I believe the Reds open at home because they were the first professional baseball team. It has just always been that way. Before these overseas games, and the Sunday season opener on ESPN, they used to be the first game to start, as well.

Sometimes people forget that these ballplayers are real human beings. Ripping these guys like what happened here is garbage. I don't want to hear about the big bucks they make, which is not true in this case anyway.

Ozzie's baseball insticts as manager still remains to be seen. I just know that I'd feel much better with a seasoned coach/manager type, not named Bevington, on the bench with Ozzie.

Today's losers for me today were Providence, So. Carolina, Louisville, Western Michigan. 23-9 for the first round with one sweet 16 team (Charlotte) eliminated. Not good, not bad.

I don't necessarily agree with the Sox just giving that number slot to Schoney. But since they did, he's been doing what he thinks it takes to make him the best starter he can be. I like his approach of learning and mastering those two pitches. He certainly has not proven that he "is clearly not capable of being a starter". He has been trying to prove he could be a starter, he's been trying to be a better starter than he otherwise would have been. You take a pitcher's best two pitches ... any pitcher ... and he's going to suck. Schoney has done this now because THESE GAMES DON'T MEAN SQUAT.

He has a chance to be this decade's Steve Howe.

Danny Wright has earned it. There were 5 or 6 guys competing for the spot and he's been the best of the group. I always felt he would come out on top. I write off last years difficulties to the elbow and knee problems he had.

I could care less about "fantasy" numbers. I'd also take Buehrle over everyone but Prior for a real life type pitching staff.
