Legitimate chance of Sale trade to #Nationals per Rosenthal
TaylorStSox replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:22 PM) To be fair, the Sox technically had Jose Iglesias, Frankie Montas, J.B. Wendelken and Cleuluis Rondon from that. If the Sox had only held onto Iglesias :/ Yeah, it was actually a good trade. 4 intriguing prospects for a guy whose arm was barely hanging on. Also, we don't know what's happening behind the scenes. For all we know, Sale has told the Sox he won't pitch for them. While he's contractually obligated, he's immature enough to do some really stupid things and completely disrupt anything he's part of. -

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:05 PM) Man, it'd be nice if some of the people here actually tried to answer questions and didn't just make smart-ass remarks. When did I ever say Benintendi and Devers were nowhere near enough? I'd be thrilled with that return, and I always would have been. Piece #6 in a Chris Sale trade doesn't mean much to me. I care about the headliners and if those are solid, I'm going to be happy. And TaylorStSox, maybe I'm a little skeptical about the competence of a FO that once gave us Avisail Garcia as a centerpiece. But I appreciate your attempt a wise-ass remark nonetheless. Peavy had a ton of value obviously -

Every year I'm shocked at fans pretending they know the value of a player more than the people that actually male a living doing it. -
Then you win 80 games, make no progress as an organization, Sale blows out his shoulder and you're truly f***ed.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Lol at 5-6 win players not being blockbusters. People are idiots. I think teams are going to be reluctant to give up the farm for a RF with a sub 800 Ops despite the his WAR, especially when he doesn't have any truly stand out tools. In the same way, teams will be reluctant to give up the farm for Q because his stuff doesn't wow you, despite the consistent results -
The only tradeable player I'd even entertain the idea of retaining is Q.

It was the picture Delores's father dug out of the ground in the second or third episode. It supports the 2 timeline theory.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) It has been working well so far. Only watched 1 show but it went pretty smoothly with a few minor hiccups but nothing to make unwatchable I use Exodus and Phoenix for pretty much everything. Most can play at around 720 with some at 1080. Not bad for the price and infinite library.

I've had Fire TV with Kodi for several months. Would never go back. I've become a huge cricket fan. Not really, but I could if I wanted.

I don't believe it at all. -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) Nintendo also shifted most of their resources to Switch a while ago. Wii U has been pretty much dead all year and even 3DS has seen a slowdown in quality releases. Furthermore, three of the games I mentioned are enhanced ports (if you count the new Zelda) and shouldn't take that much time to develop. I honestly believe we see all those games in the first 12 months of Switch's life. It really like Nintendo finally figured its s*** out for the first time in my adult life. Can't launch with only two 1st party games and then have nothing to offer for months. This is really do or die time for Nintendo and it appears they aren't f***ing around anymore. Yeah, but Nintendo not f***ing around is still Nintendo. When I get on the court, I'm not f***ing around, but still couldn't make High School varsity.

Imagine the shame Bill Clinton feels right now. This is just embarrssing. It's like being shut out by a 27 year old A ball pitcher.

Somewhere David Axelrod and Bill Clinton are contemplating seppuku.

Well, my dream has always been to live in a tiny house along the coast in Mexico. Might be time to kick-start that plan.

Maybe it'll be the catalyst for some real social unrest. We ignore that the status quo can't continue. The division among classes is becoming too great a schism. Maybe this is just a misguided reaction to that. I don't know, I'm pretty stoned.

I'm generally apolitical, but I'm just in awe. This is mind boggling.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 08:33 AM) Unfortunately now the sox don't have a chance at the kids of those bandwagon fans either. I don't really think this is true. My sporting interests weren't really dictated by who the best team was.

Nintendo is trying to convey that their system can play modern games and has a 5 year old game in their first look trailer of a new system. Oh, Nintendo.

1000 more people shot in Chicago vs same time last year
TaylorStSox replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
My keyboard is disorganized. Chicago gangs are a cultural phenomenon rooted in the days of Civil Rights. Until we accept and understand that, we won't find solutions. Sociologists would be far more qualified than government agencies. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 18, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) I find that difficult to attribute it to. Chicago was following a national wave. I think the destructoin of public housing was certainly a contributing factor, and the removal of gang leadership causes changes, but there's no problem unique to chicago that was not found in NYC/DC/LA...except there is one thing, Chicago has not seen population growth. Also DC and NYC have very different gangs. Those cities mostly run in small crews. The GD's, for example, are almost 60,000 strong and up until Larry Hoover was moved to Supermax, we're highly organized and disciplined. The structure of Chicago gangs is very unique to Chicago. Now, the GD's and Latin Kings are nationa, but their base is still here. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 18, 2016 -> 12:41 PM) I've said it before but I find it startling that we really don't know why crime rose dramatically in the 60s-80s and then fell just as dramatically in 90s-00s. And now it rises again and we don't know what to do. That's scary. In Chicago it can be directly tied to 2 actions, the dissolving of leadership and the destruction of the high rise projects. For example, the Robert Taylor homes were a stronghold/safe place for the BD's. Those members were displaced and spread throughout the southside. Some of the gangs are almost 60 years old now. Generations identify with them. Culturally, they're more than just gangs. -

What you see on the Southside is basically a civil war between the GD's and BD's. It's so deep rooted that the members find their actions just, the same as warring armies. The GD's are larger and more powerful, which results in the BD's being hyper-violent and engaging in guerilla style tactics. It's quite fascinating. The Feds tried to treat it like the Mafia or Hells Angels. They really didn't understand the scale or the cultural aspects of their actions though. -

TaylorStSox replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
The Feds really opened Pandora's Box when they instituted RICO on Chicago gang leadership. What little order there was has completely dissolved. Gangs actually policed themselves somewhat. Violence is bad for business. Now it's absolutely lawless.
