  1. I wonder how many women have the cajones to slap and throw racial slurs at NFL players? I can see why no charges were filed but You can't beat women. End of story.
  2. Harold Baines looks at you at scoffs.
  3. Yep. He ticked off the wrong person and they turned on him.
  4. This is the assumption by the FO. They have no way of knowing if an "improved" team but is still under .500 will stop the fans from turning on them. personally don't think the fans will return until they are competitive. This information sounds more like JR is starting to get impatient and is putting pressure on the FO.
  5. From the interview it sounds like he will be doing less managing and more coaching.
  6. That would work for the rebuilding part. I think to get the players and union to agree to a cap though, they would need to get the floor to make sure the owners aren't just pocketing the cap profits. This is a somewhat guarantee to put some of the money back into the team.
  7. For once, we agree. The Sox don't need someone for just next year.
  8. I think a floor would be important as well to 1. Keep teams from pocketing too much and 2. Keep the total rebuild excuse from making teams too awful.
  9. I think there is a legitimate concern here and the FO needs do to more than the normal due diligence for a record breaking deal. Is he the type of guy who will get the big pay day and coast for end of his career? He already admits he's not the Johnny hustle type of player at 26. What is he going to be like at 30 when everything now aches and is sore nearly everyday after June? I don't know the answers but it is a legitimate concern.
  10. What? Are you crazy,? Examine the facts before you make generalized assumptions on either side of the accusations? What fun would this board be if people on either side didn't fire off opinions with no investigations. You sir, are thinking far too clearly.

I thought it also had something to do with the environment such as the angle of the sun or the wind patterns, some lessons learned from Old Comiskey.

I realize that others will ask for the same. It's up to the politicians to turn it all to their advantage. It's not the company incentive that drive the people out, it's the rest of the economic environment. People will go where the the overall living situation is better this includes employment is better than the taxation. Wisconsin doesn't have people leaving the state in drove like Illinois. They may move around some due to a big company changing, but as long as the state has increasing number of jobs, people will stay. yes, it's a fine line between increasing the number of businesses and jobs with a better business climate and not taxing the life out of the people, but that is what the politicians are elected to do.

I understand that. I guess I need to make my point more clear. Competition is good among any groups, cities included, was the first point. The second point was in response to your last sentence about companies need to get over it.

Thats where Illinois is currently headed. JB, Madigan and the cronies have an uphill battle.

Competition shouldn't be illegal. Companies don't have to get over it, if it becomes to cumbersome they will just go leave the country where the rules and regulations are more favorable.

Probably in that case. However, would the state actually do that? I doubt it. Also, FoxConn were factory type, lower paying jobs. They would add the tax payers but Wisconsin isn't operating in the red like Illinois. The Amazon employment would have been much higher paying jobs. Even in Illinois with all of the corruption wouldn't have thousands of 100,000 dollar jobs available. These are two very different scenarios.
  17. Yes. He was rated as a decent catching prospect as I recall. However, they didn't want to wait for his bat and let his catching skills improve. So they moved hi. To the outfield.

There are no guarantees for the number of employees. However it's guaranteed to be more than zero which is what it will be without the incentives. The state needs tax payers. The taxes will need to keep growing if there is no one here to pay them. The only long term solution is to grow jobs. This would be be one of the best ways to facilitate it.
  19. no doubt. I bet with one of his houses as much as anyone, but find the original rant to put it in context. there were many ideas in that one.

It's the number of employees paying taxes that's important. Along with their purchasing in the communities. That outweighs the tax breaks given to the company. These weren't low level, minimum wage jobs. Illinois needs to grow business and That is the price you pay to get upper level paying jobs.

Having 50,000 tax payers with an average salary of 100,000 was a big incentive for Illinois whose tax payers have been leaving at a significant rate. This is different from the sport franchises where the people don't directly benefit from it.
