Depends on if he was going to use it as a weapon.

NFL Thread 2019-2020
I don't ever recall anyone hitting someone in the head without a helmet with a weapon. In hockey there have been incidents of charges filed. If you think kicking someone in the thigh or crotch is the same as hitting someone in the head with a helmet, you are mistaken. This is why there are rules in football about hitting someone in the head but not about hitting someone in the thigh. It's just flat out dangerous. Even in bar fights the criminal intent of truly injuring someone is taken into account. Punching someone vs. hitting them with a bottle or chair results in drastically different punishments. Rudolph should be fined as well as the other players for what he did in the fight as it was a fight and outside the context of the game. However, absolutely nothing anyone can do should result in what Garrett did. Not to mention Garrett's history of fines and punishments in the context of game with late hits and personal fouls. He's going down the path of Vontez Burfect.

Anytime you use a weapon to try to injure someone outside the context of the game, legal action needs to be considered.

There should be a fine but you can't assume he was going to punch him in the head. He may have just been using it to pull him down or something.

He missed games earlier in the season with a concussion, I believe. They can always use that as a reason.

Makes absolutely no difference what Rudolph did. There is no excuse for hitting someone in the head with a helmet. If I were the steelers and Rudolph, I would bring the police in a charge him with assault. I've lost a great deal of respect for Akiem Hicks for his defense of Garrett.

Grandal - Early Off-Season Speculation
That's my dilemma. Not too impressed with this off season hitters and wondering if it would be better to get one next offseason.

Is next year a better year for the free agent pool?

Agreed. The production was far beyond normal series type shows.

They are playing a style of football on offense that other teams aren't used to, 330 lbs. offensive lineman and a big back to beat the snot out of the other teams. Everyone laughed at Gruden staing he couldn't win with 90's attitude football. He's not going to win the Superbowl but he's going to have a winning team.

The younger athletes have grown up with the "positivity" environment. Most do not handle negativity very well. Or should I say they, they handle positivity better.

Rangers might trade lefthanded hitter/outfielder
There is always the option of stop gap this year and get a good one next year. They don't have to build the entire team this year.

This doesn't mean they shouldn't tune it out. You can't focus on improving if you're are only worried about what everyone else is saying. The media has every right to say they suck, because they do. But in the locker room they should tune it out and only worry about getting better. It does absolutely no good to continually hear how bad Trubiskey is when there is no alternative.

Potential Deals with Boston
The length of the commitment is an issue. Will Castellanos be worth the deal he signs in 6 years while Martinez be be worth his in 3 as well as young outfielders may be ready by then.

Nice. The chicago area is good for this. A good number of the chargers.

I'm always on the side that the players should get most of the blame or praise but in this case, I agree. The team just never looks ready at the beginning of the game and always fall apart at the end.

JDM staying in Boston
I had good interactions with him back when we were both with the Marlins. Can't say I knew him well though and it was 25 years ago.

STAR WARS Everything
I disagree. I really liked it because it was a movie that relied on plot as opposed to the action movies that the other "new" Star wars movies have become. Maybe I over rate it because of that but I really liked it.

Not in injury and physiologic years. Tissues don't heal as well after a certain age, especially with previous injuries. Number of innings don't matter for that.

They lost because the coach doesn't know how to call plays in the red zone. The QB hit enough open receivers and got them inside the 5 4 times. The coach decided that it was more effective to call pass plays, inside screens and stretch run plays instead of running it straight ahead into the end zone. They were running the ball with great results all the way down the field then when they got near the end, Nagy wouldn't call it.

No, it's because he refused to run straight ahead for 3 straight posessions inside of the 5 yard line and ended up with 3 field goals. He finally ran Montgomery into the line on the 4th possesion inside the 5 and got a touchdown.

That's part of the reason Bill Parcell always said that you dont draft a QB high unless they started 4 years in school. They get the experience of doing this and you can evaluate their effectiveness at it.
