That's what I'm saying. We've been talking for a month about how this team needs to built around pitching, defense, situational hitters, etc and to get away from the power right handed hitters. So ... everyone thinks we should trade a good young pitcher with a very high upside for Rh hitting, high K, defensive liablity slugger. Makes sense to me.

Martinez is a class act and a very good ballplayer. But he is not Hall of Fame material.

In a word, yes. When you really stop and look at what Garland has done compared to other #3 and #4 starters around the league, he's right there with them stat-wise. Some of these guys are up and coming, like Garland. Some are peaking now and will never get any better and some of the older guys are on there way down. With the plan in place to acquire another front line starting pitcher, that gives Garland and the Sox an even bigger window of opportunity for him to find his groove. He can sit as a #5 for two years and continue to learn how to be a quality starter. Hopefully, somewhere in that window of opportunity it will all come together for him.

Most of the ones that support the war and would be willing to go, are in Bahgdad, not New York City.
