  1. Why limit your best pitchers and allow the opposition to face your inferior pitchers more often.
  2. Because it worked so well when the cubs tried it in the early 70's.
  3. Just like Kopech if he is pitching well next year he will need September in the MLB to increase his innings load.
  4. I think they will follow the Kopech route and it will be the end of 2019. Kopech's innings last year was 134, i believe. So to go from 125 to 170 or so he will need to pitch in the MLB in September.
  5. Not surprised considering his previous high was 93.
  6. I think so. It allows a player to stay with a team longer as opposed to some other leagues where the players change so often that it's hard to follow. I also don't think Eloy did this. I think it was all union just using his quotes.
  7. It goes beyond the White Sox fan, Hahn and Jimenez. It's similar to the Smith holdout with the Bears. It's not really about the individuals, it's about trying to change things for future players.
  8. You can argue that Kopech needs to increase his innings load this year to be prepared for 200 innings next year. The minor league season ends too soon so he needed to come to the MLB at some point. This really doesn't apply to a hitter as much.
  9. I know what he brings but most of the "advanced stats" today show those skills as irrelevant. Low batting average and high strikeouts are acceptable now. He does have relative zero power compared to the players who swing for the fences on every pitch and strike out 150 times per year.
  10. I don't think most people understand growing up in a small town/rural area. You don't get to see let alone meet or interact with minorities of any kind. It's totally based on ignorance. You say these things and you have no frame of reference what they really mean or how it can really demean or hurt people. Hopefully, when you leave at least for awhile, you mature and understand what these things mean and it really is wrong. Of course not everyone realizes this because there is obviously still true racism rampant. However, the good people where is was based on ignorance learn and become better people for it.
  11. Good mature ownership and response. Hopefully, the truth.
  12. They are going to want to spend at least 1/2 season at AAA. He will probably follow the path of Kopech but maybe come up a little earlier. He won't have more than 150 innings this year which a big jump from his previous high of 93.
  13. I don't think you're are right here. As I said when he was drafted, people who focus on power, launch angle, exit velocity and such are not going to like him. People who look more at contact rate, K/AB, OBP are going to like him. I am really interested to see the opinions of him and his development. Personally, I love his game and think he will be a major contributer.
  14. Sorry if the sarcasm didn't come through. In no way do I think Schwarber is a better outfielder than Trout.
  15. One poster informed me that Schwarber had a higher defensive fWAR than Trout (I'm not sure if that's still true). So stating the fact that Schwarber is a butcher must be inaccurate.
  16. Since it's in the players tribune, I guessing it's more the union. Especially, in light of the Bryant grievance loss.
  17. If you always swing hard and don't care about contact, which is what he was doing earlier in the year, you should hit more HRs.
  18. The network job doesn't appear to have changed Gruden, even though it appeared so while in the booth. So the network Girardi should be considered but the interviewshould carry much more weight.
  19. I think this is a symptom of him becoming too passive. Taking too many pitches and hesitant on the swing.
  20. It's not against the law but it is a greater risk.
  21. The year after any shoulder surgery is a crapshoot. He is healthy but needs to learn to pitch with the "new" shoulder. Next year we'll know more. It may continue like this but odds are it will improve some.
  22. I've noticed in his last couple of starts that the first inning is like this but as the game goes on the average gets to 95. He may still have issues getting loose this close post-surgically.
  23. Kopech has an impressive, exciting start and the online Tribune sports articles include 3 articles on Daniel Murphy and 1 on Smith leaving Bears practice. I guess there are no opinions on if Kopech could be good.
