5-28, Toronto @ Sox 640CDT
Nice play from Beni. Dude is an absolute clown in LF but won't be benched for jogging or missing cutoff on an almost nightly basis.

Great plan! First pitch you're looking...breaking ball out of the zone? THE f*** ARE YOU SWINGING AT?

102.3 for Lopez? That's gotta be his hardest hit ball in years.

Rooting against the Sox
I miss his incredibly detailed posts but if Clevinger is the thing that puts you over the top on walking away maybe it's...time to walk away.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
he has .2 fWAR. Kelenic, because he can actually play a position, has .6. There is no world where a smart team like Atlanta is considering playing sheets in the OF.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
It's a bad omen that the guy here that might actually work for the Sox was convinced Kelenic was the next great MLB superstar. I think reasonable people saw right away he wasn't a real MLB CF defensively and his mental makeup is questionable at best. Breaking his foot his last year in Seattle in anger and then crying about it with the media was one of the more bizarre things I've seen in pro sports. Crying is fine, but just the way he was unable to control his emotions either time, huge red flag.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
How is it 2024 and we're still doing this? I don't care if Kelenic sucks and is basically a 1 WAR player he can actually play a competent MLB corner OF and in a pinch can play CF. He allows you to actually field a balanced 26 man roster. Sheets is a 1B/DH that barely hits above league average. Those guys are just not that valuable. I saw someone compare him to Vogelbach but Sheets has never proven he can even put up the 126 wRC+ season Vogelbach had.

Jake Woodford is apparently a real player and not just something the player creator spit out for the press release.

Clevinger to IL, Woodford coming up, Peralta DFA Part II
Three of those guys aren't like the others. Lopez, Martin, Brebbia are 16 of that 25.5 million (roughly 2/3) and should never, ever have been brought in. The other four guys were decent bets to turn 10 cents into 20. Just didn't work out. Gotta separate decent process from the results.

Sammy Peralta was just illusion
Chris Getz is a perpetual motion machine. He can go through more s%*# than your average plumber.

We're going to struggle to win more than 45 games.

West Coast White Sox: The Seattle Mariners and their 2024 season.
Julio heating up a bit. Pitching continues to be 99th percentile which does not seem sustainable but sometimes you get that all season like the 2005 Sox. FG projected win is only 84.7 (down from 87 preseason) but playoff odds are 60% thanks to how awful the division is.

Rooting against the Sox
That's about where I'm at. There's certain players like Beni, Vaughn, Eloy and Martin that just deserve the hardiest of boos. So of course do JR, Getz and Pedro -- but there are some players like Crochett worth cheering. In general, I won't bemoan any wins, but the losses don't affect me at all right now.

@Quin @cuban_sammiches an ai could probably run the sox better for cheaper at this point. hell, maybe JR could be sold on it. just tell him a datacenter is tax free.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. You had Sam Smith, who whatever you thought of him, was a powerhouse of a reporter and had serious connections in his heyday. Then KC, who while a mouthpiece, was you know, a long time beat guy. You probably went from Smith making like 200-300k a year to Poe making 40-60K. Peanuts for the Tribune company but that's what journalism pays these days. The real money is in doing the stupid "citizen journalist" thing and just collecting money from morons online.

Nothing against the writer, Julia Poe, but it's insane some of the people working what were formerly coveted, big time, career peak beats like being the Bulls' beat writer at the Tribune, as she's listed. She got her undergrad degree in journalism (not even J school grad) from USC in 2019 and 5 years later she's working a gig that in a previous generation would be reserved for someone with 20+ years experience and impeccable writing and reporting history.

Nastrini sucks. Another awful scouting adventure. Like he has nothing. He would be getting lit up in AA.

Maybe Montgomery isn't going to make it.
Yikes.
