Maybe Padres were scared of Crochet reliability but wow...they just traded DeVries for a guy who pitches an inning here and there White Sox the last two deadlines might be a little focused on guys who are ready to get to MLB soon. A function of how Getz has to prove himself to Jerry, Ishbia (all of MLB) that he is a real GM, and has Jerry's remaining lifetime to do so. Not saying he is making bad decisions but some of the decisions are veering win-soon, more so than win-later. I hope the franchise is kept in good health with decent decisions, in so doing.

20M would be spent on someone who wouldnt be that good... we'd have to overpay to get someone here in 2026. And it takes care of CF, obviously a tough position. I can talk myself into this. We may spend a little next year. It is our go-to move to get a young team some additions , get people excited, and then lose all momentum due to a CBA disagreement

i think we wanted him but also catchers rest more than other positions. the value in trades just is muted by that, any way you slice it

big problem with the prime Luis trades is you dont have many suitors because he was worth so much that he'd take a team's entire farm. These days giving multiple top prospects up.. is rare. Even with Crochet we had to take a catcher
