QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 01:34 PM) Abreu struggling like Pujols and it's frustrating to watch He's in one of his funks. Usually seems to last 2-3 weeks.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 01:22 PM) Sands is playing? He's not in the box score. And what was that play? My gamecast says Trout walked yesterday they just showed the replay of the 9th inning play.

*Gamethread* 4/21 - Angels vs White Sox
come on Jose, gotta get in a little better position than that.

*Gamethread* 4/21 - Angels vs White Sox
Can't throw that ball any better than Sands did and you can't slide any better than Trout. Real MLB caliber play all around, other than the slip of course. That little rain had to help.

Danks sure does throw his share of cock shot fastballs. Keep the ball down dude.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
So has anyone else hit a fastball as well as Saladino on that HR? Now that is a quick f***ing bat. Granted the pitch had too much of the plate but pulling that 96mph heater like that is pretty damn impressive.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 05:13 PM) Sale has taken that next step into unhittable. That's why maybe it is our year despite some obvious team weaknesses. Don't discount a Cubs-Sox WS just yet and if Sale and our other arms are still strong in the postseason, we might win it all. Let's uh, win tmr first.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) Reaching on an error doesn't raise your OBP either. How long have you been watching baseball? OBP is simply (H+BB+HBP)/(AB+SF+BB+HBP) A long ass time, played a lot of baseball as well including in college. Never got into the minutiae of scoring the game. Glad you guys were here to straighten me out.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) This is wrong. Reaching on dropped third is a .000 for your average and OBP. A hit with a TOOTBLAN is a 1.000 for your average and OBP. don't ever let me score the game!

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 03:09 PM) What the hell are you talking about? You are wrong on both points here. Really? If you are thrown out stretching a single it raises your OBP? And I was right on the dropped 3rd strike, it's an error.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 03:06 PM) No. It is an out, reached on fielders choice. yea but it raises your OBP. Just like getting a hit but getting thrown out going to second raises your AVG but not your OBP. wait, is it really a fielder's choice on a dropped 3rd strike? Huh. Thought for sure it was just an error.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 03:01 PM) He showed a lot of what he has to offer last year. He might be a league average SS in the end, mostly due to his defense. I don't think he's a good enough hitter though. Yea I think he could be a 2 WAR player.

Saladino needs to play until he proves he's not good. I kinda think he might be good.

QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 02:55 PM) Agreed. I like Avila's skill set, but I don't trust his health. In OOTP 16, Soto is usually a 2 WAR player. Of course I turn the injury slider down

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) They must have saw better tape on him last season that illustrated his struggles, because if this is what he looked like last year, no wonder his dad let him walk away. He's someone that looked done in Spring Training...but so was Latos I honestly thought if was healthy, and from all indications he is, he could hit 220/330/350 and give just as good as defense as flowers except with some more OBP. I think however he might just be toast. His back and concussion issues are behind him and he still sucks.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Anyone out there good at pressing buttons on a keyboard may want to send your resume to Brooks Boyer. Whoever they have putting the count on the scoreboard is beyond woeful. Not only is it often wrong, it is beyond slow. JR orgs are nothing if not ruthlessly efficient with this sort of thing. That the Sox had all the issues on opening day and from the number of complaints about the scoreboard count this year I can only assume that JR is not in the right health to keep the trains running on time. If this is the future of the franchises (Bulls and Sox) under his son as majority partner I really hope JR jr sells his stake when his dad passes.

Avi actually needs to take the advice of Hawk and that is to back the f*** off the plate and just try and look middle out. His swing is too long to try and sit on top of the plate like he does. Just concede the inside strike for now.

Good job boys. missed the game but saw the box. This team is gonna go 88-74 or 74-88. Either way they will give up 600 runs.

QUOTE (Scoots @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 10:58 PM) Nate Jones is one of my favorite players on this team. Love his attitude, his resilience, and his skill. He hasn't changed a bit results wise since before he got injured. That is awesome. For sure. The rare Sox overachiever.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 08:52 PM) They touched on that early in the year in Minnesota I believe. The part of Canada he's from doesn't get that cold. At least I thought that's what they said. He is from south BC more like Seattle weather than the continental US. 40s is usually as bad as it gets.

Erik Johnson called up, Shuck sent to AAA
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) Problem is folks don't want to hear the truth or logic. If you use the arguments we are hearing about Danks then 3/4 of our line up should be gone already Danks has an ERA- of roughly 80 since his return from capsule surgery and has been worth 1.3 bWAR over that time, including -.5 bWAR last year. fWAR is slightly kinder at 2.7 This is in a sample of well over 500 post surgery innings. His velocity this year is at an average of 87.3 MPH. Down a full 2MPH from last year and down over 4MPH from his pre surgery prime. There is nothing SSS about John Danks piss poor start. He is, at this point in his career, a borderline 5th starter. If he was not being paid what he's being paid there is zero doubt in my mind he'd have been sent out long ago. As I always, always say: John Danks came back from a surgery no other pitcher has come back from and pitched more than a couple years. That he has even produced any positive WAR in that time is a testement to his dedication and hard work. But father time is undefeated and so is the surgeon's knife. He is done as an effective MLB pitcher. He was done as soon as he went on under the knife really. This 2013 article from Colintj at SSS is still a must read on Danks and his injury.
