  1. This is a little off topic, since he's in the majors now.... ...but going into this year, how highly regarded has Wilson Ramos been?
  2. We're going to be OK if we have the usual Alex defense, and offensively if the current Gordon and Morel stay around for a bit. That'll be enough for the bottom of the lineup. Of course working in Lillibridge - no problem at all with that. But Rios' sense of entitlement and track record for pouting is going to prevent a benching, I think we all sense that.
  3. So is it basically the case that if you dont have 3 yrs service time in, you are always going to have Arb years to go through. Even if you've signed a 1 yr 500K with a new team.
  4. Is this wrong, then? He's actually under team control for four years? http://www.spotrac.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/philip-humber/
  5. season has made me feel like the horse from Pt 1
  6. People make the mistake of saying Floyd has a deer-in-headlights look when in reality he just kind of looks like a deer, period
  7. Wins mean nothing. Phil is the s***
  8. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 26, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) Slappy fast guys do have a major league role. Juan Pierre's career, hate it all we want, has kind of been an amazing thing I'll correct this. Slappy fast guys who have good enough defense to up their WAR each year (besides this one)

  10. QUOTE (knightni @ May 23, 2011 -> 12:02 PM) Mature... I hope so; he's almost 30 years old. His problem is that he's just a poor base stealer and he can't bunt. That's not really a leadoff-type hitter. I have to say I'm kind of enticed by the idea of having a leadoff hitter whose limitations with typical leadoff hitter skills may actually push Ozzie to layoff small-ball. If Pierre was injured tomorrow, there's little doubt in my mind Alexei would move into the 1 hole. It'd either be that or move Lillibridge into the starting lineup. If next year's roster was the same with the exception of Viciedo in for Pierre, then AR again would be the leadoff guy. Not ideal but as was mentioned before, Pierre nearing age 34 doesn't appear ideal at leadoff either.
  11. Hey, nice unexpected surprise there
  12. Alexei with his best start to a season ever, right?
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ May 21, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) I hate to pick on the one negative today, but I have no idea how a player as established and consistent in his career as Dunn is, can be this bad for this long. Dude, get it going. Paulie's had really bad stretches in his career too. It happens. They're different kind of hitters, but even with less K's Paulie has been down this road before too. In fact right around when he was the same age as Dunn too I believe.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 20, 2011 -> 09:37 PM) I have a feeling Thornton will be back to his old self by July. It's obvious now though that making him closer was not good for his head. No evidence points to this. Evidence is he has fallen off physically. Why didn't he fall apart last year when he was given a career high in save opportunities?
  15. QUOTE (Real @ May 20, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) Humber has nothing left to prove to me except for doing this for 25 starts or more in a year, dude has been phenomenal and almost no-hit the Yankees on top of that, stud Dont refer to me as stud. Makes me feel all awkward.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 18, 2011 -> 03:24 PM) This makes me feel better. Fall 12 games behind and nothing to fear. Cleveland won't be there in the end. Conversations like this one can go round and round, obviously. But just another view of it: If CLE beats us two straight, it puts them at .682 pct, so it's a pace for 110 wins. With that information, I think most of us would step back and say at that point...CLE will slump at some point. They're not going to continue at this pace. Their slump doesn't have to start against us - we just need the slump to happen. And unless they're getting 110 wins, some form of it will happen.
  17. Reeeeally tired of having "SHES 18 NOW!!!" visible to others at my workplace Speaking of age limits though - would be nice to have one for this board
  18. Let me propose this - the importance of our supposedly key next two wins against CLE (were they to happen) would be seriously hampered by losing us our following two games. And CLE winning theirs. We're so far down we can't circle games quite yet. Doing so is only to keep us more interested or motivated.
  19. I'm going to get so much done this summer, this is gonna be great
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 2, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) one run out of that If your standards for this team lately are still high, I dont know what else has to happen.
  21. I understand that '10 and '09 were decent-to-good years for Juan Pierre...... ....but nonetheless, give me some help with this: Why is it that, year-in year-out, Juan Pierre's WAR is often of good quality? I dont know a lot about how these are calculated. Any help is greatly appreciated, even shot-in-the-dark conjecturing.
