QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) Not trying to be over sensitive, but I don't think there's enough details released to say they were being stupid on the boat. No alcohol found on the scene and suspicion is they may not have even seen the jetty before they hit it. I'm sure statistics would tell you driving 30 foot boat full speed at 3:30 AM along the shoreline is more dangerous than having a coke bender.

I'm certainly not calling Fernandez a prospect BTW.

I really hate to make the comparison, but Bias was a 2 time All American, 2 time ACC player of the year and 2nd overall pick by the Celtics. Based on the exposure, he was already a star. It's not like a MLB prospect dying because nobody really watches MiLB and they aren't making the cover of Sports Illustrated. I was 5 years old when he died and I still remember hearing the news. Bias was actually the first thing I thought about when I heard the news because it was 2 budding stars that's died tragically doing something stupid. Such a bummer.
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) While that is tragic and sad, it doesn't quite compare to this. A young star whos been around a few years but still really young passing tragically in the prime of his career. He mentioned something about a young basketball player dying. I'm not really trying to assess the value.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 01:13 AM) Ugh, this is so f***ed up. Some guys and I were talking at work. Who the last young star to die in pro sports? Closest I could think of was Oscar Tavares, but even though he was the #1 prospect in the sport, he wasn't a star yet. My buddy mentioned some basketball player, but I don't follow that sport. EDIT: Sean Taylor comes to mind now. Len Bias overdosed on cocaine 2 days after being selected 2nd overall in the 1986 draft.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 11:50 AM) i was surprised he gassed because it didnt appear he was overexerting himself at that point. There wasnt a lot happening on the fence, nothing went to the ground, he wasnt throwing wildly, McGregor was pacing himself well, and then all the sudden it was gone. When you're putting a beating on a guy and he keeps coming it probably robs your energy. The same thing happened to Diaz when he tried to bully McGregor in the 4th and McGregor started t'ing off on him again.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 11:42 AM) There was a lot going on throughout the fight, and I am not disputing Conor won and he certainly rocked Diaz a lot more than the other way around. It was just so strange, McGregor was beating his ass and then it seemed like he hit a wall in the 2nd and Diaz started coming for him, and thats when Conor started clock watching and walking across the mat and letting Diaz chase him. It wasnt until that cut opened on Diaz in the 4th and he was constantly wiping blood away that McGregor woke up and started throwing hard punches again Diaz is durable as hell and a much bigger man. I'm not surprised McGregor gassed again. He looked much better against Holloway, a fellow FW.

Not sure how to embed on this forum, but here's the link. McGregor beating the hell out of Nate
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 21, 2016 -> 12:27 PM) No, but I would have liked to see him more aggressive and not watching the clock the entire time There's a gif running around that I'll try to post later of the significant strikes McGregor landed. He beat the hell out of Diaz. McGregor has no business fighting at 170. His frame can't carry that weight. I hope they give him Alvarez next.

Cord cutters should Google "Kodi."

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 06:53 PM) He'll never have any value unless he can hit 30+ HR or hit .300+ because he has zero defensive value or stolen base potential. With over 1000 major league AB's, 95% chance he's a finished product at this point. KW with his stubbornness and massive ego is the only reason Avi is still here. Link?

Luckily I've learned that I can still enjoy something without being so immersed that it affects my mood. Otherwise, I'd be pretty pissed right now.

I own that hat. I have about 50 Sox hats and 60 pairs of sneakers. We all have hobbies.

Remember when Caufield found a way to work Puig into every thread? We'd be talking about iPhones and he'd start talking about Puigmania, or whatever the hell they called it.

I watched the Hunt/Brock fight again and I literally don't believe it was real. A WWE character vs an obese 41 year old kick boxer with 12-11 record is some UFC 1 level s***.
-
All those were novelty fights. Hell, the Hunt fight looked like a work. The Silva/Cormier fight sent MMA back 10 years. The only main card worthy fight was Aldo/Edgar. MMA is in bad shape. They need to start paying the fighters to attract talent.

Multiple Dallas police officers shot at anti-police protest

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 12:27 PM) You misunderstood my words so badly it's hard to even take you seriously. Let me connect the dots for you, because apparently you need it done. What I said is, from the start of American history, or history in general, the mere idea of basing hate on the color of one's skin is silly. It's as silly as black bears and polar bears hating each other based on nothing other than fur color. THAT'S ALL I SAID. I never absolved the struggles or realities of the world. I never in that statement pretended oppression didn't occur. I'm merely pointing out that color is f***ing silly, and everything ever done based on color is even sillier. Because it is. You speak of oppression in the past tense and act like I'm out of touch? There is no equality in America. Hell, we live in one of the most segregated and oppressive metropolitan areas in the country. -

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 08:17 AM) Exactly how I feel. And anyone doing this is a f***ing twat. If those black friends of yours are doing that, by the way, they're not really your friends. They're acquaintances at best. And the same goes for white people who pretend to have black friends. That's all you are to them, that token they can point too and say, see...I have white friends , or see, I have black friends! I grew up going to a dominantly Mexican grammar school and a very racially mixed high school, and I never looked at them as "black friends" or "Mexican friends", they were just people...just friends. And this is all bulls***. I'm sick of it. It's as silly as a white furred dog hating another dog because it has black fur, or visa versa. It's. THAT. f***ing. Silly. I don't want to start a debate in light of current events, but this would only be true if the black furred dog was systematically oppressed for the better part of American history. This attitude is incredibly naive and borderline insulting. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) He's goin' to LA. I'll go greg and advise everyone to bet the house on that one. Man, how do the Thunder and their fans feel right now? Four years ago they had Durant -23, Westbrook -23, Harden -22, and Ibaka -22. Looked primed to take over the league even after losing to Miami. Now this time next year you're looking at building around Oladipo/Adams. Two fine players. But nothing compared to what could've been. You feel like the fan of the vast majority of sports teams? One things most sports fans have in common, your team sucks.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2016 -> 07:03 PM) Who is the center now for GSW? Varejao? Do they have any money left over to replace him? One of their weaknesses will be interior defense without Bogut. Very popular player, organization was basically forced to part with him for financial reasons. Ezeli's out too, guess they'll come up with someone, as every C in the world not currently attached to an organization will want to play for them. Greg Oden, come on down. Joking about that one. Maybe Rush can get some more playing time with their smaller line-ups. He's a very solid defender as well, at least he was at Bishop Miege and at Kansas. I don't think they care about defense. The rules are so skewed towards offense that if you have that many good scorers on one team, you can just outscore everybody.

If you're actively trying to look for timeline fallacies and nitpicks, you've lost the plot. It's entertainment. It's not meant to be anything else. -

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 27, 2016 -> 09:03 AM) I did, but it was still a weird time jump. It would have been nice to see a 30 second scene with Tyrion/Dany welcoming him back. Instead it was like, oh hey there, welcome back. I've never had a problem understanding why a show with over 150 named characters, spanning several continents isn't exactly linear. Maybe they should have title screens that say "6 months later. Slaver's Bay." -

I also really loved how Tommen's death mirrored Bran being thrown from the tower. The act that started everything was the same that ended her prophecy. -

I can't believe I never put this together. The reason Ser Arthur Dayne never left the Tower of Joy was because he knew Jon was the rightful king. That's why Ned was surprised he stayed there. Duh. Even knowing R+L=J, I never really thought about that.
