  1. That's his problem. :fthecubs
  2. Frank Thomas's positive attitude and team first outlook is the best thing to happen to this team in ages. I look forward to a year of Frank being happy, healthy and hitting. He will carry this team a long way, maybe all the way, if can maintain his health and attitude. Frank is that damn good.
  3. I think Baltimore will be throwing bucks at pitching next off season. They added a ton of offense this year.
  4. Adkins may knock Shingo out of the pen instead of Jackson.
  5. This is move I've been wanting to see happen since we had Robin Ventura. I would have loved to have seen Robin bat #3 with Frank hitting behind him. But as for the current club, I like it too. Having Frank Thomas hit in front of you will cause an increase in the number of DP's you hit into, as it did with Maggs. Knowing Magglio's penchant for hitting hard ground balls, this gives Ozzie the flexibility to have the runner's steal or put on a hit and run with Magglio at the plate. That is something that you couldn't do very often with Frank on base. And as Ozzie pointed out, Magglio can score from 1st on a gapper, where Frank could not. This will increase Frank's RBI opportunities as well. I'm 100% in favor of this move.
  6. Anybody want to buy a Sox Guillen jersey?
  7. Ozzie has been calling everybody, even Frank, a "kid". How many times has he said since spring training started, "I love that kid."?
  8. September 11, 2001 would have been my late son's 20th birthday, so I wasn't really in a normal state of mind anyway. I was watching the Today Show on NBC where they reported a commeter plane had hit the WTC. I immediately turned over to CNN so I wouldn't have to listen to a Katie Couric fluff interview instead of the hard news. I was watching live whenplane #2 hit. The word "terrorist" came out of my mouth instantly. Later, it occured to me that Sept 11 would no longer be a day for just me to mourn, as I would be sharing it with the entire nation. I had, and still do have, mixed feelings on that one. I know it's somewhat selfish, but when it comes to emotions at level, you can't change them. You can only accept them.
  9. As a former resident of the State of Illinois, and with the untimely demise of the UK basketball season, I hereby start rooting for U of I. I hope they win the whole enchilada.
  10. I got 8/16 as it now stands. Still have 6 of the elite 8. (Ga Tech, WFU, OkSt, Duke, Tex, Cuse, UConn) 3 of final four. Had KY over UConn in final game. Basically, it's toast.
  11. Don't diss on Grilli yet. He's had one bad outing all spring. Sometimes, there are just days like that. I know I've had days that nothing went right. Grilli's stats before this outing were pretty respectable. I think shipping him back to the Fish this soon would be a mistake. Now, as for that Bullard guy .... Cut his ass!
  12. I also preffered that we hired a bench coach with experience. But there is no way in hell that I'm going to criticize Harold Baines without giving him a fair and legitimate shot. He was too good and too classy (still is) for too long in a White Sox uniform for be the recipent of undeserved critcism. Also, criticizing the Sox for hiring is a backhanded slap at Harold which is also undeserved.
  13. Oh, I got it. Hence, the "rolleyes" smiley.
  14. Helluva post whitesox61382.
  15. Hitting rocks with sticks is NOT baseball.
  16. True. We can always rip the Cub fans miserably lame excuses to shreds after they choke.
  17. That sounds like something he should be working on in spring training.
  18. This book makes Beane look like the Ultimate GM. He's done some good things and some that weren't so good. I think he underestimated Olivo but knew exactly what he was getting in Bradford. As for the Sox taking Ring in the draft, that's a crapshoot anyway. Just because things might still work out well for Beane doesn't mean he's a genius. Beane got lucky with the big 3 in their rotation. How often does it happen that 3 young pitchers all mature and come through like those guys did. They make him look awfully smart. I think Beane's gotton too much credit, partly because of this book.
  19. ll spring long I've been reading that Koch was going to suck because he can't get his heater above 94. Now he hits 97 and he's going to suck because he does that. I don't get it.
  20. The Sox picture Shingo as this year's Tom Gordon. Yet, I seem to fear that he'll be this year's Rick White.
  21. I think our supply of quality young outfielders is precisely why Magglio will be elsewhere next season.
  22. Wow, you give witesoxfan 3 years to speculate on, and you could end up with a novel to read. There were some interesting scenarios presented here. Fun to read.
  23. I'm just glad Bull got into the game.
