  1. jsut seeing the clip of him jumping the wall and hitting that home run and Jack Buck saying 'AND WE'll SEE YOU.... TOMMOROW NIGHT' spinetingling I was just reading in the Star Tribune online that the stroke was pretty bad.
  2. It was hard watching the baseball game today. I remember way back in grade school staying up and watching the 1987 World Series and waving my homer hankie and cheering KIRRRRRRBBBEEEE puckett he got me hooked on baseball hopefully he comes out alright
  3. The Vikings are aiming for a new stadium up in Anoka (a northern subarb) they plan to move their headquarter to the new place too (right now its in Eden Prarie a western subarb) The Gophers, The Twins, and the Vikings are all looking at finicing for new stadium in the next legislative seesion which starts March 1st right now, I thin the Gophers are a shoe in to get their money (theyve raise a bunch of money for people are corporations, and sold the stadium naming rights for extra money. the stadium would be open air and on campus) I think the Twins are at 50-50 (from what I understand) and the Vikings are trailing that probably 45-55. I havent talking with my Representative lately about it so the deatils are a bit fuzzy *correction* the way the Twins stadium deal is set up is that there isnt state money involved, but a local option sales tax for Hennipin County (Minneapolis) would pay for it. The thing has been voted on (by the county comminssoners, but not a referendum) and needs State approval for the tax to go into effect. Which I guess is standard operating prodcedure. The hangup is that people are crying foul because there was no referendum.
  4. here is what the plans look like http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/...lpark/index.jsp
  5. all I got to say is that I support a bit of higher taxes to get an outdoor park
  6. QUOTE(beck72 @ Feb 6, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) I thought Crain was a strikeout guy but he only had like 29 in over 80 IP's. . he was but then he hurt his arm and lost velocity on his fast ball. He started to throw more junk balls up and and just get guys to hit ground balls
  7. Ruben Sierra is the final step to a championship!!!
  8. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) . Especially how everyone criticizes the offense for throwing the ball so much. Plus the fact that Reid is considered the offensive guru and play caller. Why would he be so highly sought after? the office talk was obvious Vikings and I brought this up. I said I dont really like the Eagles but their play calling sometimes is just bizzare, and if Childress was making the calls, I really dont want him here. Because the Tice regime has been liek that, and the last years of Denny Green. But I guess I didnt know that Reid did the calls
  9. scratch Gregg Williams off the list of coaching candidates. He jsut signed a extension with Washington. I can see the Vikings go after Jim Fassel or Dom Capers. Whoever ends up coach, I hope he keeps Ted Cottrel as defensive coach (that is if Cottrel is not a head coach yet)
  10. I watch Keith Olbermann show every night I have been since he came back to MSNBC I watch the 11pm (central) reboradcast then at midnight slip over to Jon Stewart and Colbert 2 hours of really good television
  11. DENNYS REYES IS THE ANSWER The Twins signed lefthanded reliever Dennys Reyes to a minor league contract this week, hoping to fill a hole created when they traded J.C. Romero to the Los Angeles Angels earlier this month. The Twins have yet to announce the deal, but his agent, Oscar Suarez, and a team official confirmed the signing Friday. Reyes, 28, will be in big league camp competing for a job and will be paid $550,000 if he makes the 25-man roster. He went 3-2 with a 5.15 ERA last season in 36 appearances with the San Diego Padres, who released him in July. Reyes made his major league debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1997. He went on to spend 3½ seasons with the Cincinnati Reds and has bounced between six teams since 2002. http://www.startribune.com/stories/509/5800311.html
  12. in addition to Sander, the Royals signed Joe Mays 1 year, 1 million dollars Mays, Sanders to K.C. The Royals signed 38-year-old outfielder Reggie Sanders to a two-year, $10 million contract, bringing him to the American League for the first time in his 16-year major league career. The team also signed former Twins righthander Joe Mays, 30, to a one-year, $1 million contract, expecting him to earn a spot in the rotation. Sanders hit .271 with 21 home runs and 54 RBI this past summer for St. Louis. He broke his right leg in an outfield collision July 15 but hit .305 with 10 homers and 29 RBI in 40 games after returning to the lineup in September. Mays, a 17-game winner and All-Star for the Twins in 2001, was 6-10 with a 5.65 ERA last year after undergoing major elbow surgery in 2003 http://www.startribune.com/stories/509/5800311.html
  13. Terry Ryan better be looking for more offense imo
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2005 -> 01:38 PM) Rondell can play when healthy, not a bad move for the Twins. this is what I am thinking but I am still thinking we are still going to go after Piazza or Thomas or work a trade with someone if not... 06 its going to be a painful year unless all the young guys learn how to hit in the offseason
  15. hmmm was he one of thee guys that went to Japan to get steriods cleaned out of his system?
  16. I congrats the Sox brass on another good move
  17. I say take Jones!!!! as mentioned in previous posts, he is incosistent. He has become a REAL streaky hitter. He'll hit 3 home runs in a week, and then hit .075 for 2 weeks. He constantly overthrows cutoff men and catchers on throws to home. I bet he threw the ball into the stands 3 times last year 2 reasons he was on the Twins squad last year -Jason Kubel, a top prospect, blew out his knee in the Arizona Fall League. -He is Torii Hunters best friend
  18. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Dec 12, 2005 -> 02:39 AM) Just imagine the storylines! "Clemens returns to historic Fenway Park to oppose his former team, New York Yankees." I just got excited. hahaha
  19. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) GLENN WILLIAMS alert! HAHAH yes how could I forget about he has reached base in all his games started in his career or something like that
  20. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) His critics don't like his road splits but the truth is that he's young and headstrong right now but his talent is still amazing and he will be an Eric Chavez-type player for a long time Hank Blaylock or Terry Tiffee/Mike Cuddyer/Juan Castro/whoever else they can dig up from the grave I'll take my chances with Blaylock
  21. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Dec 7, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) Did anyone else watch the SC on Sunday night, where Berman botched the plays of the week and said "I need to run that again." And they went to a commercial and came back and tried doing it again, and he did totally different catch phrases I saw that
  22. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Yeah. I think it was his show that made me into a big sports fan in 2002-2003. He did sports radio right. Its about sports, but more. And funny too. yeah! one of his cohorts, Jason Smith now does the overnights on ESPN Radio. I heard it Sunday night. He doesnt sound the same, as in less fun
  23. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 6, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) Jim Daniels - used to do overnights on Fox Sports Radio, went to Afternoons... since then, who knows. Jim Daniels got me hooked on Fox Sports Radio. That man and he crew were awesome but when he left, I listened to less and less and now I only listen late Saturday nights but on the FSR affilate in my area, they carry Rush at 11 am, so when Id wake up I heard a bit of him. I didnt really like his program. He made for a great alarm clock. Hear his voice, roll out ofbed as quick as possible. lol But, now I listen to National Public Radio/Minnesota Public Radio most of the time
  24. QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Dec 2, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) Imagine how the twins fans felt when we got paulie back and signed thome. I didnt like it when the Sox got both of them Bowyer is a flamethrower. But the Twins bullpen is pretty much set Rivas SUCKED and anybody is an improvement Punto isnt that bad, he is just not an everyday player all in all, I liked this move
