  1. Yet people actually want to invest $400 Million into a player coming off a 1.3 WAR season?
  2. Neither of these players "will turn this thing around." It's not basketball. If 5 or 6 of our prospects hit, this thing will turn around.
  3. Eaton - 5 years/23.5MM Heyward - 8 years/184MM There's a slight difference in trade value, yeah?
  4. I'd actually love to have an honest conversation over drinks with KW about just that. KW definitely knows the game. I'd love to hear his candid opinion of what went wrong.
  5. Is that why they're trying to get out of that contract?
  6. My favorite part about Heyward is he's the textbook example of why defensive WAR is garbage when actually evaluating whether you want a player, especially a corner OF. You can make the case for a SS, CF or C, but even then I'm skeptical.
  7. What? What in the hell does Eaton have to do with anything? First, Eaton is a CF, which automatically makes him more valuable. Second, we didn't move Eaton for a HOF'er. Third, Eaton was making $2.7mm when we moved him. We traded him in a rebuild. I have no idea how that example has anything to do with the discussion.
  8. Completely triggered by defense from a corner outfielder, which we know to be bullshit. He had 2 seasons with an OPS over .800. His highest OPS ever was .849. Heyward's always been a complete fraud, which is why most of us laughed at his contract.
  9. Thome was also relatively cheap, even considering the era.
  10. Heyward never had a prime to begin with.
  11. It wasn't a salary dump for a player past his prime, which was what the conversation was about. Thome was injured the year before, but followed it up with a 1.014 OPS. That trade's a bad example. Your other examples are all over the place as well.
  12. I was trying to make sense out of your post, so I checked out Thome's stats. A. That's a terrible example. B. More importantly, I just realized Thome only went to 5 AS games. That's insane.
  13. Possibly. I've had much worse luck at Twins and Indians games.
  14. I've always been pretty impressed with Yankees fans when they're in town. They travel well and the fans are generally respectful.
  15. As much as I hate being the "didn't want him anyway" guy, I really didn't want Harper anyway.
  16. Am I the only Sox fan that likes that the Cubs are here because they're good for the city? I mean, there's more important things in life than baseball. It doesn't make me not a Sox fan by not minding the Cubs.
  17. That's absurd. Francisco Lindor is a much better baseball player.
  18. Now that he has the curse of Beckham, I really wouldn't touch him. He's also had less than 500 PA's in 3 of his 7 seasons. Meh.
  19. I don't believe he has that type of potential. He's had 1 great year, 1 really good year and the rest have just been good. He's overrated. *edit* Like I said yesterday, if we're talking about Lindor, Yelich, Trout etc, I'm buying. Harper? Meh.
  20. The thought of paying $40MM to a guy coming off a year where he hit .249 with 169 k's while playing putrid defense makes me want to cry.
  21. I don't believe any baseball player in 2018 has enough star power to offset that big of an overpay. If we're talking about somebody like Betts, Yelich or Lindor, then I'd be excited. Harper? Meh.
  22. Am I the only one that's not that excited because Harper isn't that good? I mean, he's good, but he's not $40MM good.
  23. Based on the Sox history, absolutely. I'm still not seriously entertaining the idea that the Sox will sign Harper.
  24. It's been a really weak year. I think my 2 favorite films were Mandy and Annihilation. Mandy can't win any Oscars because of screening issues. Annihilation is Sci Fi, so it won't be taken seriously. Meh.
