, who is nothing more than a glorified #4....but I digress.
  3. What you should really be worried about is Sox' inabiliy/unwillingness to hit a middle-away pitch to opposite field, especially off a tough RHP. Pavano embarassed them today. Pedro, Shilling, Vasquez, Brown will shut this team down cold if adjustments aren't made. And they haven't been made in years, so there is no reason to believe things are gonna change. Also worry about this team lacking a #1 starter. God are Sox gonna get embarassed this upcoming Subway Series or what! Prior, Zambrano, Wood, Clement, Maddux...Strike-outs and pop-ups to 1B-2B galore......Mercy! :puke
  4. Les Grobstein still says it's the worst Harry Carey impersonation he's ever seen. The humorless momo doesn't realize that it was SUPPOSED to be a caricature, not an impersonation. It worked. What an insecure retard.
  5. "As we move onto the top of the 9th, it's John Cusack and the Cubs - 1, and the Reds - nothing"
  6. Amen. Don't let sell-out loser-hacks like J-Hood and Mariotti shame you into thinking it's somehow not in Chicago spirit to wish 100-loss seasons on the Northsiders.
  7. There is also a tape on their site of a couple of dudes pumping an American full of lead in the parking lot. Not cool.
  8. I think it's hilarious that Jauggs (bless his pedantic soul) is now outraged by Magglio's supposed willingness to move on to bigger and better things than the (2nd rate, oft-unethical) White Sox......whereas in the years I've seen him post, he's been nothing if not a staunch free market pro-Greedist. Carry on
  9. I "love" the Sox, therefore I "hate" the Cubs. (Well not exactly - I also "hate" the Cubs because I really enjoy it, it's fun...but I digress.) YASNY talks about the proverbial tide turning....It won't happen if Cubs win the World Series this year (which they might just do) or if they turn into the Braves on NLC in the next decade. No matter what the Sox do. It's really quite simple: if you care about Sox' long-term future, you'd know that Cubs losing on consistent basis, year after year, is one of the KEY ingredients for true Soxess. A true, astute Sox fan also roots for whichever team happens to play the Cubs. It's not optional.
  10. Then she spent half the money on rejuvie and used the other half to invest in high-yield treasuries. Rinse and repeat. Bristol Uni don' raise no fool
  11. Seafood...... Agreed on mall brand of sushi.
  12. 1. Temporarily losing a pop up in the sun doesn't mean it's "impossible" to catch it. Especially when you have the shades on. It's more difficult, true, but there are tricks and angle changes that can help you "find" it again. These people are getting paid millions of dollars. So whateevr. 2. You have no proof that a fielder lost it in the sun/wind/lights/background . None, you aren't not in his head and have no basis for making that call. A hitter can just as easily claim he didn't see the ball because of reflected light in his eye-sight, etc.......It's irrelevant. He should get an error either way. And if he really DID fall victim of the elements, then TOUGH LUCK. A hitter can scold the ball at somebody, bad luck. A fielder can lose it in the lights or get a terrible bounce, bad luck. Why should the former suffer and latter - not? 3. Sun is just part of my point. The ball is catchable, catch it. If you can't, I don't give a s*** about excuses. A hitter is late to react by a 10th of a second, and instead of a HR, he pops it up. A fielder may break the wrong way and lazily stroll after the ball after it falls in in front of him, allowing the runner not only to reach base but to advance - and he's never given an error. Such bulls***. Fielding is by FAR the easiest part of the game, and the standard for it should be even HIGHER. - not the way it's now where if you don't touch it, you're not responsible and when you do touch it, often times you're still given benefit of the doubt by the scorer.
  13. Wow, sounds like you guys are Oh yeah.
  14. Did I give you permission to address me? Insert Mahler's Summer Variations on STFU in the vinyl-a-phone; close lid. Ahhh.....
  15. In some countries the legal limit is 14. In most others 15-16. Who is to say who's right and who isn't? I couldn't give a s*** about what legislature thinks quite frankly and nor did/do many of my friends. Just take the necessary precautions (it IS a big price to pay afterall, so check the state statutes, know the family, etc) and you'll be fine if you're 18-19 and she is not, unless we're talking about under 16 in which case proceed at your own risk. Luckily, don't have to worry about it now, though. YMMV
  16. I don't consider 16-17yo to be "children". They are anything BUT. 13-14yo? Different story altogether. :headshake
  17. Renteria is a HUGELY overrated player, offensively AND defensively. Anybody who will pay him or Cabrera more than 5-6 Mill per is a moron. 12 Mill? Should be fired on the spot.
  18. I know teams passed up on him, I was hoping Sox would see the light (read: Cotts blowing game after game) and bring him back. Idiots.
  19. Olivo is special. We don't know what his ceiling is. It makes no sense. Crede's potential is worth a hellalot more to the Sox than his current production is worth to KC. Why would they do Crede for Beltran straight-up? If I am Baird, I say: Olivo + Crede = Beltran Crede + Reed + Cotts = Beltran + prospect
  20. When Urbina was traded to the Marlins in the 2nd half of 2003, he was lights out. This year, outside of the Baltimore outing, he is still pretty damn tough. But playing on a 4th place team, I am sure he would be even better while playing for a contender. Of course, an ace starter is STILL BY FAR Sox' biggest need. Urbina would be a great addition to Marte, Wunsch and Shingo, and he is 3 times cheaper than Old Man Smoltz and 3 times as available....... 1. Glavine/Garcia 2. Finley 3. Urbina Then again, knowing the Sox, I am sure we'll settle for Tracksell and Cedeno.
  21. He doesn't want to see Adam Dunn type a player.....Yeah, having a 24yo (on pace to) hit 40+ HR with a 1000 OPS.....Oh no those horrible strike-outs, the humanity!
  22. f***. You. I will wish whatever I want on whomever I want. (Angels having the most injuries has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the fact that Cubs are a 100-win team this year if Prior, Wood, Sosa, Walker, Remlinger, Borowski were all healthy and from the start. It's called "having by far the most talent in the league". But whatever, I wouldn't expect a Sox fan to know anything about the Cubs. Stay biased for all I care. "Ramirez not being in the top 10 reason why Cubs are successful"? You're a moron. ) Let's all hope Cubs lose the next 10 games and have really bad luck the rest of the season and miss playoffs.
