  1. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 25, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) Good thing is even though the next pitcher we face is doing good... he is no where near as dominant as Zambrano, Prior, and Colon... and doesnt have the "stuff" that the santana kid had. Bad thing is Rowand grounded out to SS for the 2nd time when Pods has been at 3B, than a course he hits a deep fly out his next ab, he needs to learn how to hit depending on the situation. Also the offense as a whole needs to score some runs because this is getting downright pathetic. Rowand's a pretty decent player who will usually come through in a situation like that, and I'm sure his mindset was to get that run home. There was a pretty decent pitcher who's mindset was just the opposite, and he happened to win that particular battle.
  2. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) DUDE whoever expelled me is bulls***....its not a derogatory term its short for Japanese....he is Japanese isnt he.....I am freakin pissed..... Cruddy is derogatory...its belittling him........Jap is short for his nationality......i just dont get it A little information for you. This particular scenario has come up once before. Though I personally didn't agree that "Jap" was an offensive term, it was decided here on Soxtalk, after much discussion, that it should be considered inappropriate and would be handled accordingly. This, of course, had nothing to do with you at the time, but the decision was made. Knowing that you weren't aware of this, it's understandable that you were a bit put out by being momentarily booted. Considering that it got your attention, and you were quickly allowed back in and now you have this information, I would assume that this would be the last we hear about this issue and we all just root the Sox on to a championship.
  3. We need to get the lumber out of it's slumber. The Twins, as expected, are not laying down for us.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:53 AM) Also keep in mind that there's a clause in Clemens's contract that stipulates that if he's traded from the Astros, he's owed another $3 million. So if a team wants him they're not paying 7 or 8 million, they're paying like $11 million. So .. would Houston eat 3 million to save 8 million?
  5. But, but, but ... This is a violation of their civil rights!
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) Sorry I wasn't clear, I actually meant how do they affect Charlottes roster. Do they have to move guys around to make room for Frank and Ross? My bad. I forget what forum we were in when answering that question.
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Don't you f***ing get it, Ervin Santana is a STUD. In all seriousness, there was no excuse for last night to get beat like that. Someone needs to find out when the last time was that the best team in baseball got beat in a complete game shutout by a pitcher making his second career start. Wait, I bet its never happened. I'm not going to research it, but I'd be inclined to believe that it has happened.
  8. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 24, 2005 -> 08:26 AM) My co-worker who lives in one of the rooftops witnessed the whole thing and said it was 3 Cub fans who beat the crap out of the off duty cop. One of the Cub fans had to be Tasered by the cops. At first I thought there might have been a Sox fan involved, but that's not the case......actually it is, but it was a Red Sox fan. Yet Wrigleyville is the safer area. :rolly
  9. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) An internet posting is asking for prayers for him. http://www.nbc5.com/news/4524879/detail.ht...317&dppid=65192 I pray the injuries are fatal.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) With both Frank and Ross in Charlotte for rehabs, do they have to clear roster spots for each of them? Or is there somekind of an exemption because they are major leaguers on a rehab?? When they are activated, there has to be room made on the roster for them.
  11. After being up for the Cub series, and the long flight with the subsequent jetlag ... well, I know they are excuses, but something to be taken into consideration before going out on the ledge.
  12. That was an amazing story.
  13. It's pretty damn hot. I saw it on FoxNews this morning. Of course, I didn't ming at all.
  14. Does anyone know anything about this kid?
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 24, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) s***, I'd rather have Rogo come up than scrape the bottom of the barrel with millar, come on guys, that a little bit of a stretch. I agree. Millar, Snow ... no thanks.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) Herb was a 3B. I'm appalled that you didn't know that. Oh. I knew that.
  17. QUOTE(beck72 @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) I also don't think the sox would bench Crede permanently. Yet. But they have never lit a fire under his ass, by getting someone in who could conceivably take over his spot at 3b. That's about the only thing the sox haven't tried doing in getting to Joe. Getting rid of Timo's salary means taking on some of Polanco's extra salary, and/ or additional prospects. Actually, that should have read, "I'm not looking at Polanco as a replacement."
  18. Polanco is only hitting .256 this year. But at 29 years old (I thought he was much older.) and with averages of .288, .289, .298 the past three years, that's a reasonable gamble.
  19. I think it will be Griffey before Dunn. Someone mentioned Cliff Floyd and that's a possibility. It could be Timo Perez and Luis Viscaino!
  20. Ok ... I've been looking at Polanco. He would be an upgrade over Ozuna.
  21. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) Do you have any ideas on who that 1B might be? Herbert Perry?
  22. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:38 AM) Offensive and defensively at 3rd base? Of course, look at Polanco's career stats. I wouldn't feel safe with Ozuna defensively at 3rd base. I'm looking at Polanco as a replacement. I don't think they'll bench Crede for him, permanently. Polanco is decent, but he's on the downside of his career, so his career stats are not what you expect in the future. I know Ozuna is 30 or so years old, but I just don't believe Polanco would be enough of an upgrade to justify trading 3 players and adding his salary. Getting rid of Timo would be a bonus though.
  23. Is Polanco that much of an upgrade over Ozuna at this point?
  24. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ May 24, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) All I have to say to Dusty and anyone else who is crying... booof***ingwhooooooo.....your guy was stupid enough to fall for something that he should know better than its his friggin fault....this type of s*** happens all the time. It doesn't happen all the time. They usually don't fall for it.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2005 -> 07:16 AM) With that pathetic free agent class, there is no doubt that Konerko is gone. Plus add to that the fact that Konerko hasn't been extended yet, and the writing is one the wall. My theory, look for one of the starting pitchers to be dealt for a first baseman and some depth in the off-season. I think this will be looked at by the Sox as a choice between PK and Frank. It's gonna be Frank, imho.
