It's a plausible scenario. Borderline utility guy at best, poverty background, makes a risk reward calculation to get to the bigs then makes another one once he's established as a 25 man guy. As always, I really don't care about players using PED. Do what you gotta do and it's up to the league to prevent and catch it. I wouldn't be for some organized team led juicing thing but players are always going to cheat one way or another I don't attach any moral value to not juicing or juicing.

Someone already said it but man it's nice to have a guy 22 doing this and not 25-27 range. Of course that's the same thing I thought about our last young breakout 2B, Yolmer. Maybe we can get a three WAR season out of Sosa at some point. Yolmer was actually a decent starter for a minute. My personal suspicion is that he stopped the vitamins once he established himself in MLB and then the power absolutely dried up.

Converted SS so you'd think it would be fine but then again I thought the same of Madrigal. Scouting report says similar bat to ball skills but Sosa has much more raw and in game power. MLB.com had him 40 grade overall preseason. Have to think that would be revised up to 50 or even 55 if he keeps up this batting line, which is solid regular territory.

Not a single team mate that I've seen has said anything positive about the guy. I saw something on another forum that said the best thing team mates can say about him is that he's "intense" which is code for "complete asshat but can hit the ball a bit so we tolerate it".

I was shocked to see he had nearly 100 bWAR. I forgot what a great defensive 1B he was in his prime in addition to a regular 300/400/600 line. 33rd all time in bWAR.

I am not a "believe all blacks" or "believe all women" type but I am of the believe that my experience in the world is not theirs so I should usually believe them. Not every time, but usually. In this instance I will listen to Aaron and TA and other AAs and if they think it's racist that's good enough for me. Some of the "TA is the real RACIST" takes on Yankees blogs and forums are batshit insane however.

This is pretty close to what I think reasonable people are thinking. Nobody believes Josh Donaldson is a hardcore racist attending Klan meetings in between games -- but -- there was racial intent in his demeaning of TA and for that he should be punished. Was Josh even aware enough to realize it? Probably not, but ignorance isn't an excuse.

There's a huge pile of evidence that Donaldson is the closest thing to a "clubhouse cancer" that you'll find in MLB these days. Nobody seems to like the guy, not even his own team mates. And when you get guys talking to this degree about stuff that is usually kept outside the media and fans' purview it's usually for an extraordinary reason -- Donaldson just is that big of an asshat.

Offer him 5/180 this offseason see if he bites, that's a fair deal imo. He can still get one more big contract and the Sox extend him out through what should be good competitive years for him and the club.

Black men always have the spotlight on them and have to be some sort of "upholder of their race" or some shit which is something us white dudes really don't have to ever think about. TA has done about as well as you possibly can on and off the field in his efforts to promote baseball and promote the success of under privileged kids. We are lucky to have him as a player on the team we all love and a guy like Donaldson knows nothing, about TA, about what he means to Chicago and what it means to be a black man in America. He can fuck off.
