2025 Bold Predictions
Backs are messy. Too many moving parts. Fractures bones are mostly straight ward. Unless it's a comminuted fracture with many pieces they tend to heal well in the young athletic population unless there are co-morbidities like diabetes.

I would agree with all of this. Part of the complexity of back issues is that just because you have a discussion issue on imaging doesn't mean they are causing problems. They've done studies on disc imaging of people who have never had back issues and about 40% find disc's issues. As we age there is normal degeneration in the spine and related structures that cause no issues. While imaging is helpful, it should not be used without the physical exam and even then as you pointed out, the back is so complex it's really hard to evaluate and treat properly.

There is some truth to this.

If its always the one player, I would suspect it's more the player not listening or not being honest or accurate with the symptoms. This doesn't mean the player is faking or intentionally being dishonest. There are many factors that go into diagnosis, evaluation and treatment. It always starts with the patient subjective reports of incident and symptoms. That's what we have to base things on. Then we do our physical tests to determine what is going on from there. After that it's imaging to see if it conform what we found. If the patient isn't accurate it can lead away from the actual issue. There is referred pain where the reported pain has nothing to do with the actual issue. This can mislead the evaluation. A classic example is foot pain. Foot pain can be anything from structures in the foot to back issues and anything in between. The evaluation starts with the patient report. The example is always use is a golfer named Jose Maria Olazabal. He was having chronic foot pain and had two surgeries by world renowed physicians. He was going to retire due the pain and failed surgeries. He went to a physiotherapist recommended by a friend. They found a back issue, fixed him and he return to golf. He never, ever had back issues. How many people do you know who had back surgery and their issues went away. Happens a lot. Many times the back wasn't the issue and we can help them.

Predict the White Sox win total 2025
I'm going with 51. Pitching staff is ok and should improve. Hitting is hopeless until the prospects come up to take their limps bit gain experience for next year.

Rojas has fractured toe...
Correct. It's really semantics when it comes to treating it in any of these cases. It's supporting it and allowing time to heal and play as pain permits.

Sorry, didn't see the part at the end. I know about the situation. Had friends in the NBA at the time. What players and the general public don't understand is that you can follow all established protocols and CPRs and still be wrong on occasion. The protocols are based on the average likely outcomes and interventions. This is why you should always have second opinions. If he really had a case he would have sued. There are lawsuits in every league every year. Players don't get blackballed from leagues for medical lawsuits. Either way the point is no one is right all the time. If this is only significant one, they were doing well.

I'm not going down this discussion again but every player blames the medical staff for malpractice when things don't go right. Most often they are wrong. Not always but most of the time. They don't understand the process either. Again no medical professional is right all the time. This could have been one of the mistakes. If that is the only significant one, that's an impressive record.

It would be great if they were right all the time. Unfortunately, that just isn't medicine. There is a reason its called the practice of medicine. No one is right all the time. All physicians have had medical malpractice lawsuits.

No problem with questioning it. Should always get secind opinions. The issue is when they absolutely know that it was all mishandled and was wrong. If the statement was why didn't they find the hairline fracture, thats one thing. To demean them because they called it a sprain at first just shows they have no idea of the evaluation process and what goes into it.

Rojas has fractured toe...
I doubt it's an avulsion. An avulsion is when a piece of bone is pulled away from the rest of the bone. This is described as hacracked from what I've read, which is just a crack.

I know, the medical knowledge on this site is astounding. Most really should be working for the Mayo clinic.

Sox Spring Training notes
Maybe, but the organization will give him every shot to play at SS. Based on everything we read.

Sox Spring Training notes
No one is going to be shortstop for more than 4-6 weeks because Montgomery will be back by then.

Sean Burke Opening Day Starter
I'll be stunned if Perez, Davis or Smith spend any time in Charlotte.

Sox Spring Training notes
I see that it is in his great toe. Can be painful as you need to push off with that toe. However, i don't it keeps him out more than a week or 2.

3/17 - Giants @ Sox, 3:05 CDT - spring training
I know historically pitchers who rely on breaking pitched rather than velocity don't do as well in Arizona. Let's hope.

Sox Spring Training notes
Where is the fracture? How did it happen?
-
Sean Burke Opening Day Starter
No one doubted it in relief. Although before the UCL there was a decrease in velocity but xould have been the elbow issue. Everyone doubted the arm for starting. Everyonewas shocked when they made him a starter prior to opening day.
-
Sean Burke Opening Day Starter
Nor should you. I was referring to it as a breakout candidate not the actual performance. What he did borders on miraculous. Very innovative and ground breaking program.
-
Sean Burke Opening Day Starter
You don't have to, I don't think you do anyway. Not saying quite crochet level but as far as a breakout star pitcher.
