Sanchez is heating up. Good for that kid and good for Chicago and the fans. If he can JUST hit 260/300/350 there is a place for him.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 12:36 AM) I don't think with his .221 OBP with the Sox in 250 plate appearances anyone assumed he'd hit remotely like this and that includes Billy Beane. That said, he will come back down to earth. And with that said, when is the LAST TIME the Sox caught lighting in a bottle? Every. Single. FA. that has come here has gotten worse or at best stayed roughly the same. A few (Melky, Dunn) have been historically awful. How the f*** does that keep happening? Coaching. Scouting. Both at the same time, poor all of it.

Really great and level headed thread and lots of great posts. I think every post has had well articulated critiques of the franchise -- and it's deserved. It's hard to really fathom how bad the Sox have been defensively but then you put a figure like roughly 100 runs per year worse than a good club (KC) over the past 3 years and yea, it makes sense. Given what the scout posted and how brutal guys like Eaton and Ramirez and Avi and hell even Conor and Jose have been, it really seems like something is going majorly wrong in the coaching department. For the most part, these are young guys or guys in their prime that are really struggling. I will continue to harp on how RV let Eaton walk in with his dick dragging on the floor in the spring and how out of sorts Eaton has looked all year. Someone needed to give the "big time" talk to the kid and it's clear that either never happened or if anything was said, the message was inefective.

Sure, but think of how bad the offense would be if they brought in guys that could field. Wait what?

Dave Cameron: Sox Should Sell Sale, Q, and Abreu
chitownsportsfan replied to flavum's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Cameron is an complete and utter dick that gives saber guys a bad name. You think Keith Law is arrogant? At least Law watches hundreds of prospects live every year BEFORE he writes an opinion on them. Cameron's genius is writing a huge volume of s*** and hoping some of it sticks. This guy once suggested trading John Danks for Jose Lopez. This was when Danks was a good pitcher, pre injury. He also said that Robinson Cano would be lucky to have a career as a utility infielder and said he was one of the worst gloves he ever saw at 2B. Sometimes you wonder if he actually believes the s*** he writes. Oh and there was that time he ranked the Seattle Mariners the 6th best ORG in baseball. Uh, ok, maybe 6th from the bottom. -
QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) Guys, it's 113 pitches. He's a grown-ass man. Relax. He's averaging like 110 a start. In a lost season, that's ridiculous. I'm with Cooper, f*** a hard and fast limit on pitch count, but I'm also about being prudent. Don't leave him out when he's already been pitched hard this year and the game is over.

If I'm Chris Sale I'm calling my agent after the game and calling a meeting with the Sox' FO. This is madness how he's being used.
-
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 02:03 PM) Ventura's unbelievable. He's a f***ing moron why the f*** would you leave Chris in today but not the other night...
-
It's so obvious this is a lost season why in the f*** would you not get a head start on '16 BY BROOMING THIS STAFF. None of these guys are in tune mentally and are going backwards. And FFS, put Avi on the DL, he's hurting.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) Still cracks me up thinking how in game one of the season Hawk was preaching how Vince Coleman was going to be a difference in how this team plays,,,,as with most things he could not be more wrong. Ramirez having the best season a shortstop had ever had was the another.... lmao, you can't make this s*** up.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) Someone will gamble a million dollars or so on seeing if he can find one more year, SS is that weak of a position. Yea problem is that those 1 year deals are fully guaranteed, as we saw with Tank. I'd sign him for a million then if he sucked ass in spring, cya.

QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) Eaton is just terrible at running through 1st base. It's not even about being lazy. It bad base running. I'm guessing he's hurt. Pretty much all the knocks on him (not the best clubhouse guy when things aren't going well, oft injured) have proven to be true. Of course, he also was worth 3 bWAR last season, so the positives were true as well. Going to be an interesting 2nd half for him.

Ramirez isn't going to be a big leaguer next year. You'd think he'd realize this is his last contract... If he's that torn up over Minnie's death he needs to take a leave of absence for the good of the team. Get it together buddy.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 12:24 AM) 3 straight games with 10 or more hits. Abreu with 4 to get back to .300. Eaton with 3 . Melky with 2 more. Soto with 2. 6 doubles . Still took 15 hits to get just 6 runs but baby steps in the right direction. The Sox 1st win at MN. this year. Good pitching and defense. Melky/Ramirez threw out a runner at home and Soto caught Buxton stealing. Just start Soto, who knows, maybe he's good enough to earn a starting role for '16. Jettison flowers and bring up Smith. Move Nieto to AAA. Get it done.

Just the other day I was thinking "you know, Jose isn't that bad, but he's only a really hot couple months from getting back to superstar territory". Let's hope that has started. 15 hits? Color me impressed. Way to improve your trade value, Shark.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) i hate posts like that because it's not true. The trade sucks because Davidson sucks. At some point the evaluation has to be correct on a player you acquire before you say you'd do that trade 100 of 100 times. They shouldn't have done the trade period. Davidson sucks. I think you are right. I was hearing Wade Davis say as a reliever you let it all loose cause you don't need to save anything. You are in one inning and that's it, maybe 2 on a rare occasion. nobody has a crystal ball the key is to play the odds. The odds on Davidson were better than Reed.
-
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:48 PM) You gotta believe the Astros are still scratching their heads and wondering how the hell they got shutout by John Danks. how many pitchers are wondering how they shut out the sox? oh, not many.
-
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Pretty cool how we have a catcher who has been an above average major league hitter each of his last 4 years hitting .333/.486/.648 at AAA and we're not even starting him... at AAA. I understand developing Kevan Smith but they're using a rotating DH just to get at-bats for non-prospect infielders. I'd rather have given Phegly 500 PA than Flowers.

Everyone except Kevin Towers saw this one coming a mile away. Reed's fastball had dipped into the 93-94 range in 2013 and with that velocity has was gonna need a good breaking ball -- and he couldn't throw it for a strike 50% of his appearances. BABIP luck (HRs really) let him hold on as long as he did but Hahn did really well to see the writing on the wall and get a good prospect for him. Davidson hasn't panned out but that trade you do 100/100. Reed was a good closer (but hardly elite like some around here wanted to argue) when he was sitting around 95 and could throw his slider for a strike but for whatever reason those two things weren't happening anymore.

3-2, the most white sox win ever. Just lose the rest of the games and get the #1 overall pick. This team is going no where.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 07:15 PM) We have the talent level of a AA team we may as well run AA quality promotions. the sox' social media presence is pathetic as well. The Bulls do a good job with their stuff, not sure why the Sox are so out of touch. -
It's almost impossible to get fair value back for superstars like Jose and Sale. Sure, do it if you get 3 MLB ready starters back, but if you don't? Nah.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
chitownsportsfan replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Balta really nailed this one. So did 90% of the other posters but Balta's takes were spot on. Maybe KW and Rick should poll Soxtalk on the new manager.
