  1. in offseasons like this one it's nice to think about Jeremy Reed being, well, bad now.
  2. If we're expecting Uribe and Richar to be similar numbers wise.... then doesnt it make sense to go with Uribe opening day? You can get his trade value up for a bit.... and you're probably going to get a little power from him than Richar, even if the stats last yr are comparable. I dunno. First ss injured somewhere, and you go knocking on the door with Uribe and his upstart .308 average. Quickly traded before it does its usual swannage.
  3. I like it simply for the fact that there's just less talk in general. Like '05. When the exhibition is talked up insane amounts it just hurts my head. I know, why am I on a message board, etc.
  4. I dont really get the Bartolo hate... did he have some personality issues I'm not aware of? Well I guess ppl can be mad he left, but he produced alright, and we didnt pay up.
  5. If someone wants to call me naive and inform me, I'm all for it. But let me ask this... Why is everyone so up in arms about losing the prospects? Sure we potentially lose a lot, but 1) none may pan out 2) isn't it (theoretically) just a decision to spend more on the present EVERY year? it's not just going for 2008. it means JR will have to spend more each year to come. Not saying JR will, but theoretically, isnt it something you shouldnt get up in arms about? if we just drained the minor league pitching, then said pitching will never see the big leagues. we'll replace that with actual major leaguers.
  6. video of this hot button issue http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/...egoryId=2459788
  7. just showed him on ESPN rehabbing his ACL with a sox hat on he's from montana, weird.
  8. Wow, kinda hilarious that he calls himself a potential jackass. i thought them days wuz over for him
  9. QUOTE(RudyLawRules @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) They sure like to celebrate HRs. even more hilarious, according to the announcing...that HR is of a game-tying dinger in the FIRST inning. i think it's a postseason game, but still. that is quite the celeb. If the game ends 12-14, there's going to be about 700 total high fives.
  10. I saw that agent description too and thought it was the most pathetic thing i've ever heard someone say about their client.
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 12:45 PM) More likely, KW is again working under the radar, and it will be something no one expected. He does excel at that. I wouldnt say he excels at it, but it's more like... he LIKES to do it, and pulls the trigger impulsively to make sure he always does it that way.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 03:45 PM) Quit trying to make this seem like not the worst signing ever. It's a valid point though. Look at the 06 numbers, where Cordero's pretty much Linebrink - and then last year he was not tons better than Linebrink either
  13. post about hunter or dont, i dont want to have to scroll back to find the last thing directly about him in this thread
  14. and then said fan drops his beer can, full
  15. despite my postcount, believe i am depressed all day now would we be better with 1B Thome, DH Big Frank. OK - kill me . . . .
  16. QUOTE(Shadows @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:36 AM) Seconded. harsh restatements of my original post, all of you. this is gonna be life changing i can sense it !!!!1!!!!
  17. the trade's coming, and my gimmick will be useless soon
  18. Cotts isn't from Bloomington-Normal. His hometown Lebanon, IL is really far south, near East St. Louis, hence him and Buehrle driving together.
  19. he sweated one whole heck of a lot.
  20. I think if KW was going to do anything about CF, we wouldve seen it by now. If he couldnt turn Garcia and/or McCarthy into some kind of CF answer, then he must not have liked anything much out there that would be available in trade. unless he wants to find an unproven guy somewhere, he'll go with his own unprovens, BA, Owens, Sweeney.
  21. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 08:51 PM) I think that those who spin every move KW makes into something positive for the Sox for the present, future and all times will take whatever happens in 2007 and torture their "logic" into arguing that everything KW did was just right. understood that some people do this "spin"... but it is very possible to like this deal and not be a Kenny apologist. some people just dont think McCarthy was all that great, some people are not convinced he was going to be anything more than a 4.00 ERA starter. no one here has closely followed the careers of Danks and Masset from game to game, but we can still like this trade and appreciate having some life breathed back into the farm system.
