  1. I think my Avi comp is pretty good, looks like Tarzan, hits like Jane. Different batted ball profiles but similar results. Similar to Avi it was assumed Kelenic could handle CF as a prospect but quickly turned into only a corner player at the MLB level. Avi put together a few decent seasons (like 2.5 WAR) but otherwise was basically a 1 WAR true talent type. Not being a real CF hurts both guys quite a bit in value.
  2. I mean I agree, if we're going to have success we need our stars to play often and well. We need Grandal's bat in the lineup as much as his body can handle.
  3. too small of a sample really. that said, for whatever reason the Sox seem to have done a pretty good job finding backup catchers recently. it's been the least of our concerns. Zeby had a 108 OPS+ last year in 200 or so PA, do that again please.
  4. Agree, so he needs to catch about 100 and then DH/1B 20. Just get him in the lineup when possible.
  5. We need to run our guys into the ground if they are ready. 120 games for Grandal, 140 for Vaughn, etc. Get the training staff ready. No more sunday lineups three times a week TLR style.
  6. yea was noted last night to me as well. I guess only zavala and sheets are minor upgrades over grandal and vaughn. not even worth bothering with really. I feel like the roster is just better this year the big thing is Eloy at DH. Also, Jose looked terrible last night. He might be ready to go over the Konerko cliff. It looks like he sacrificed a lot of muscle in the offseason to get thinner. We'll see how he does. Not rooting against him but it would be nice if for once the Sox made a good decision and let some other team overpay a vet.
  7. 1/3 with a sharp single and a strikeout. Made a couple running catches in left. I think he either settles into an Avi like career path (so 1-3 WAR player) or he hangs on as a 4th OF. I think you can write him off as a star at this point, he's got some pretty big holes in his game and the athleticism was over hyped. That said, being an average regular is a great career and a way to make 100 million by the time you're 35 so not exactly the worst thing in the world if he can settle into that Avi like zone.
  8. Never made much sense because if the weather is so bad on opening day to require a postponing it probably isn't going to be much better the next. Just schedule two in a row.
  9. Momentum is tmrs starter and all that but I agree. It's a professional clubhouse but you cant tell me a guy like Moncada won't relax a bit after this win. He can just do his job instead of trying for hero ball and that will help. Similar for Lopez who has been through a lot as a ball player and is breaking new ground, a solid appearance for him can give him some confidence as the closer. And certainly it relaxes us fans a bit, and the players will feel that during the homestead. A split is now looking quite attainable and that will be a solid start all around.
  10. Hahaha. Suck it Tribe. Mariners take a 3-0 lead and still batting in the 8th.
  11. He never picked him up. Yoan was trying to do too much.
  12. And Rick Hahn got a coupon book from JR. To be fair if you are a Burger King fan some good deals there.
  13. Good point. Can't make defensive subs too early if you don't have any good defenders to sub.
  14. I like that he didn't go to defensive subs too early.
  15. merge please. Dylan was awesome tonight, 161 more to go.
  16. YESSIR, GREAT MINDS.
  17. YES, HELL YES! HAD IT THE WHOLE WAY!
  18. a changeup???????????????????????????????????
  19. doesn't matter, it takes a special swing to turn around 100, keep throwing it.
