  1. I don't think it's a matter of the extra money. I think it's more how much they think he is worth. They probably have the money to sign Harper but wouldn't pay the same amount to Machado. They usually seem to follow the rule of paying what the feel a player is worth and not go over that. I don't know what their number is but I bet they have one. If the offer is similar between the two maybe those players on the roster sway him to sign with the Sox.
  2. Ive method a couple of times. He is a pretty good guy. He does like to talk.
  3. You are correct on both. Of course I'm a little biased but research in general shows this as well.
  4. I though Big Bob was a patsy for the others and we shouldn't believe what he says.
  5. His career hangs on whether or not the rebuild makes the team competitive for the division and playoffs in the next 2 years. Whichever shape it takes, not just on one free agent deal. This what we thought prior to the off season and it's where it still should be.
  6. This is the only reason he would sign anywhere.
  7. Yes. All tissues have the ability. It just depends on the size of the tear and the quality of the healing environment.
  8. I'm sure they did but the physical exam is more conclusive in UCL cases.
  9. Ligaments heal. They could tell by their exam if it had tightened up or not. This is no guarantee that he won't need it in the future but if it heals there is no reason for surgery
  10. They were going to try to let it heal and then see if the laxity decreased and he could throw without pain. I believe he did throw during the Arizona fall league time.
  11. You may want to check to see if anything else was slipped in there. ?
  12. IF the Sox get Machado it makes more sense for the team. Why spend more on the lesser player, by most opinions, when you can get the better player for less money. It could have gone that the Sox were serious about Harper early on but when the market for Machado turned out to be so low they decided to switch their focus to him.
  13. Drinking that much on a Sunday morning is not healthy.
  14. Because it's an excuse after the fact for signing with a team he stated earlier he didn't want to sign with.
  15. It could just be a a statement to justify why he is going to a team when it was reported earlier he didn't want to go there. It sounds better than "I went to a place I didn't like because they gave me a crapload of money."
  16. Depends on his mom. Righty is the dominant. If his mom is right handed the chances are the kid will be right handed. It's genetics not math unless you count the alleles in his genetic code.
  17. Me too. I've still got little scars on my left hand from those metal edged rulers which they used to whack my hand.
  18. Wow, he really short arms that motion.

Maybe gross numbers it did but it's down 2.3 billion from what they expected. https://www.recordonline.com/news/20190204/cuomo-federal-tax-cuts-are-creating-23b-state-budget-deficit https://www.investors.com/politics/editorials/cuomos-budget-rich-high-taxes/
  20. Rarely do these guys lie. It would hurt their reputation. However, their source could be using them to leak information to their advantage during negotiations.
  21. Its not a problem unless he is there every day.
  22. But it's a long shot, more likely Dec. 1 2021, according to the article. He blames advanced analytics that shows long term big money deals aren't worth it. Too many front offices are using purely numbers to determine contracts and they don't look at the intangibles of the players enough.
  23. That's why you need to watch some to get a feel for how he pitched.
