Reagan Funeral
He restored America's dignity. That was his greatest accomplishment. The end of the cold war would not have happened otherwise.

Flaws in Guillen's managing
It takes two to tango. Seattle has put any movement of Garcia of hold for a while. And who knows if the DBacks will even consider trading Finley?

Colon
Those guys can be a mixed blessing. They may be willing to spend the bucks, but they have to let their baseball people make the personel decisions. For example, from what I understand Art Moreno ordered the Angels' baseball people to draft jared Weaver even though they had someone else targeted. That's not a good precedent to set. They Yankees started their run of success when King George backed off and let his baseball people do their jobs. I can see Cuban being Steinbrenner of old, or a current day Moreno.

The Official Call-Up Borchard Thread
I'd love to see Borchard in RF while we are waiting for Magglio to return. If he could step and supply some power and RBI that would really balance our lineup. Seeing Bajenaro in the pen would be nice too!

Latroy Hawkins bashes media
I wonder if we'll be reminded of Hawkins refusal to speak to the media on a weekly basis like we currently are with Thomas.

Gio Gonzalez, lhp, #38 pick
Baseball Moms. Ya gotta love 'em.

Are our beloved rivals cheaters?????
Bingo. This is flat out cheating. It seems like the AC always has to be on, for one reason or another, just when it is most beneficial to Twins for it to be on.

White Sox interested in Kris Benson
I will be totally stunned if KW moves Borchard or Reed.

Possibly Good News
Same role he had last year after JM demoted him. Occupy roster spot. Pitch in blow outs. That's about all.

Possibly Good News
That's the only one I have. My last sig was a baseball card. This is off of a wall plaque I bought for one of my kids years ago. I don't even remember where I got the plaque. I just scanned it and shrunk the image.

Possibly Good News
The fact is that Koch has failed. You can't be afraid to put Shingo in there. If he fails, we are no worse off than we are now.

Why not Marte?
Hey Brando. How many times do we have to tell these guys that Blown Save stats for a set-up man is something entirely different than those for a closer? Well evaluating whether a setup guy can be a good closer, the blown save stat is just, well, BS.

Frank's splits this year
And that is the key to a successful Frank Thomas.

Willie Harris
Soriano ain't all he's been cracked up to be. That was partially the influence of the New York/Bristol media hype. Ala Jeter. Soriano is a good hitter, but he's not such a great baseball player. Willie, on the other hand, is a damn good all around baseball player that is not ever going to be the same type of hitter as Soriano. But then, Willie has different strengths which he is learning to utilize to increase his overall effectiveness. It isn't all about home runs. A good lead off hitter is like gold in this league. Especially for this particular team. Willie is the ignition for our high powered offense. With Willie's defensive ability and versatility, I say he's more valuable to the Sox than Soriano would be.

"Borchard's not going anywhere''
I was afraid they'd ship Joey B off in a deal. I'm glad to see KW has that attitude. I also read somewhere that KW has deemed Reed as an untouchable. That may be just to build him up for trade value, though.

Flaws in Guillen's managing
I thought Ozzie made a mistake having Uribe sacrifice in the inning that Carlos left the bags loaded. That brought up Willie to face a lefthanded pitcher after already squandering one out. I know Willie already a hit, but the odds of him getting two in a row facing a lefty are just a bit too long. And that 1st pitch strike call against Lee really hurt. The next two pitches he swung at, he HAD to because that outside corner was 4 inches wider than it should have been, in his mind. We could have broke the game open right there if that ump would have called a decent strike zone.

Enough
I yield. I give up. I surrender. This team can't win with Koch as a closer. He turned a 3-2 west coast trip to a 1-4 trip. This situation has to be addressed and changed. Give it to Takatsu. Let Jackson set up along with Marte. Relegate Koch to the same role he had with JM late last year. :headshake

Marlins searching for relief and a catcher...
Burke? There's no way they'd think Burke would improve their catching situation. He was near the Mendoza line in AAA if I remember correctly.

Marlins searching for relief and a catcher...
Your Red Sox are showing.

Sox running themselves out
Very good points. If the pitcher is thinking about something other than getting the batter out, then it's advantage Sox.
-
Crede
Crede needs to bat 8th until he turns things around. Olivo is perfect for the 9th spot. He gets on base and he has decent speed. Sort of a second lead off hitter, so to speak.

gay marriage.
There is only one little flaw in that philosophy. A foundation can be knocked down, but rebuilt stronger and more solidly than the original. It's the exception to the rule, but it can certainly happen that way.

Mark Prior
Kids Cry as Prior Skips Out That seems like an appropriate headline to me. It'll probably be on the Trib's front page tomorrow.

What would it take to get Garcia?
I think we could get Finley without raping our farm system. Belran would be awesome, but Finley would be close, production wise. If we are going to rent a player for half a season, I'd go after Finley and keep some of our minor league talent within the organization.
