Same could be said for why make the trip for a 90 minute meeting. The Yankees needed to make the offer in person to attempt to get him at thier price. We'll see if it work.

Right, but I'm sure a general offer was floated out there just to see if he had any interest. They at least said "yeah we aren't going over X years or X amount." or that they were. I would always prefer a 90 minute over a 5 hour meeting, unless it came with free drinks.
