  1. Again, I don't disagree. But getting them to listen is fighting a losing battle. We are just old and don't know what we are talking about.
  2. This is all true. However it obviously didn't matter to him as much if you believe the partying and going out stories about him. I'm not saying your ideas aren't true. I'm saying people that age just don't care as much about it as "it won't happen to them." At that age you're invincible. We know better when we get older with experience.
  3. Does a bye in the first round count? ?
  4. There biggest gatherings during the entire pandemic were younger people parties. They are invincible, in their minds.
  5. Teams do have those but again being invincible in your 20s, they don't listen. How many pro athletes wind up bankrupt? Baseball is different because of the guaranteed contracts so they get money and can't lose it from being cut. We has AIDs spreading when I was at that stage of my life. It scared the heck out of everyone but it really didn't change our behavior. We rationalized it. Not quote the same as COVID but it was out there in the social scene and in sports. Moncada was already rich. Nothing he did was going to change that. You have that motto now but I bet you didn't then.
  6. Even the Padres don't want to take a chance on Conforto
  7. What's the risk? Moncada had already signed a tens of millions guaranteed deal.
  8. I'm young and invincible. Wasn't that pretty much all of us in our 20s though? I know I did stuff then that fell into that category all the time. Us old people have the advantage of looking back and going "dumbshit."
  9. You don't have sell me on it. I've always said they have a really good lineup and they should have spent their resources on pitching.
  10. Do you really need a poll to know how this board will vote?
  11. Watch the way most pitchers are finishing now. They stand nearly straight up and dissipate the forces by spinning on their plant leg. This was mostly developed by Mike Marshall with some modifications. We used to teach bending forward and finishing with your head towards home plate so everything is going straight. There is more momentum when you spin so it increases velocity. However that sideways motion adds force on the shoulder in that lateral direction which is more on the lat than the previous motion.
  12. These new dumbass spinning follow through are shredding the latest tendons. Adds velocity but causes more issues.
  13. He probably still could pitch.
  14. I thought I saw a post where he is pitching today or tomorrow. I don't think anyone has ever ignored the Kopech injury issue but you keep on keepin on.
  15. You make it sound that the ability to step on your own dick is a bad thing. That's some pride right there. Yes, it's a joke.
  16. Wow. I didn't think anyone agreed with me.
  17. That's fine. I wouldn't be sold on Kopech in the MLB either. I think there are pros/cons either way. However, they have made it clear this is what they are going to do. So it needs to be in the plans. They definitely need to do a better job of making sure the top pitchers are ready at the end of the season and into the start of the post season.
  18. So if you take away his ability to do things that other QBs can't, he is just a normal QB? He considers that unsustainable. Is that his point?
  19. I'd agree, that's the goal. Let's hope they can keep him somewhat healthy so he can reach it.
  20. 1. Not going to happen as they aren't going to waste kopechs few innings in the minors 2. If kopech uses his limited innings in the minors, he won't be able to be called up as he will be done for the year. 3. They could trade for a SP but as you so often point out they don't have enough to trade for a quality pitcher. 4. True. If he does. Odds aren't good but possible See it's easy .
  21. While this is true, who replaces him in the rotation for the end of the season and the playoffs? The Sox would need to have 6 quality starting pitchers because Kopech and Rodon would need to have many days off between them. What pitcher would want to come to pitching when they know they will only pitch half a season because kopech and rodon would be the primary pitchers in the part time rotation?
  22. I voted C. They focused on pitching like they should have. However, I'm not sure they acquired the correct ones.
  23. Pitchers are starting off behind.
